As Anya, Xander, and Willow recap last week's episode, Buffy arrives in uniform for her new job at the Doublemeat Palace. While Buffy's battling workplace despair, there's conflict simmering between Willow and Anya, trouble brewing between Xander and Anya, and Amy tries to sabotage Willow's recovery from magic addiction. The Scoobies support Buffy at her new job, but Spike and Dawn express their misgivings and concerns. The dull, unchallenging work plunges Buffy into apathy, although her suspicion that evil is afoot at the restaurant soon proves correct--a monster is eating DP employees! Buffy almost becomes its next fast food snack (and to make sure viewers get that Buffy is conflicted about her sexuality, the monster looks like a giant penis that ejaculates a paralyzing substance), but is rescued by Willow. Afterwards, Willow and Amy have a confrontation, and the two part on ominous terms.
