Buffy The Vampire Slayer > BTVS - Season Three
Beyond Love by Aliza
[Reviews - 0]

Disclaimer: Xander, Willow, Oz, and all of the other Buffy the Vampire Slayer characters, unfortunatly, belong to Joss, the writters, and the folks over at Mutant Enemy productions, not me.

Author's Notes: Some of the dialouge from the original episode may not be correct. I tried to keep it as close to the actuall script as I possibly could.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It wasn't something I asked for. I'm not even sure if it was something I wanted at first. But I loved her anyway. Willow, I mean. I always have, I just never recognized it as that kind of love. Not until someone else got there first. Oz.

We had been given a task. Nothing big, a simple spell. It was important, though. To important to be left to just me. But, most things were.

Willow had given us instructions, complete with pictures.

"There's you, and there's me." Oz was pointing out the stick figures, identifying them.

"How can you tell? They both look kinda stick-figurey to me."

"Well, this one's got a little guitar, see?" Of course. Oz's music was one of the 3 things that made him Oz. The other 2 being his constant lack of visible emotions, and his tendency to turn into a werewolf on the night before, of, and after the full moon.

"Well, look at that"

"Nobody like my Will." His Will? How dare he! She wasn't his! Willow was mine, strictly. Always had been, always would be, and he knew it. No matter how hard Oz tried, what Willow and I had he couldn't take, or even begin to understand. Sure, they had love. But we had something more. A bond no one could break. We understood each other, accepted each other's faults, appreciated each others gifts and talents. And we had pain too. Agonizing pain. And loss, and grief, and suffering beyond what normal people experience in a life time. It would have been unbearable, if not for that steady shoulder to cry on, that familiar face to make it all right. Yeah, we had something beyond love. We had friendship, too.

But there was work to be done. Work for Willow. She was counting on us, and I wasn't going to let her down. So I let it go.

"No sir, there is not"
