Just Takes Time
Spike watched as Angelus moved in for the kill. He looked at his dark queen and then he looked at Buffy. Gently he laid Drusilla down and went over to the garden.
"No friends, no hope. Take all that away and what's left?" Angelus said, winging the sword.
"Me," a voice said from behind him.
Angelus turned only to meet Spike's fist.
Angelus went sprawling and Spike offered a hand to Buffy. "You okay?" He asked, with a softness in his eyes.
Buffy slid her hand into his and he pulled her to her feet. "yeah. What about Drusilla?" Buffy asked.
Spike looked at her. "You're more important," he said, with a smile.
Buffy's heart swelled with affection. She kissed him quickly before picking up her sword.
Spike stood frozen for a few moments before helping her fight Angelus.
Buffy sword fought with Angelus before a light passed through him.
A now- souled Angel looked at her, then at Spike. "Buffy?"
"Angel?" Buffy asked, dropping her arm.
She walked into his arms and let him hold her. She saw the mouth of Acathala opening. Tears welled in her eyes and she pulled away.
"What's happening?" Angel asked.
"Don't about it," Buffy said.
She kissed him softly. "Close your eyes," she instructed softly.
Angel closed his eyes she kissed him again. "I'm sorry," she whispered, before thrusting the sword into his chest.
Angel gasped and watched as Buffy backed away, crying. Spike hand come up and wrapped his arms around her.
Buffy turned her head away and silent tears slid down her face. Her arms went around Spike as Acathala closed.
Spike waited until he was sure Acathala was closed, before pulling away. "Pet?"
Buffy lifted her head to look at him. "I'll be okay," she sniffled.
"You sure?" Spike asked, wiping her wet cheeks.
Buffy nodded. "What about Drusilla?" She asked looking at the now stirring vampire.
Spike looked t Drusilla, an inner war beginning behind his eyes.
Drusilla stood up and looked at Spike holding the slayer. "What happened to you, my Spike."
"You decided Angelus was a better demon. He's gone. You lost," Spike said, rubbing Buffy's back.
Drusilla began to wail. "I should've known."
Spike cringed at her wail and went over to her. He punched her hair, knocking her out.
About an hour later, Buffy was laying on the couch with her head in Spike's lap. They had tied Drusilla up and Buffy was exhausted.
Spike ran a hand over her hair. "You should go home, Pet," he said.
Tears slid from her eyes. "My mom threw me out."
"Oh, Pet. Tonight, I'll take you home and you talk to your mom," Spike said, softly.
Buffy sniffled. "Thanks. I haven't slept in days so do you mind?"
"Not at all," he said, smiling. "Get some rest, Pet."
Buffy closed her eyes and drifted to sleep and Spike wasn't too far behind.
Spike woke a little after sunset. He slept longer then usual because the fight with Angelus wore him out.
Buffy was still sleeping in his lap and by the looks of it, she was sleeping peacefully. He continued stroking her hair, absently, knowing he had to feed and she had to get home.
Buffy stirred moments later. "Spike," she mumbled.
Spike smiled. "Come on, Pet," He said, gently pushing her up. "You gotta get home and I'm hungry," he said.
Buffy stood up and stretched. "Do you have any blood here?"
Spike thought for a minute. "I don't know. Give me a second." He disappeared into a room.
He came back a few minutes later he came back. "There was some so we can go," he said.
Buffy nodded and they headed into the night.
Pausing on Buffy's porch, Buffy took a deep breath. "Spike, I can't do this," she whispered.
"I'll be here with you every step," Spike said, knocking on the door.
Joyce opened the door. "Buffy, thank god," she cried.
Buffy hugged her mother and the three of them went inside.
Later, Buffy was asleep on the couch with her head in Spike's lap. She explained everything to her mother, and she was drained out.
Joyce came downstairs and smiled at her daughter. She placed the blanket over her and said good night to Spike.
Spike smiled and joined his slayer in sleep.
The next morning when Buffy woke, Spike was stroking her hair.
"Morning, Pet," he said, softly.
"Mmm, Morning," she said, turning slightly.
Buffy glanced up at him and smiled. "You're still her," she said.
"Yeah. Do you want me to got?" He asked.
Buffy sat up. "No. Things are easier when you're here," she said.
"I'll stay as long as you need me," Spike said, smiling.
Buffy looked up at him. "What if, it's forever?"
"I can stay forever," Spike said, his hand coming to her cheek.
Buffy smiled. "Good," she said. She leaned forward and pressed her lips against his.
Spike responded gently.
Buffy pulled away a little. She smiled and kissed him lightly. She stood up and went to the kitchen.
There was a note on the fridge form her mom.
'Buffy,
I had to go to work, but there's blood in the fridge for Spike.'
Mom
Buffy smiled. "God, I lover her," she muttered.
"Love who?" Spike asked.
"My mom. She said there's blood in the fridge for you," Buffy said.
Spike raised an eyebrow. "Your mom's nice," he said, going to the fridge.
"I'm surprised she liked you. She didn't really like Angel," Buffy said, munching on an apple.
"We have something else in common," Spike said, absently. "No offense."
"It's okay. He's gone. I'm getting over it."
"Pet, what about school?" Spike asked.
"I don't know. I go expelled so..." Buffy said.
"Your mom or your watcher should take to the principle," Spike said.
"Schools almost done, but I guess Giles could take it up with the school board or something," Buffy sighed. She glanced up at Spike. "Spike, what about Dru?"
Spike looked at her, pain in his eyes. "I loved her or a hundred years, Buffy. It's just gunna take some time," he said, softly.
Buffy frowned. "I dint' mean to upset you," she said.
"It's okay," She said.
Buffy leaned up and kissed him softly. Her arms snaked around his neck and she pushed herself flush against him.
Spike moaned into her mouth. "Buffy..." he whispered.
Buffy smiled and leaned up and kissed him again.
There was a knock on the door, forcing them to break apart.
"This better be end of the world important," Buffy grumbled, going to the door.
She opened it and there was Xander and Willow. "Hey guys," she said, smiling.
Willow hugged her. "Buffy, you're okay! Why weren't you in school?"
"Well," Buffy said, going back inside with Xander and Willow. "Snyder expelled me after the murder," Buffy said, softly as she leaned against Spike.
Xander and Willow watched with wide eyes at them. Their eyes widened even more when Spike kissed her forehead.
"Uh... Buffy?" Xander stammered.
Buffy smiled a little. "I had to send Angel to hell. The spell worked but it was too late. I stayed at the mansion 'til the sunset and Spike brought me home. Mom kicked me out but... I don't' think she meant it and Spike's been here ever since," she said, smiling up at Spike.
Willow raised an eyebrow. "Well, I guess if you're happy..."
"Thanks, Will. You're the best. Mom seemed okay with it. Giles is gunna be a tough nut to crack," she said.
"And me!" Xander protested.
Buffy glared at him. "Well, that's too bad. I trust him and you're just gunna have to get used to it."
"But it's Spike," Xander whined.
"That's the beauty," Buffy said, squeezing Spike affectionately.
"Yeah, but..." Xander began.
"Xander, give it up!" Willow snapped. "I have one request."
"What?" Buffy asked.
"No more trying to kill us," Willow said, smiling.
"Deal," Spike said, kissing Buffy's hair. "I still have to explain things to my mom more thoroughly though."
"Have you lost your mind?" Xander asked.
"Xander, come on. Why can't you just except who I fall in love with?" Buffy said, then blushed.
"In love?" Willow and Spike asked.
Buffy looked up at him. "Maybe a little," she said, smiling.
Spike kissed her softly.
Willow smiled and Xander gagged.
"Buffy, Giles wants to know what happened to you so you should probably call him," Willow said.
"Yeah, Will, not a lot to say but I will," Buffy said.
"Xander and I have plans with Cordy and Oz. We just wanted to make sure you were okay," Willow said.
"I am. Just a little sleepy," Buffy said.
"Well, we'll see you later. K?"
"Yeah. Bye, guys," Buffy said, as Willow and Xander left.
Buffy turned to look at Spike who kissed her softly.
Buffy snaked her arms around his neck and pushed herself up against him.
Spike pulled away. "I love you, Buffy."
"I love you, too," Buffy whispered. "You're not gunna leave are you?"
Spike shook his head. "Never," he promised.
