Angel Season 6
Episode 2: When in Rome
PREVIOUSLY ON ANGEL:
Shot of Angel in the alley with his sword raised.
ANGEL
Let’s get to work.
Shot of Lilah walking towards them down the alley.
LILAH (V.O.)
The Senior Partners never intended to kill you tonight, Angel. We want you.
Shot of Angel and Spike.
SPIKE
You can’t.
ANGEL
I am. Do it.
Shot of Angel and Buffy in Angel’s Hell/Paradise.
Angel: Doesn’t matter now. I’m here, you…all of you are here. And this is real…this is really real. You and I…what are we Buffy?
There’s a long meaningful stare between the two. They lean in for a kiss and Angel closes his eyes. Suddenly her face straightens and her hand violently pushes through his chest. Angel’s eyes open in shock.
Buffy (sarcastically): This is really real Angel. (serious voice) This is really hell.
Shot of Spike and Gunn.
SPIKE
Right, so LA is useless. We have to get some outside contractors.
GUNN
And where do you propose we find some?
SPIKE
Rome.
TEASER
SETTING
A moderately crowded Roman street, night. Spike, Gunn, and Illyria are standing in a plaza looking distinctly out of place. Spike is searching for some landmarks.
SPIKE
Well, didn’t expect to be back here so soon.
Spike surveys the area, a look of pained remembrance from his last visit on his face.
GUNN
So…we’re goin’ to meet this ‘Giles’ guy. He can help, right? He’s not gonna be ‘helpful’ like Andrew, is he?
SPIKE
No, this bloke’s actually the top man. As to how helpful…well, you heard the phone call Angel had about Fred. I suspect ole Rupert doesn’t trust us.
GUNN
(sighs) Fun. Shame Connor couldn’t come. Coulda used wonder-boy.
SPIKE
Yeah, but the lad’s gotta look after his family. Hard to come up with an excuse to come to Rome that you can explain to your parents.
A passerby notices Illyria, who is in full God-king mode. The passerby stares and hastens away. Spike looks Illyria up and down, one eyebrow raised.
SPIKE
Hey, Blue, you think you could tone down the look? Not everyone here is prepared to see a blue demon standing in the piazza.
ILLYRIA
(cocks her head to one side)
You ask this of me? To hide my true form for that of the Burkle woman? Simply to appease the muck that eats itself? I do not take that form to appease anyone. Remember that vampire.
Spike gives her a look that says ‘you’re not fooling me’. Illyria looks away, reminded of confiding in Spike in the last episode, and her grief over Wesley.
SPIKE
Yeah, yeah, you’re Illyria, big whatever of the ancient days, but if we’re gonna reach Angel in the Crazy Twin Hell, we’re gonna need Rupert’s help, and to get to Rupert we need to not draw attention to the fact that you’re a demon.
People around the piazza stare at the trio. Gunn ruefully takes in their reactions.
GUNN
Good job, Blondie Bear. I think now it’s a toss up between you two for the most conspicuous.
Illyria surveys the gawkers in the square and then turns to her partners.
ILLYRIA
I do this for no one but myself.
Illyria shifts into Fred’s form and Gunn and Spike look away, still uncomfortable seeing Illyria look like Fred. Illyria tilts her head in the other direction.
ILLYRIA
You ask me to assume the Burkle persona and yet when I do you will not meet my gaze. Is this form as painful to you as it was to—
Illyria cuts herself off, unwilling to discuss Wesley. There is an awkward silence, interrupted by a disturbance across the piazza. Gunn looks up first and notices…
GUNN
Look…over there! It’s—
All three look up to see Lorne, who is being pursued by the Commando guys from “Conviction.” He’s giving them a fairly good run, ducking in and out of the people on the moderately crowded street, but it is clear that the Commandos will catch him before too long.
ILLYRIA
The demon clown will not last much longer.
SPIKE
Well then, I guess we should—
Spike looks over to see that both Gunn and Illyria are already on their way to help Lorne. Spike rolls his eyes and chases after them.

ACT ONE
The remains of AI are chasing the Commandos, who are chasing Lorne, through the Roman strata. People in the street are attempting to move aside, but are really more a hindrance then a help. Gunn is cut off by an Old Woman.
GUNN
Sorry, lady.
He pushes her to the side as politely as possible and takes off after Lorne and the Commandos again. The Old woman can be seen waving her fist at Gunn in the background, as he makes for Lorne.
Spike’s progress is blocked when he runs into a large rugby-player type. He shoves the large man aside, much to the large man’s surprise. However, Spike still can’t get through the crowd of people in front of him.
Illyria is having no such trouble. She moves through the crowd with ease, quickly gaining on the Commandos.
The Commandos had a large head start, however, and are almost close enough to grab Lorne before Illyria can get to him. Lorne looks back quickly and sees this. He stops, opens his mouth and begins to sing.
The note becomes higher and more ear piercing, and all the Commandos drop to their knees, hands over their ears. Gunn and Spike are also affected by Lorne’s singing, and stop running. Both crouch over in pain, attempting to block out the sound. All over the piazza people are stopping short, dropping to their knees, and covering their ears…except Illyria.
Illyria weaves the last little bit through the crowd and grabs Lorne, who stops singing with a startled squawk. The other people in the square slowly begin to recover from the aural onslaught, as Illyria drags Lorne over to Spike and Gunn.
LORNE
Let me go! I was doing fine.
ILLYRIA
(still holding Lorne)
You were about to be captured by the Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart. (she looks down at Spike and Gunn). You are both useless, too weak to fight your own senses. Gunn is still rubbing his ears, a pained look on his face.
GUNN
Yeah…silly us. (He looks up at Lorne) Hey green jeans, we thought you were dead.
LORNE
Wish I were, slick. (He glares at Illyria) I guess it was too much to hope that she wouldn’t make it through.
The Commandos are almost fully recovered. The leader looks over, pointing at Lorne and they begin to assemble themselves. Spike looks up and notices that the Commandos are almost ready to resume their pursuit.
SPIKE
Can we save the reunion? We need to get out of here.
The gang runs towards an alley on the far end of the piazza, Illyria still dragging Lorne behind her. They weave in and out of people, finally making it to the alley.
The Commandos follow them to the alley and the gang cuts down a side street in an attempt to lose them.
The Commandos are still hot in pursuit, however, and the gang can hear them close behind.
Gunn notices another small alley to the right, and he yells for the gang to follow him. They run down the alley and then veer off down another one, sounds of pursuit becoming fainter.
They come to a stop, Gunn leaning on a handy crate to catch his breath.
GUNN
Think we lost them.
Gunn and Spike look around the alley, trying to figure out where this mad dash has gotten them.
SPIKE
Looks like we lost ourselves too.
Lorne shakes off Illyria’s grip. He glares at Spike and Gunn, trying to regain his breath.
LORNE
I thought I told Angel to leave me alone.
GUNN
Well, yeah, but—
LORNE
I’m done! I’m finished! I’ve lost too much to keep fighting. Angel knew. When he asked me to—he knew I wouldn’t be coming back. Where is he so I can tear off his fashionably styled head myself?
GUNN
Lorne, he—
LORNE
Angel knew! He agreed! (Lorne looks down for a beat) I want all of you to leave and tell your fearless leader that I don’t appreciate him searching me out.
Lorne pushes past Illyria and begins to leave.
SPIKE
Look, you git—
Lorne continues to walk away.
LORNE
I’m gone. Catch you all never.
Illyria moves quickly, stepping in front of Lorne.
ILLYRIA
You should not show such insolence.
Lorne opens his mouth to say something rude to Illyria, but Spike interrupts.
SPIKE
Look, Lorne, we weren’t looking for you. We came to Rome because we need help. Angel’s gone and gotten himself carted off to Hell and we need to find a way to get him out.
LORNE
Huh…interesting. Well, bye!
Lorne side steps Illyria and starts walking again.
GUNN
Look, Lorne, we’re not asking for your help, but it looks like you could use some yourself.
Lorne whirls on Gunn, eyes flashing. This is the angriest anyone has ever seen him.
LORNE
Oh, looks that way, does it? Hmmm, I wonder who I can thank for that. I’ve had these fast and fit Commandos on my tail for over a week and I’ve avoided them.
SPIKE
Yeah, you were doing a great job there. Definitely in no trouble of being caught.
LORNE
Look, what is it going to take to convince you that I don’t want your help.
There is an awkward pause. Finally Gunn sighs.
GUNN
Lorne, he’s trapped and we have to save him.
Lorne stops and stares at Gunn, mouth open. He looks at Illyria, Spike, and Gunn in turn and then sighs himself. He looks resignedly down at his hands.
LORNE
Ok, slick. (looks up at Gunn, same fatalistic look on his face) What do we have to do?

ACT TWO
SETTING
The gang is standing awkwardly outside the apartment door seen in “The Girl in Question.”
Spike knocks nervously on the door, while speaking to the gang assembled behind him.
SPIKE
Hopefully the little ponce’ll be here. I don’t fancy explaining myself to Buffy.
The door opens to reveal Andrew. His eyes become wide and a big smile appears on his face.
ANDREW
Spike? Beinvenu! (Andrew steps aside to let the gang in) That’s French. I have an assignment in Paris [pronounced: pah-REE] on Lundi and I have to brush up.
The gang enters Buffy’s apartment and stands in the entrance, unsure of where else to go. Andrew frowns at the determined look on Spike’s face.
ANDREW
You’re not here for Buffy are you, cause if you’ll remember, last time I told you—
Spike cuts Andrew off with a wave of his hand.
SPIKE
Not here for Buffy. Was hoping you could take us to Giles.
ANDREW
To Giles? (Andrew looks panicy and a little guilty) But why would you wan to go to Giles…I mean, it’ll be such a big surprise and…
SPIKE
You didn’t tell him I’m back?
ANDREW
Well, no. It was a secret, deepest, darkest, and you put your trust in me, never to reveal that you were back from the dead…it’s like the Trust the Odo put in Kirea when he showed her his true form on DS9! I would never—
Andrew trails off when he sees the looks he is getting from his guests. Illyria stands to one side, examining the apartment.
Spike pauses for a second, shaking his head a little to adjust himself to Andrew.
SPIKE
Right, look, we need to speak with the Ripper. I’ll let you off the hook and tell him I’m alive myself, while I’m at it.
ANDREW
Well, Mr. Giles is normally in England with the new Watcher’s Council…
SPIKE
(frustrated) Bollocks! We need him here!
ANDREW
Well—
GUNN
Should we head for England? Find a boat?
ANDREW
Actually—
SPIKE
(growls) I was countin’ on him being here!
ANDREW
He—
GUNN
I know, but we’ll just have to improvise.
LORNE
Hey, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb, I think Sparky’s trying to say something. Andrew flashes a resentful look at Lorne for the nickname “Sparky.”
ANDREW
Well, what I was trying to say is that Mr. Giles is here, even though he’s normally in England.
Spike and Gunn stare at Andrew.
SPIKE
Well, why didn’t you just say that in the first place?
ANDREW
Well, I—
GUNN
Never mind that now. Lets get going. The quicker we find this Giles guy, the quicker we can get back to Angel.
SCENE
Angel wakes up in bed with a start, breathing heavily. We see a flash of Buffy vamping out and biting him while his friends and family look on. Angel looks around wildly.
Cordelia enters, again wearing the sheer bathrobe.
CORDELIA
Geeze, Angel. Is this going to be a daily thing with you? Wake up, freak out, question life, and then inevitably accept the happiness?
Angel looks at her warily, flashing back to her leering face looking on as Buffy bites him. Cordy sits next to him on the bed and leans in to kiss him. Angel eventually gets into the kiss. Cordy pulls back and smiles.
CORDELIA
C’mon, let me make you some waffles before you go hang with the guys.
ANGEL
You treat me so well…
Cordy leans in and gives him a quick peck on the lips.
CORDELIA
Of course, champ.
She leaves the room. Angel leans back on the bed, hand behind his head. There is a brief flash of uncertainty on his face before he smiles, gets out of bed, and goes to join Cordy for breakfast.
SCENE
The outside of another apartment, this one nicer then Buffy’s with a definite antique feel. Spike, Illyria, Gunn, and Lorne are standing in the hall. Spike looks worried, Gunn hopeful, Lorne bored, and Illyria is examining the shrubbery in the corner of the hall.
Spike looks down at the piece of paper in his hand, on which is written Giles’ address.
SPIKE
Well, here goes.
Spike steles himself and tentatively knocks on the door. Giles’ voice can be heard from inside the apartment.
GILES
Give me a moment, I’ll be right there.
There are shuffling noises from inside the apartment and after a few moments the door is opened to reveal Giles, tea towel over his shoulder and glass in hand, clearly in the middle of washing up after dinner.
GILES
Well, hello, what can I—
Giles’ voice trails off when he takes in who is standing in front of him.
GILES
(dazedly) Bloody hell!

ACT THREE
SPIKE
(smirking) Well, hello there Rupert. How’s life been treating you?
Giles takes a step back, staring at Spike
SPIKE
As you can see, life’s treated me to another chance…well, unlife anyway. Mind if we come in?
Giles nods slowly and mumbles something that could be interpreted as ‘come in.’
SPIKE
C’mon, Rupes, you know you have to do better then that to let me in.
GILES
(Still dazed) Ah…yes. (He blinks slowly) So you’re still a vampire, then?
SPIKE
Yeah, still a cold, dead, creature of the night. So…can me and my mates come in or will we be standing in the hall ‘til Judgment Day, which may not be as far away as—
ILLYRIA
I tire of this banter. Let us in, mortal peon, so we may get the information to save our leader.
Giles looks nonplussed at Illyria’s speech, taking in her Fred-guise and attempting to mesh the image of the small woman in front of him and what comes out of her mouth.
GILES
Well, excuse me, miss, but as it is my home—
Illyria strides in past Giles, taking in the interior.
GILES
Which you can just walk right into. (He sighs) Why don’t you come in Spike, and make sure your friend doesn’t tear apart my flat.
ILLYRIA
Huh. Pathetic what you mortals strive so hard to protect.
She turns to Giles, dissolving into Illyria as she does so. Giles is, if possible, more surprised.
GILES
Wha—
ILLYRIA
Your speech has left you, as it should in my presence. I am Illyria, God King of the Primordium, and you—
SPIKE
(cutting her off) Save it, Blue. Look, Rupert, we need your help to save Angel.
GILES
Save Angel? Why would I want to do that?
SPIKE
Well, seeing as how he’s in Hell…
GILES
I still don’t see why I would want to save him, Spike.
Spike steps forward menacingly.
SPIKE
Because he’s a hero, because he’s trapped in Hell, because he need our help, and because I said so.
Giles holds his ground.
GILES
You’ll not threaten me into anything Spike. Angel made his bed at Wolfram and Hart, and now he’s lying in it.
SPIKE
His bed! His bed consists of making a deal with the sodding devil to save humanity, so I bloody well think we’ll help him.
Giles looks around the room at the determined and threatening faces and sighs. He sets the glass down on a side table and looks up. He takes off his glasses and uses the tea towel to clean them. Replacing his glasses he looks up at Spike.
GILES
I think you’d better start from the beginning.
Spike opens his mouth to begin their story when the door opens. A blond woman enters, not really looking, and begins to speak.
BLOND WOMAN
Hey, Giles! We’re here! So what’s the—
She looks up and freezes when she notices the crowd in the living room. Here eyes stop on Spike and her mouth opens. A younger woman peaks around the Blond Woman and her face lights up, tears forming in her eyes.
YOUNGER WOMAN
Spike? (Pause) Spike, is that really you?
The younger woman runs across the room and wraps her arms around Spike’s waist. Spike is still for a moment and then returns the hug.
SPIKE
Nibblet. (Pause, he smiles) Missed me I see.
Dawn looks up at him, tears in her eyes.
DAWN
You’re alive! Oh god, Spike, we thought you were…but you’re not!
SPIKE
Shhh, platelet. I’m here now. I hear from Andrew that you’ve been going to school here. Will I have another mindless automaton soon?
Dawn smiles and hugs him more fiercely. The blond woman still has not moved. Spike looks up at her, half smiling.
SPIKE
Hello, Buffy.
SCENE
Inside the bedroom of Angel’s perfect house, Angel is standing in front of the window. He stares out the window, looking at the setting sun.
CORDELIA (O.S.)
Angel, sweetie, I’m dropping Connor off at his hockey game. I’ll be back in a bit.
Angel smiles.
ANGEL
I’ll be here waiting.
He stares silently out the window as the sun finally dips below the horizon. He smiles, enjoying the twilight from a human perspective.
He hears a noise behind him and turns to see Buffy entering the room again. She is wearing a flowy, blue sundress. He sighs.
ANGEL
Buffy.
She walks softly across the room towards him.
BUFFY
Angel. (she smiles)
ANGEL
I thought after last night…
Buffy continues to come towards him. When she is close enough, she reaches out to touch his face with one hand. Angel tentatively reaches up to brush her hair away from her forehead. Buffy looks up at him earnestly.
BUFFY
What happened last night…Angel, just forget what happened last night. Now it’s time for just the two of us. You said it yourself…‘ours is a forever love.’
Buffy morphs into vamp-face, grinning evilly, as Angel is frozen to the spot, a horrified look on his face.
BUFFY
So kiss me, lover.
END ACT THREE

ACT FOUR
SCENE
Buffy is right where we left her, standing stock still, just inside the door to Giles’ apartment. Gunn and Lorne look very uncomfortable at being witness to this scene, and Illyria watches the impasse with a look of interest on her face, head tilted to one side. Giles has removed his glasses again, and is cleaning them with renewed vigor.
Dawn still has her arms wrapped around Spike’s torso, crying quietly. He gives her a squeeze and then removes her arms from his waist. She continues to cling to one of his arms, as she surveys the room. Her eyes widen a little when they fall on Lorne and Illyria.
Buffy finally regains some of her composure. Her jaw tightens and she looks angry.
BUFFY
(softly) I’m gonna kill that little nerd.
SPIKE
Well, it’s good to see you to. (Pause) Guess I didn’t burn up like you thought.
The entire room stares at him.
SPIKE
(mumbling) Knew it was a bad way to break the news… (louder) So…how’ve you been?
BUFFY
(staring) How’ve I? What the Hell kind of question is that? You’re magically returned in Giles’ living room after nearly a year of being a pile of dust at the bottom of a crater and ‘How’ve you been’ is all you have to say for yourself?
SPIKE
Well, what would you like me to say, Slayer? I already tried the ‘I’m not dead’ routine. Didn’t go over well.
Illyria moves to Buffy, looking her up and down.
ILLYRIA
So this is a vampire Slayer. Unimpressive…though, I suspect, (she looks up at Spike) sufficient to kill your kind.
Buffy turns to face Illyria, returning the elevator look.
BUFFY
I’ve proved ‘sufficient’ enough in the past. (Turns back to Spike) Care to explain why you’ve returned from the dead with the circus in tow?
ILLYRIA
(stepping forward, menacingly) You dare insult me? Your line is as motes of dust to the mountains when compared to the majesty that is Illyria!
Giles’ head snaps up at the name. And he regards Illyria with caution and curiosity.
BUFFY
(Unimpressed) Uh huh. (Turns to Spike) Look, Spike, can we…can I talk to you? (She looks around the room) In private?
SPIKE
Well, Buffy, we—
GILES
You can use my bedroom. (He pauses) You’re just planning on talking, correct?
Buffy glares at him and Giles looks embarrassed. She exits into the bedroom.
Spike sighs, knowing there are far more important things to discuss. He turns to Gunn.
SPIKE
Could you…?
GUNN
I’ll fill Giles’ in on the situation. You go…talk it out.
Spike nods and exits into the bedroom after Buffy. Lorne finds a chair and sits, folding his arms across his chest.
GUNN
So that’s Buffy. Huh.
LORNE
Looks Like Little Miss Tiny’ll give Blondie Bear an earful.
Gunn smirks a little, then remembers the more pressing matters. He turns to Giles.
GUNN
Ok, here’s the deal…
SCENE
Inside Giles’ bedroom Buffy is pacing, arms folded across her chest. She stops pacing and turns to Spike.
BUFFY
How? When?
SPIKE
Well…
BUFFY
Well, what, Spike? What the hell is going on?
SPIKE
Buffy, look, I came back not long after I burnt up.
Buffy looks hurt.
BUFFY
But why didn’t…
SPIKE
I was a ghost. Couldn’t affect anything around me. Didn’t want you to know I was back. Then I was made corporeal and, well…I didn’t know how to tell you, so I thought it would just be better…
BUFFY
(furious) Better! Oh, so you decided, just like Angel, what was ‘best’ for me!
SPIKE
Buffy, it wasn’t like that. I had my own mission…I was helping people. And not for you, luv, not for any other reason but to help them. I had…I had to see if I could do it. But then Fred died, and you lot wouldn’t help us, so I thought ‘screw you all’ and stayed to help Angel.
Buffy is speechless, eyes glittering with tears.
SPIKE
And that’s why I’m here, pet. To help Angel. He’s stuck in a Hell dimension, and we need to get him out.
BUFFY
Angel knew just what he was getting into when he took over at Wolfram and Hart. I don’t see why anyone should help him.
SPIKE
That’s bollocks, Slayer, and you know it.
BUFFY
I don’t know what I know. I don’t trust him, Spike. He sold his soul to the devil. He betrayed everything he believed in…why would you stay to help him? Why not…why didn’t you come to find me?
SPIKE
He didn’t sell his soul Buffy…and do you even know what you’re talking about? Have you even spoken to Angel since he took over? Angel’s a hero, Buffy, and he needs our help to return to his fight.
Buffy looks very surprised.
BUFFY
Am I in Bizzaro Land? Is this the Twilight Zone? You’re defending Angel?
SPIKE
I am.
Buffy stares at Spike.
BUFFY
Spike…I’ll ask again. Why didn’t you come for me? I told you…I thought you knew that I—
SPIKE
Look, Buffy, what’s happening now is more important then you and I.
Buffy looks shell-shocked. Spike meets her gaze full on.
From outside the door they hear a loud thump.
SPIKE
We should get back.
Buffy’s mouth tightens.
BUFFY
Fine, but when we're done with this little quest, you and I will have this out.
SCENE
Spike and Buffy rush into the living room to see Giles being held against a wall by Illyria. Gunn and Lorne are trying to pull her off.
ILLYRIA
You will show him the proper respect!
GILES
I-
Spike and Buffy pull Illyria off and Buffy punches her in the face, barely phasing the Illyria. Slayer and Old One drop into fighting stances and Spike jumps between them, facing Illyria.
SPIKE
Illyria! Back off!
BUFFY
If you ever touch him again-
SPIKE
Buffy, don't start with the idle threats. I’ve heard enough to last an unlifetime. (turning to Gunn) What happened?
GUNN
Well, we got to the part in the story where Wes died heroically, facing off against a sorcerer and Geeves here couldn't seem to restrain a skeptical snort.
Spike's jaw tightens. Illyria and Giles continue to face off.
GILES
I merely asked if Wesley had tripped and fell on a sword and that…that…harlot attacked me.
ILLYRIA
Call me names all you wish. Petty insults do not affect me, but to dishonor the memory of Wesley is to bring about my full wrath.
GILES
(looking anywhere but at Illyria) So Wesley shacked up with a demon. That's par for the course with this group.
Buffy shoots Giles a nasty look.
ILLYRIA
(her voice starts out low and gradually gets higher and angrier) Wesley was not my lover. He was…my guide in this world. He was the only one of your mortals I could tolerate. The only reason I am aiding in the rescue of Angel is to honor Wesley's memory. He represents…represented the best qualities you scum possess. He was better than this world deserved, better than…I deserved after killing the woman he loved. I will not stand for anyone speaking ill of him. Ever.
There's a few moments of uncomfortable silence as everyone stares at the walls except Illyria, who shifts her glare between Buffy and Giles. Spike interrupts the awkward silence.
SPIKE
Well, that was a larf…now, what are we doing about getting Angel out of Creepy Twin Hell?
GILES
(Still embarrassed after his fight with Illyria) Well, I believe that the crystal is the key. If we all work together researching I believe we will find the answer.
Gunn surveys the room, noticing the high level of tension.
GUNN
Together, huh?
SCENE
Angel is lying on the floor, face bloodied. The rest of his bedroom is spattered in red. He rolls his head to see Cordy’s likewise bloodied face staring lifelessly back at him. He groans and tries to struggle away, but he is unable to move.
He stares hopelessly up at the ceiling and Buffy’s vamped out face comes into view. She leers down at him.
Angel turns his face away and Buffy leans in next to his face. He tries to move away, but is still unable to.
BUFFY
Geeze, Angel. What’s wrong? 250 years of inflicting this on people, and now you can’t stomach it. (She shakes her head) Pathetic.
She runs a finger down his cheek. Angel flinches.
BUFFY
Well, lover, I have to say…I expected more. But don’t worry; you’ve got time to grow back some balls. (She stands up, still grinning down at him) After all…you’re never leaving.
Buffy turns and walks from the room, shoving Cordy’s corpse with her foot on the way out.
Angel stares up at the ceiling, coughing up blood.
ANGEL
(softly) Never leaving.
