Disclaimer: Buffy and co.,belong to Joss, WB, and Mutant Enemy. Sadly, I work for none of those people, or companies. Please don't sue. The quote below is from a Dixie Chicks song. I'm not one of them either. It should make more sense when you know who and why my killer is.
Author's Note:

'One more smile's all I can fake
There is a wound inside me
And it's bleeding like a flood
There's times when I see a light ahead
And hope is not enough
And another night surrounds me
And it pounds me like a wave.'

Buffy and Oz waited at the Sunnydale Bus Depot for the bus bringing Xander and Willow back from L.A. The bus pulled up and Willow and Xander stepped off. There were hugs all 'round, Oz holding on to Willow for a bit longer than a normal hug. Buffy smiled, glad to have her friends back. "So how was Cordy?"

Xander shrugged, "Well she's still working with Angel, but she seems happy."

"And happy to see us," Willow put in, "if you'd have told me five years ago that I'd be visiting Cordelia Chase, I would have thought you were crazy. Still I do miss her sometimes. It'd be nice to have the whole Scooby Gang back together again."

Buffy stood in her kitchen, making a salad, waiting for her friends to come over for dinner. There was a knock at the door. She put down the knife she was using to cut tomatoes, then recinsidered and picked it up again. This was Sunnydale after all. She opened the door and stared open mouthed at the perso who stood there. Angel! Buffy invited him in frowning as she noticed how sombre he looked. "Angel, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

Angel nodded. "It's not me. I've got bad news. You might wanna call everyone over."

Buffy waved the hand holding the knife, gesturing at the dinner table, obviously set for company. "They're on the way."

The gang sat around the table idly playing with cutlery, waiting for Angel to speak. Finally Xander couldn't take it anymore. He glared suspiciously at Angel. "Are you here for a reason? Or did you just want to get us all together so you could kill us."

Angel glared back. "I've got bad news. I was trying to find a way to say it."

Everyone was silent. There was something in Angel's tone they just didn't want to argue with. Even Xander. Angel stood quietly for a moment, looking at them all sadly. "Cordelia's dead."

"W-what?" Willow stuttered. "But we just saw her. She was fine."

Buffy stared at Angel. "How did she die?" she questioned, "Was it a vampire?"

Angel shook his head. "It was poison. I could smell it in her blood."

Oz hugged Willow, made a suggestion. "Maybe we should go see Giles."

"No", Buffy disagreed, "Giles can't help with this. Cordy was killed by poison not demons."

Xander stood up. "Giles is book guy Buffy. He knows something about everything. It's worth a try."

Giles' house. Buffy rang the doorbell. Hammered on the door. No answer. She turned to her friends concerned. "Giles said he was going to be home all night. He would have called me if he was going out. This is wiggy." Buffy broke down the door.

Giles was lying on his couch, covered with a quilt. He looked like he was sleeping. That was, until you noticed the blood pooled on the floor, and the gaping wound in his neck. Oz threw up. Willow rushed to his side, fighting back tears. "Oz are you okay?"

Oz nodded weakly. "Yeah. It's just...I'm not usually around when you guys find dead bodies. And it's different when it's somebody that you really know and like."

Buffy's phone woke her from an uneasy sleep. It was Willow and she sounded close to hysterical. "Willow, you have to slow down. I can't understand you."

It's Xander, Buffy," Willow cried, "I called him this morning and he didn't answer, so I went to his house. His neck was broken! He's dead. Buffy how can my Xander be dead?!"

Willow sat in Joyce's kitchen. She looked terrible, like she'd been crying forever. She looked pleadingly at Joyce. "You said Buffy would be here soon? I need to tell her something."

Joyce nodded. "She's out looking for evidence. She'll be back soon. Is it anything you can tell me?"

"I think it's Angel." Willow spoke softly, Joyce had to lean forward to hear her.

"The killer?" Joyce questioned.

"Uh-huh. Everything was fine, until he showed up to tell us that Cordelia was dead. Then Giles was killed and then...this morning...I found Xander..." Willow started to cry again.

Angel and Buffy came into the kitchen. They were both grimy and somewhat blood stained from poking around in things the police wouldn't have wanted them touching. Buffy put an arm around Willow."Are you holding up okay?"

Willow tried to nod bravely. Buffy moved away, heading for the stairs. "I'm gonna take a shower, clean up a bit."

As Buffy disappeared, Joyce called Angel over. "I need something off the top of that cupboard. Can you reach it for me?"

Angel moved toward her. "Sure, what do you need?"

Joyce pointed. "That electric fypan up there."

As Angel reached up Joyce stepped up to him. She plunged a fork into his neck and ripped it open. Angel fell to the floor, bleeding heavily. Joyce grabbed a wooden barbeque skewer and pushed it into his heart. Angel crumbled into dust. A knife whizzed through the air, stabbed through Joyce's back, puncturing her heart. She died instantly.

Buffy walked into the kitchen, buttoning her shirt, hair still damp. She couldn't believe the sight that greeted her. Angel was gone. Her mother and Willow were lying on the floor. Blood. She ran to her mother, knealt down, tried to find a pulse. It was too late. A frying pan smashed down on Buffy's head. She passed out.

Buffy awoke with a heavy feeling on her stomach. It was Willow, straddling her body, looking sown at her. Buffy tried to move, to fight, but Willow was holding her arms down and she couldn't feel her legs. "Willow...why can't I feel my legs? What have you done?"

"Broke 'em. I used a local anesthetic first. Couldn't have you waking up to soon." Willow giggled, and bounced happily.

"Willow get off me", Buffy tried to sound threatening, "I don't want to have to hurt you."

Willow smiled. "But...I wanna hurt you."

"Why? Why me? Why Cordy and Giles and Xander? How could you kill Xander?"

Willow shrugged. "They had it coming. Cordy you have to understand - she was Cordelia. That's reason enough.

"But Giles and Xander? And my mom?"

"I had to kill your mom. After she killed Angel.."

Buffy cut in, "She killed Angel?!"

"After she killed Angel, I had to, she would have been in the way. As for Giles, well, I was always the one who hung at the library, I studied, I helped with the research - I was always there. But he always liked you better. He loved you. His Slayer." Willow practically spat out those last two words.

Buffy struggled, trying to pull her arms away, but she still felt weak from being kocked out. And the anasthetic. "Why Xander?" she asked, "You always loved Xander."

Willow looked momentarily sad. "He never loved me. He liked you and then Cordy..."

"He loved you! You know he did."

"Not 'til he thought he couldn't have me. And not enough. Even after I told him I loved him he slept with Faith." A tear ran down Willow's cheek, and Buffy had the sudden feeling she was crying more for herself than for Xander.

"What about me?" Buffy asked sharply, "What's your excuse there?"

"I did everything for you! I put my life on the line. I did your homework, I fought in your battles. I did everyting!" Willow angrily banged Buffy'd arms against the floor. "You always put Angel before me. But I don't need you anymore. I found someone who loves me."

Buffy looked sick. "Oz?! Oz helped you do this?"

"Not Oz."

Buffy was startled. "You killed Oz?"

Willow grinned. "No. I couldn't kill Oz. We're keeping him as a pet."

"Who's we?"

Spike strolled into view. "Hello Slayer." He looked at Willow. "Hurry up pet, we should go."

Willow gazed at Spike, smiled seductively. "Hold her for me. I wanna make her scream."

"No time for screams, just do it." Spike handed Willow a knife and took over holding Buffy's arms.

Buffy whimpered "Willow, please."

Willow stroked Buffy's hair. leaned forward and kissed her mouth. She looked deep into Buffy's eyes and with one swift movement slit her throat.

Spike and Willow watched the Slayer die. They linked hands and walked off into the night.

The End.
