This starts exactly where "Do You?" left off. I highly recommend you read that story first. From Angel's point of view.

My head whipped around at the sound of her voice. So did her mother's. She was awake, and staring straight at me.
" Mom, can you let me and Angel be alone for a little while?" she asked her mother with out taking her eye's off of me.
"Sure, but you and I will be having a long talk as soon as you get home," she said with a nod of her head in my direction, letting us both know what this talk would be about. She then smiled at her daughter, and left the room, shutting the door behind her.
Turning back to Buffy, I studied my hands, the wall, and the tiles on the ceiling, anything but her.
"Angel, look at me." She said in a loving voice. I could do nothing but obey. I looked at her and studied the bruises, ranging in color from blue to purple to black, marring but not destroying her beauty. I finally met her eyes and she smiled at me lovingly.
"Hey." I said trying to stay calm, trying not to show my fear. The fear that she would hate me for not being there for her. "I…um…look, Buffy, I'm so sorry I wasn't there and I understand if you hate me. Just know that I love you."
"I don't hate you, Angel. I know that you had issues you had to deal with, it's just…."
"Just what?" I asked quietly, worried what her awnser would be.
"We wanted to help you, but you just pushed us away. You pushed me away." She said the last part sadly.
"I didn't want to hurt you more so I stayed away. I was afraid that if I was around you would remember something he did to you and you would hate me for causing you so much pain."
"Well, you know what??!! You did hurt me damnit!! I loved you so much, I just wanted to help you. And I still do love you," she shouted, suddenly becoming angry.
"How can you!!!??? I stalked you for months, tried to kill you, killed your friends. How can you love me after I did that to you." I yelled, also becoming angry.
"It wasn't you!! I thought you knew this. He killed them, not you."
"But it was still these hands that snapped Jenny's neck. It was still this voice that taunted you. I still have the memories, of everything I did." I whispered painfully.
"Why are you telling me this? I know everything you did, because you did them to me."
"Then why don't you blame me?" I asked her, wanting to know, but scared of the awnser.
"Because I don't blame you. I blame myself. It was my fault. You didn't want to that night, but I pushed, just like I always did. I killed every person he killed."
"No, you must never think that!! I wanted that long before that night, even before our first date."
"You did?"
"Of course I did. I've loved you since you knocked me on my ass behind the Bronze."
Hearing that she did something she hadn't done in a long time. She smiled. A before-Angelus-smile. And I knew then that she still loved me.
