Laying in Spike's arms, Buffy looked in his eyes. Her hand was on his stomach and the other was stroking his which was on her arm.
Buffy slid her arm around his waist and rested her tired body against his. "I really needed this," she said, softly.
"Needed what, Pet?" Spike asked, his arms now closed over her body as her cheek rested against his chest.
"Needed you to be here with me," she said, softly.
Spike stayed silent and kissed her temple.
Buffy smiled and lifted her head a little. She leaned forward and kissed him softly.
Spike pulled away with wonder.
Buffy blushed a little. "I've wanted to do that for a long time."
"Hmm? Coulda fooled me," Spike said, once he could get his voice working.
"I know I haven't been the best person to be around," she said, laying back up against him.
"You had to be tough to do your job," Spike said, stroking her hair.
"I'm tired of being the strong one. I need a break," she mumbled.
"Well, I'm here. You don't have to be strong when I'm around. I'm always here, and you know that," Spike said.
"Why?" Buffy asked, softly.
"'Why' what?" Spike asked, pushing her back a little.
Buffy's eyes filled with tears. "Why are you still here? Why do you stay?"
Spike brow furrowed. "You know why. I left once, but I couldn't leave you forever."
Tears slid down Buffy's cheeks. "I'm really glad you came back to me. I didn't think you would," she said, her breathing started to come in small pants.
Spike pulled her close to him and held her tightly. "Buffy, I'll always come home to you. No mater how bad things are, I'll be here for you. Promise." Spike kissed her forehead and she squeezed him tightly.
"I wouldn't have made it this far with out you. I think you're the only one who could've done this for me," she said, nuzzling him fondly.
"You've done your share for me as well," Spike said, cradling her head.
"I know but I was totally lost last year and you pulled me back," she said, softly.
"No, I didn't," Spike said, running his fingers through her hair.
"Yes, you did," Buffy said, firmly. "Everything you did was comforting. I'll never forget what you did for me."
'Not everything is worth remembering," Spike said, guilt clogging his voice.
"Even that night, helped me in it's own weird way," Buffy said, trying to reassure him.
Spike smiled. "Get some sleep, Luv," he whispered.
"You'll still be here when I wake up?" Buffy asked, softly.
"Always," Spike said, kissing her lightly.
