She had a job she had to do
But knew that it wouldn't get done
Torn between her duty and love
You can only guess which one won.
And so he's back, but she is too
But to go back, she must know well
That he fell from the sky above
But in the same, he rose from Hell.
And so she creeps out of bed tonight
To see for herself if he is tame
But she knows deep within her heart
Things can never be the same.
And so, in watching him try hard
Not to scream, she herself tries
Not to fight his battle for him
And not to listen to his cries of
"I'll get better
All I have to do is fight
It doesn't matter
What you say is wrong or right
And you can't help me
Try to win this losing battle
My struggle with the
Angel inside."
So as she sees him fight himself
A vision of the way it was
It tugs at her last thin heartstrings
Just the way that sorrow does.
She thinks of how things used to be
Before she gave herself to him
And now she's faced the concequence
That simple times have fled within.
She knows that though he moves so clean
Inside, he's screaming "Don't leave me now"
And even though she longs to listen
He just can't get it through somehow
The truth is etched out in her brain
But she just doesn't want to see
That this time she can't help him win
The one who has to fight is he
And he says
"I'll get better
All I have to do is fight
It doesn't matter
What you say is wrong or right
And you can't help me
Try to win this losing battle
My struggle with the
Angel inside."
