And then I see what appears to be two naked girls in a bed. No (straight) man cannot watch lesbians, so I watched for a bit. A younger girls runs in, screams some stuff about loving you guys! and leaves. Then some other stuff happens, Sarah Michelle Gellar is there, and I realize the show I'm watching is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Since the lesbians are no longer on screen, I lose interest and go to watch my other show. A week or so later I see Buffy on tv again, and stop to watch to see if the lesbians are there again. They're not, but I keep watching anyway. For some reason they have some sort of ray gun and I'm thinking to myself: gee, this show has really lost it's focus, even though I don't know anything about it.
Then I see an old rerun of a season three episode with Eliza Dushku and I'm hooked. It's not just about lesbians anymore (though there is an awful lot of that for network tv), the storytelling and the characterization is amazing. So I watch. I realize that the first episode I watched was where Tara is killed, and that the raygun was Gone, and they had lost their way (even though season six is now my second favorite).
I'm still a guy though, so my first experience with fanfic was looking for Buffy/Faith porn. Instead I found Wyndgyrl's fic CV which was just so fantastically written that it hooked me on the stories for life.
Most of my writing is deeply introspective stuff, though I like to throw in some humour, smut, and violence where appropriate.
