Buffy relaxed as Spike rubbed her back. Tears still streamed down her face, but it was comforting to have someone with her. Even if it was Spike.
"It's Mom," she whispered.
Spike looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "What happened?"
"They found a shadow on her brain. She's going to the hospital tonight," Buffy said, moving closer to him.
Spike pulled her closer to him, and was surprised when she leaned into her. "She'll be okay," Spike said.
Buffy buried her face in his neck. "I'm so sorry for saying all those things to you," she said, softly.
Spike frowned and kissed her hair. "Don't worry about it."
"You wanna go inside?" She whispered.
"Sure," Spike said, helping her to feet.
Once inside, Spike sat Buffy at the counter and began to make hot chocolate.
"You know your way pretty well," Buffy said, wiping her eyes.
"Do this a lot with your mom," Spike said, leaning on the counter.
Buffy swallowed her tears. "Spike, what am I gunna do if I loose Mom?" She asked softly.
"I can't tell you that she's not gunna die, because I don't know. If something does happen, I'll be here if you let me. I'll be her for you and for Dawn," he said, giving her the hot chocolate.
Buffy sipped her hot chocolate. "At least somebody's here for us," she mumbled.
"Captain Cardboard doesn't come around anymore?" Spike asked.
"I never see him. He doesn't come see me. I mean he took care of me when I got hurt, but.." She trailed off.
Spike rubbed her back again. "You should talk to him. Something might be going on that you don't know about," he said, sipping hot chocolate.
Buffy looked at him. "What do you mean?" She asked.
"Maybe he's planning something. Just doesn't want you to know," Spike said.
Buffy drank more of her hot chocolate. "Yeah, well, I'm not gunna chase him for it."
"He's a wanker, if you ask my opinion," Spike said.
"I didn't. What does that mean anyway? You say weird stuff, like Giles, never know what you British guys are talking about," she mumbled.
Spike's hands crept to her sides and he started tickling her. "Well, Rupes and I never know what you American's are talking about either," he said, as they fell to the floor.
"Spike!" Buffy screamed, as he tickled her
mercilessly.
Buffy's fingers went to his sides and she tickled him back.
Buffy and Spike rolled around the kitchen tickling eachother.
Spike finally go Buffy on her back and straddled her hips. He rested his hands on her ribs. "Fell better?"
Buffy was panting and smiling. "Yeah. I do. Thanks," she said.
Spike smiled. "Good," he said.
Buffy pulled Spike's lips down to hers and kissed him. She bent her leg and pushed him closer.
Spike moaned into her mouth.
Buffy rolled them over without breaking the kiss.
Spike pulled her closer to him and licked her lips seeking entrance.
Buffy tentatively opened her mouth and met Spike's tongue with her own. She ground her pelvis into his and felt Spike get hard.
She pulled her lips away from his and gazed down at him. "Spike.." she moaned.
Spike had desire clouding her vision. "Buffy," he whispered.
Buffy rocked against him. "Can you get upstairs?" She asked.
Spike smiled a little. "Luv, as much as I would love to take you upstairs and make love to you like never before, you have a boyfriend," he said.
Buffy got off him and helped him to his feet. "I don't care. He doesn't want me anymore so.. And besides you want it and so do I." She paused. "I wasn't gunna be some fling, if that's what you're thinking."
"If we do this Buffy, it's gunna change everything. I don't want you in that kind of argument with the boy," Spike said.
Buffy rolled her eyes. "Fine, you win with your nobleness."
Spike smiled. "Good. Now go upstairs and get some sleep," he said.
Buffy smiled. "Okay. You gunna patrol with me tomorrow night?" She asked.
"If you want me to," Spike said, cleaning up the kitchen.
"I do," Buffy said.
Buffy smiled. "Goodnight, Spike," she said, softly.
"Goodnight, Pet," he said, and she went upstairs.
Spike finished cleaning up the kitchen and locked up her house before heading home.
The next night, Buffy walked into Spike's crypt to find him putting on his duster. "Ready?"
"Just about," Spike said, following her out.
"Spike," Buffy said, when he shut the door.
Spike looked at her. "Wha-?"
He was cut off by Buffy's tender lips.
Buffy pulled away after a brief second.
Spike's eyes were wide with wonder. "I thought we talked about this last night, Pet?" He asked, as they began walking.
"Yeah, but, I broke up with Riley today, so it's okay," Buffy said.
"You're gunna be the death of me slayer," Spike said, shaking his head.
"I know," Buffy said, slipping her hand in his.
Spike fingers entwined with hers and he squeezed them lightly.
After several hours, they went to Buffy's house.
Joyce was in the kitchen drinking tea.
"Mom!" Buffy said, hugging her.
"Hi honey," Joyce said, as Spike came in. "Oh, hi Spike," she said, smiling.
Spike smiled back. "Hey Joyce. How you feeling?"
"Yeah. How'd your tests go?" Buffy asked.
"You might wanna sit down Buffy," Joyce said.
Buffy looked at Spike then sat down at the counter. "How bad?"
"It's a brain tumor," Joyce said.
Spike's eyes widened and he saw Buffy's eyes fill with fear. He went over and put his hands on her shoulders.
"It's very early. I'm going for surgery next week. We probably got it in time. You should have no reason to worry," Joyce said, resting her hand on Buffy's.
Spike squeezed Buffy's shoulders in comfort. "Buffy things will be okay," Spike said.
"You don't know that," Buffy said, softly.
Joyce squeezed Buffy's hands. "Buffy, it's still very early. I'm gunna be fine. Don't worry," Joyce said.
Buffy nodded. "You should get some sleep," he said.
Joyce smiled. "I know. I'll see you two in the morning. Goodnight, Spike," she said.
"Goodnight Joyce," Spike said, as she went upstairs. "Come on, Pet. Lets get you to bed," he said, scooping Buffy up.
Buffy slumped against Spike as he took her upstairs.
Spike gently laid Buffy in bed and sat next to her. "You okay, Pet?"
"How could she have a brain tumor?" Buffy whispered.
"I don't know, Luv. But try and get some sleep," he said, pulling the covers up to her chin.
"Spike?" She asked.
"Yeah," he asked.
"Stay with me," she mumbled.
Spike toed off his boots and shrugged off his duster. He slipped in beside her and spooned against her back. "Goodnight, Luv," he whispered.
"Goodnight, Spike," she said, and drifted into sleep.
