A gentle rain was falling as Buffy walked through the cemetery. The wet grass felt strange on her bare feet. She stopped, tried to remember where she had lost her shoes, but she couldn't. A noise from behind startled her and she quickly turned around, only to see a familiar face.
"Giles..." she said. "You scared me there. What are you doing here?"
The librarian said nothing, just grinned as he stepped closer. Then, right when he was close enough for her to hear his breathing, his face changed. Giles the Librarian left, and made room for Giles the vampire. Buffy stumbled back a few steps as Giles kept coming closer. His grin became a smile, and Buffy could see his pointed teeth.
"Giles?!"
He just started laughing. 'That's not his laugh', Buffy thought. 'That's not Giles... not anymore'.
Determined to end whatever was going on, she slowly pulled a wooden stake out from under her blouse and held it so Giles could see it. He advanced without the slightest bit of hesitation. Then Buffy jumped him and planted the stake right through his heart. And he didn't even try to stop her.
And nothing happened. He didn't scream in agony, he didn't turn to dust, he didn't die. Nothing. Well, he started laughing out loud. Buffy stared at him in disbelief. What was going on here? She gazed at the stake, still stuck in Giles' heart.
He used the moment of distraction to take a swing at her with his fist. The power of the blow spun Buffy around and she fell to the ground face down. In her fall, she still couldn't believe what was happening. But she never hit the ground. Right before she would, it opened up for her, and she fell through until she was stopped by a coffin. It took her a few seconds to come back to her full senses, and all she could hear was Giles' demonic laughter.
A noise from within the coffin made her turn away from her old Watcher, and just as she wanted to try to open the coffin, a hand came bursting through and grabbed her by the throat. A head followed shortly. A head with a vampire's face. Buffy's face.
At that moment, she broke and started to scream. Scream louder than she had ever screamed before.
