Author's Note: This is just after the big Buffy and Spike kiss at the end of "Once More With Feeling". I just like to explore the things that might have happened to the characters when we can't see or hear them.
Feedback: Yes please. Check out some of my other stand alones too.
Disclaimer: I was forced to do it at gun point...

The music stopped. Spike kept kissing Buffy, although her eyes were now open in horror and disgust as she realized what she was doing. Spike noticed the change. He opened his eyes and pulled away from Buffy. He looked in to her eyes but didn't dare say a word.... mostly because he would have come off as a bumbling git. He had no glue what to say. Nothing remotely charming or witty sprung to mind. She kissed him. Right? That was all her... wasn't it? Bloody hell, was she going to say anything any time soon?
"Oh my God." Buffy said in sheer mortification... and the look on her face indicated that she might throw up. She stepped away out of Spike's arms. Spike creased his forehead. That hadn't exactly been the words he had been waiting for.
"'Fraid God had nothing to do with this one, pet."
"Oh my God." Buffy said again, and then rushed past Spike. Spike turned around, ready to follow her to wherever she was about to speed off to, but she stopped a few feet away and turned around to face him.
"That didn't happen." She said.
"If you're going to try and convince someone that something didn't happen... you'll probably want to make sure they weren't there too. It makes more sense that way." Spike said with a shallow grin. "You kissed--"
Buffy held out her hand suddenly to silence him.
"Don't say it." She said. "It didn't happen. You saying it will make it seem like it happened when it really didn't... happen." Spike's heart dropped. It may not have pumped blood or beat anymore... but it still hurt like hell when Buffy decided to wrap her perfect little hands around it. He clenched his jaw and walked up to her angrily.
"You think you can just wave your hand and that-" he gestured toward where they had been standing when they kissed, "will be erased? Just like that. Never happened. I imagined the whole thing." Buffy looked away. Spike grabbed her suddenly by the shoulders. She stared in to his eyes defiantly. "I can still taste you, Buffy." He paused. "It happened." Buffy Pushed Spike away from her angrily.
"Don't touch me." She said with quiet vehemence. Spike stared at her but said nothing. "I kissed you, Spike." She admitted, but not in a way that gave Spike any hope. He tilted his head and waited for her to continue. "But I was under a spell. It wasn't my choice... There was no feeling behind it. No emotion. it wasn't really me... It wasn't real."
Nothing really is these days... She thought to herself.
"I don't believe you." Spike said through clenched teeth. Buffy looked down for a moment, then at Spike.
"You don't have to." She responded. "But what you believe wont change the truth."
"... And what you try to make yourself believe wont change it either, love." He paused. "You know, you keep treating me this way... I might just let you finish your little tap dance of death next time."
"You tell anyone about this... and I'll kill you." She said seriously. Spike furrowed his forehead. Buffy turned around and began walking away.
"I love you, Buffy." Spike called out to her. Buffy stopped for a moment. She stood there silent... and then began walking again. Spike watched her go.
"Bloody hell."
