“This is from Angel.” Giles told his Slayer, handing her a long box. She opened the box and smiled. Inside was a single red rose.
“He still loves me.” She said to Giles softly. Her mentor nodded.
“Of course he does.” Giles smiled sadly. “He always will.”
“I have to see him.” Buffy told Giles. The man she’d come to love as a father nodded. “I’ll drive you.”
“Giles, this is something I need to do alone.” He said.
“Yes, I know. But if you think I’m going to let you anywhere near the wheel of a car while on the highway, you’re crazy.” Buffy grinned.

“So we think the Scourge is going to bring about the End of Days?” Cordelia asked Doyle.
“That just about sums it up.” Doyle replied. The two of them had been researching the Scourge all morning, and Angel hadn’t left his room.
A blond girl about Cordelia’s age walked into the office.
“Buffy, hi.” Cordy greeted her.
“Hi. I need to see Angel.” Buffy said.
“He’s in the apartment downstairs.” Cordelia told her, pointing to the stairs.
Angel was in his bedroom looking at a photograph of Buffy she’d given him her junior year when he heard his door open. The presence was unmistakable.
“Buffy?” He asked.
The Slayer came over and sat down on the bed.
“Thank you for the rose.” She said softly. For a moment they just sat there together. Then, Buffy told him the truth.
“I told you I’d never forget.”
