Dämon Spike kan aus dem unterirdischen Labor ausbrechen, in dem er gefangen war. Dieses Labor gehört der "Initiative", einer Vereinigung zur Bekämpfung des Bösen. Riley, einer ihrer treusten Gefolgsleute, führt die Suche nach Spike an. Dabei stößt er auf Buffy, die ebenfalls auf Spike wartet - nicht ahnend, dass sie Rileys Aktion behindert. Unterdessen ist es Spike gelungen, in das Wohnheim von Willow und Buffy einzudringen. Die Situation eskaliert, als Spike Willow beißen will.
