In Frankfurt, robed men kill another girl. Buffy starts her new
job and Willow reluctantly leaves England for Sunnydale. Buffy and
the gang prepare to help a woman terrorized by a giant worm and
Spike shows up. Buffy reluctantly accepts his help. Xander realizes
the woman made a wish. Confronted by the gang at the Bronze, Anya
admits she turned the ex-boyfriend into a worm. Anya tries to blame
things on Xander, but he's not buying her excuse. Anya also "sees"
Spike's soul, but he attacks her to keep her from spilling the truth--leading
to a big fight. The woman runs away smack into trouble, and while
Buffy and Spike rescue her, Xander talks Anya into reversing the
spell. As Spike stabs the worm, it turns into a man, firing the
chip and shattering his hold on his sanity. Spike runs off. Leaving
the wounded man to Xander and Anya--who knows she's in trouble for
the reversal--Buffy follows Spike to a church. Buffy is stunned
to realize Spike has a soul, and as a broken Spike talks of forgiveness,
he embraces a cross and starts smoldering.
