Authors note: Hey Everyone! This is something…actually one of the first things I’ve written but never bothered to put it on a web site! So here it is. I don’t know where this is going so bare with me…I mean I have an idea but I’ll play it by year. Oh and this is kind of in the not a season category even though some things in the fic happened in certain seasons. Reviews please, I just want to know how I’m doing and if you have any ideas! So enjoy!
Chapter 1: Meeting the Guardian
Buffy Summers and her best friend Willow Rosenberg walked through the cemetery trying not to make a sound. There was a nest of Vamps hiding in one of the crypts and Buffy wanted to make sure they had the element of surprise. It would definitely do good if the Vamps hadn’t known she was going to sneak up on them therefore they would not have time to run. Willow said that she would try that spell of sunlight her and Tara had been trying to perfect.
Buffy put her hand up to Willow as they neared the crypt. “Stay here” she whispered and walked toward the ugly slab of stone that had supposedly been housing six or seven Vampires
She stared through a crack and saw that they were all feeding off of two humans. She then gestured for Willow to come. Willow slowly took three candles out of the bag and what looked like a flower or something.
Willow placed them down in front of the crypt and put the flower in the middle of the three candles. She then quietly whispered: “Goddess of the Sun grant my wishes to have the sun in my hands to use it for good to rid the world of the Darkness.” She stopped then picked up the flower and placed it over the candle and it burned. “Let the light form” All of the sudden there was light in Willows hands where the burning flower had once been.
“That simple” Buffy asked
“Yes” Willow answered “Take it and throw it, it’ll explode and be just like sunlight.
Buffy studied it for a moment “I’m impressed” she said and then hurled it forward.
They then walked back home after hearing screaming of the vamps as they exploded to ash.
Giles stared at the clock wondering if Buffy’s patrol had gone well. If she doesn’t come tonight she will come tomorrow to talk about her progress in riding the world of evil, he thought trying not to get worried or paranoid.
As he got up ready to put a pot of tea on there was a knock at the door. He walked over hoping that he would see Buffy standing there and as he opened up he saw both Buffy and Willow with smiles on there faces. Thank God, he thought.
“It was excellent” Willow said sipping tea.
“I am very impressed that the spell worked, it is at a level of difficulty and you accomplished it” Giles said happy for Willow that her spell casting was turning out to be successful.
“I thought it was simple” Buffy said, “I mean it seemed very quick and easy”
“Yes well the difficulty in it is keeping yourself calm and open to light” Giles told them “and that’s very difficult to do when its dark, if it is dark you would have to sense the light around you”
He paused and frowned as if remembering something “Which some people have a very difficult time figuring out”
Buffy smiled at him and was about to say something when Xander and Anya walked into the door followed by Tara, which was extremely odd.
‘Tara” Willow said concern in her voice
“I had a feeling to come here” Tara said her brow furrowed
“Yeah us too” Xander added looking confused “I mean one minute” he paused and added “watching T.V. and the next we were headed here”
Anya looked at him “We were not watching T.V.” she said and before she continued Xander said “Anya remember what I said about not sharing our private life with people we know” she nodded “well this is one of those times”
“Oh” she said
All of the sudden a strong light formed. A figure glowed slightly in the light. “Hello Slayer”
Buffy looked around “Why do they always come for me?” she asked
“I don’t know” Xander said “but I think its one of those times where walking into the light isn’t a good idea”
The figure that had been watching intently nodded its head toward Giles. “Rupert nice to see you again”
Giles smiled and said, “Yes it’s been a long time hasn’t it?” The figure nodded once and then regarded Buffy, almost sizing her up. “Rupert I have been sent by the Powers that Be to give you all a task.”
“A what?” Buffy asked “Wait a sec, Giles who is this?” she asked suspiciously
“She is a guardian to the Slayers” Giles answered and looked at the figure. “A task?” he asked.
She nodded, “We have to gather the others.”
