HELPING GET BETTER
Slowly, Buffy and Spike made their way to the Summers house hold. As beaten as he was, Spike was very close to becoming unconscious.
Buffy kept a steady hold on him, and they finally reached the house. She opened the front door and led him upstairs.
Once upstairs, she paused. "Spike, do you wanna get some sleep, or have a shower, or eat?" She asked.
"Shower first, Buffy," he whispered.
"That's okay. Come on, we have clean clothes and stuff for you," she said, leading him to the bathroom.
Spike flinched as they entered but Buffy's hands soothed over his back. "Cans you do do this or do you need help?" Buffy asked.
"I think I can handle it," Spike said, gently.
Buffy gently slid her arms away from his body but kept her hand in his as she fixed the water.
She pulled up and pulled the curtain closed. "I'm gunna go get you some clean clothes and fix you something to eat. Are you sure you're gunna be okay?" She asked.
"I'm fine Buffy. If I need help, I'll let you know," he said, with a small smile.
Buffy smiled a little. "Okay," she whispered. She reluctantly went toward the door before turning back. "I'm glad you're home," she said.
Spike looked at her in awe. "Me too," he whispered.
Buffy gave him another smiled and left him alone.

A few minutes later, Buffy came back and rested Spike's pants on the counter. She didn't wanna give him jeans in case his legs looked as bad as the rest of him. She didn't leave a shirt because she had to take a look at his torso.
Reluctantly she left the bathroom and waited for him in her room.

10 minutes later, Spike emerged from the bathroom, and was greeted with warm blood. He took the mug from Buffy. "Thanks, Pet," he said.
Buffy smiled and observed his now clean skin. "Lay on my bed, so I can take a look at your bruises and stuff," she said, softly.
Spike did as told as he drained his blood.
Buffy sat next to him with first aid kit and started with his ribs. "You wanna talk about what happened?" She asked.
"Not really," Spike said, flinching.
"Sorry," Buffy said, with sympathy.
"It's okay," Spike said, softly.
Buffy managed to get Spike ribs taped without too much of a problem. "I wanted to do those first. You can sleep now if you want," she said, cleaning up the cuts on his face.
"You like you need some sleep, too," Spike said, his eyes falling shut.
Buffy's hand crept to his. "I will. Now that you're home, I will," she whispered.
Spike's hand squeezed her as he drifted to sleep.
Buffy finished cleaning his wounds and change her clothes. Carefully, she laid herself in his arms and fell asleep.

When Spike awoke, Buffy was still slumbering next to him.
He looked at her with awe and closed his eyes. Immediately, he was sound asleep again.
When Buffy woke, she reluctantly slid from Spike's arms, causing him to whimper in protest.
She smiled and tucked the blanket around him, before grabbing clothes for a shower.
When she came out of the shower, Spike was trembling. Buffy sat next to him, and ran a hand over his face. "Shhh, Spike. It's okay. You're home," she whispered.
Spike gave a final shudder and his eyes fluttered open.
Buffy gave a small smile and ran her fingers over his cheek bones. "You okay?" She asked, concerned.
Spike let out a shaky sigh. "Keep forgetting where I am," he said. He noticed her carrying her purse and coat. "Where are you going?"
"I have to go to work. I'll be back at noon. Do you need anything before I go?" She asked.
Spike shook his head. "I just need to get some more sleep," he said.
Buffy stood up and put her jacket on. She bent and kissed his forehead tenderly. "Willow's keeping an eye on you. I promise I'll be back though," she said, reluctantly leaving him.
Buffy walked downstairs and met Willow in the foyer. "I have to go to work. I'm coming back at noon. He'll probably sleep most of the time I'm gone. Can you check on him every so often?" She asked.
Willow nodded. "Sure thing. He'll be fine," she said.
"Thanks, Will," Buffy said, leaving.

As promised, Buffy came home at noon. She heated up some blood and took it upstairs.
Spike was awake and standing in the middle of her room, flexing his muscles.
She smiled and set his mug on her nightstand. "What are you doing?" She asked.
"Trying to figure our what I can and can't do," Spike answered, raising his arms.
He pulled a few sore muscles in his mending ribs and winced. "I can't raise my arms over my head. That can't be good," he said.
Buffy sat on her bed. 'Well, you heal fast, and I'm gunna start training with you so we can build your strength up," she said, her eyes raking over his body.
Spike looked at her with raised eyebrow. "You don't have to do that Pet," he said.
Buffy sighed softly. "Spike, come sit," she whispered.
Spike reluctantly went over and sat next to her. "Buffy, I'm serious," Spike said.
"So am I. I need you strong and healthy. I need to be my friend again, and help me fight this, because I can't do it alone," she said, grasping her hand in his.
Spike looked over at her with wonder. "Buffy?"
Buffy squeezed his hand. "Spike just trust me. Now, drink your blood and I'm gunna change your bandages," she said, smiling.
Spike smiled back and stood. He picked up his mug and drained his blood as Buffy pulled out a first aid kit.
Spike put his mug down and sat on the bed.
Buffy climbed in behind him and gently pulled his bandages off. Tenderly, she ran her fingers over his skin, inspecting his wounds. "What else hurts?" Buffy asked.
"Just my legs," Spike said, softly.
"You want me to look?" Buffy asked, her hands going to his hips.
Spike flinched away from her. "Buffy, please don't," he whimpered.
Buffy eyes filled with confusion. "Spike, if you're in pain, I wanna help you," she said.
Tears came to Spike's eyes and he began to tremble. "Buffy, I can't. It hurts," he whispered.
"I know, Spike. That's why you should let me help you," she said, going toward him.
Buffy gently touched his face and pulled him against her.
Spike slumped against her and cried.
Gently, Buffy helped him lay down. "I have to go back to work, but I'll be back in 2 1/2 hours. Are you gunna be okay?" She asked.
Spike took a shaky breath and nodded. "Yeah, I'll be okay," he whispered.
"You sure?" she asked. "Cus I can call and tell the principle that an emergency came up and I couldn't make it back to work," she said.
Spike shook his head. "No, go to work. I'll be okay," Spike whispered, relaxing against the bed.
Buffy stood and kissed his forehead. "Okay." She pulled away and gazed at him as she stroked his cheekbone. "I'll be back later," she said.
Reluctantly, Buffy moved away from him and left for work.

When Buffy retuned home, She went upstairs. Spike was sound asleep and she smiled at his boyish face.
She took her work clothes off, and slid in the bed next to him.
Spike murmured her name and pulled her closer to him.
Buffy kissed his forehead softly and stroked his cheek. "Spike," she whispered.
Spike's eyes fluttered open. "Hey." He looked at his arms around her. "Sorry," he whispered and began to move away from her.
"No Spike, it's okay," Buffy said with a warm smile.
Spike hesitantly settled back up against her and gave a small smile.
Buffy kissed him softly. 'I'm gunna help you get better, no matter what," she said.
