*Author's note: This poem is supposed to me Buffy's memory of the occasion when she met Angel. I admit, it isn't like they met in the series, but I couldn't really make it fit. My creative talents are kinda limited that way.

Buffy Meets Angel (Buffy's memory)
I saw the shadows shifting,
I heard the rush of air;
the world suddenly seemed unreal to me,
as if it's fabric had a tear.
The young man I saw before me,
had the skin of the palest ghost;
and a yearning look in his eyes,
a look you never see in most.
It was almost like a hunger,
an endless aching need;
a rampantly burning fire,
without wood enough to feed.
I thought I heard him whisper,
as ever closer to me he came;
and even now, remembering,
I'd swear he said my name.
He came so close,we touched,
he smile was a blinding light;
and as he tilted my head back,
I lost all resolve to fight.
My name had been the Slayer,
the night was my domain;
but, there was a look in his eyes,
that deadened all my pain.
He let me go and smiled,
I'd almost melted to his will;
it seemed he'd reconsidered,
while closing in to kill.
He turned away and sighed,
I thought I saw a tear;
a vampire he may be, I thought,
but he really needs a beer.
He turned to me and laughed,just then,
it made my pulse just race;
as long as I live, I'll never forget,
the beauty of his face.
He turned away and walked to the west,
and then looked back and waved good-bye;
I watched him go, my heart aching so,
as golden color filled the sky.
He disappeared with the fleeing shadows then,
hiding from the moring sky;
I never knew the reason I survived that night,
and I'll never ask him why.
It's enough for me to live,
and see the humanity in his eyes;
he's a vampire, but he's MY vampire,
and his heart and soul are normal size.
I am the Slayer, that is true,
and know a vampire I may;
but listen when I tell you this,
MY vampire, I'll never slay!
