LOVE FOR A NEW WOMAN
Angel watched as Spike talked to Joyce in Buffy's kitchen. He growled and ran to the porch. "Spike," he growled, blocked by the barrier.
Spike looked over at Angel. "Go away."
Joyce went over and stood next to Spike. "Leave Angel."
"Joyce, he's dangerous," Angel growled.
"No he's not. I know he's a vampire but he's not dangerous," Joyce said, as the front door slammed open.
Buffy tackled Spike. "Angel, why don't come on in," she said, straddling Spike on the floor.
Angel practically fell through the barrier.
"Buffy, get off him," Joyce yelled.
Buffy looked at her mom in horror. "Mom!"
"Buffy," Joyce said, in a motherly tone.
Buffy looked down at Spike who had tears in his eyes. She dropped her stake. "What happened?" She asked softly.
Spike sighed. "Nothing," he said.
Buffy frowned and got off him. She stood and offered her hand to him. "Come on," she said.
Hesitantly, Spike gripped her hand and got to his feet.
Buffy pulled him to the living room and sat him on the couch. Joyce and Angel were right behind her. Buffy sat next to him. "What happened?"
Spike stood up. "You and your boyfriend is what happened!" He flared. "Well not you but definitely you," he said, glaring at Angel.
"Why is it my fault?" Angel growled.
"Because you were so in love that you lost your soul. You come back, like the poof you are and take Dru from me. Again. If you loved Buffy as much as you say you did, losing your soul wouldn't have made a difference. No matter who you hurt, you're never happy," Spike said, tears running down his face.
Buffy went over and put her hand on his back. "Spike, calm down."
"Sorry." He turned to face Buffy. "You happy? You got your pookey bear back."
"Angel and I are just friends," Buffy said.
Spike chuckled softly. "You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love 'til it kills you both. You'll fight and you'll shag, but you'll never be friends," he said.
Buffy hands moved to his cheek. "That's not true."
Spike took a shaky breath and calmed his nerves. "I might as well greet mister sunshine," he mumbled.
Buffy wrapped her arms around him. "Don't say that."
The slight comfort caused Spike to start crying again. He wrapped his arms around Buffy's waist and sobbed.
Buffy and Spike collapsed to the floor.
Angel frowned at how hurt Spike wad. His frown deepened when Joyce went over and knelt beside them. She rubbed Spike's back and was surprised at how gentle Buffy was being with him.
Buffy rubbed small circles in his back and tried to calm him down.
After awhile, Spike's tears stopped but he didn't pull away from Buffy. He closed his eyes and drifted to sleep in Buffy's arms.
Buffy's mom smiled and grabbed the blanket off the back of the couch. Carefully, she wrapped it around Spike as he inhaled Buffy's calming scent.
Joyce stood up and went to clean the kitchen.
Angel knelt beside Buffy. "Buffy, I'm a little lost," he said, his voice almost a whisper.
"Me too," Buffy said, making Spike more comfortable in her arms.
Angel stood up with a frown. "You look really tired. I'll let you get some rest," he said, going toward the door.
"Angel," she said, softly. He turned to look at her. "We're gunna talk about this."
Angel nodded and left.
Buffy looked down at Spike. She hated to wake him, but figured he couldn't be real comfortable on the floor. "Spike," she called softly, running a hand over his face.
All she got was a murmur of her name.
Despite herself, she smiled. "Come on. We're just gunna move to the couch," she said, easing them up.
Spike, still half asleep, allowed Buffy to lead him to the sofa.
Buffy sat down and Spike curled in her arms. He began purring as they fell asleep.
Buffy woke when the sun rose. Her mother closed the curtains in the living room so it was safe for Spike.
Carefully she eased out form underneath him and he whimpered in protest.
Buffy ran a hand over his face. "It's okay. Just sleep some more. I have to go to school," she said, reluctantly heading upstairs.
When she came down, Spike was curled in a small ball, trying to sleep.
Buffy went over and touched his cheek softly. "Shh, it's okay," she whispered. She leaned down and kissed him softly. "Just try and get some sleep. I'll be back later," she said, and left.
When Buffy came home, Spike was in the kitchen talking to Joyce.
Buffy went over and slid her hands over his back. "Hey. You okay?" She asked.
Spike looked up at her. "I'm okay," he said, softly.
Buffy smiled. "I'm glad. You gunna patrol with me tonight?" She asked, running her fingers over his cheekbones.
"Yeah, Why?" Spike asked.
"Just checking," Buffy said.
When the sun set, Buff and Spike hit a non- popular cemetery.
"Spike?" Buffy asked.
Spike turned toward her. "Yeah?"
"Are you gunna try and get Dru back?" Buffy asked, her eyes downward.
Spike sighed. "I don't think so. I can't beat Angelus so, she'll always see me as second best. Can't have a relationship like that," he said, as they continued walking.
"Well, what do you look for in a women/" Buffy asked.
"Smart, beautiful, loyal, stubborn, strong.." Spike trailed off. "I just know. I see a sparkle in her eyes and my heart melts." Spike paused, realizing he just described Buffy.
Buffy smiled, realizing the same thing. "Spike?"
Spike looked at her. "Hm?"
She leaned up and kissed him softly. "You really think I'm beautiful?"
"How'd you know I was talking about you?" Spike asked.
Buffy smiled. "If it wasn't me, who was it?"
Spike smiled. He leaned down and kissed her. "Just asking how you knew," he said, against her lips.
Buffy smile and kissed him again.
The blonde couple kissed for a few hours then finished patrolling.
Back at the house, Buffy's mom left her a not saying she had to go out of town for a few days.
Spike came up behind her and kissed her hair softly. "Mom's going out of town?"
"No big deal." She turned in his arms. "Spike I have to talk to Angel."
"He's gunna do everything in his power to convince you that this is ridiculous," Spike said.
Buffy kissed him softly. "So what? He's just gunna have to deal with it. I'll make him understand somehow," she said, yawning.
"You should go up to bed," Spike said.
Buffy smiled. "You can use the spare room if you want. I'll make sure it's sun proof," she said, kissing him.
"Goodnight Pet," Spike said.
"Goodnight Spike," Buffy said, going upstairs.
Spike watched as Buffy disappeared upstairs and shook his head.
He locked the doors and shut the lights off. He went upstairs, and found Buffy fast asleep in bed. He left her odor open a crack, before heading to the guest room.
He stripped to his pant and asleep before his head hit the pillow.
A few hours later, Buffy startled awake. Outside, a storm was lighting up the sky. A clap of thunder almost made Buffy jump out of her skin.
Hastily, Buffy got out of bed and went across the hall. Spike was asleep with the sheet pulled down to his waist. Buffy could see his jeans sticking out and let out the breath she was holding.
Spike's right arm was under his head and his left was resting in his waist.
Buffy climbed in and snuggled up against him. She laid her head on his chest and her arms went over his waist.
Spike opened his eyes and looked down at the slayer his admired so much. Obviously the storm was freakin' her out. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. "You okay, Pet?"
Buffy shook in his arms and whimpered.
Spike kissed the top of her head. "Try and get some sleep," he whispered.
Buffy exhaled loudly and kissed his chest softly. Her eyes closed and she slipped into sleep.
The next morning, Buffy woke to Spike's hand running over her hair, and purring softly.
She moved her thumb across his abs. "Thanks for letting me stay with you," she said, softly.
Spike smiled and kissed her hair. "No problem Pet."
Buffy propped herself up on an elbow and looked down at him. "Spike I like having you around."
"I like being around," Spike said, running his hand down her back.
"So you're not gunna leave?" She whispered.
"Not unless you make me," Spike said.
Buffy leaned in and kissed him softly. "So if I make you stay, you don't mind?"
Spike shook his head. "Not at all, Luv," he said, kissing her softly.
