Angel sighed as he eased himself into the large easy chair in his room. Life had finally caught up with him. To an outsider, Angel looked like a normal 85 year old man. But, those who had known Angel knew that he was much older. Angel reached over, and grabbed the large photo album sitting beside him. He opened it up, and relived all the memories displayed inside. The sight of all the photos touched Angel deeply. All his friends were gone now. Buffy had died before Angel even received his shanshu; killed by a drunk driver at the age of 30. By the time he had received his humanity, all those who were with him at the beginning, Cordelia, Wesley, Fred, and Gunn, were all in their 50’s. They had long since quit Angel Investigations, and had lives of their own. Those in Sunnydale had also either died, or moved out of Sunnydale. Angel was now all that remained.

Just as he was about to fall asleep, he heard the door open. Angel just sat quietly as the nurse came to check on him. Angel knew he was dying. He had lived in his body for over three hundred years; he knew it was about to give out. “Angel? There is a kid here from the local high school to read to you,” the nurse said. Angel had never married, so he had no family to visit him. The nurse felt badly, so she made sure that someone came once a week to read to him. Angel sat and listened as a young girl read The Princess Bride. As he listened, he felt himself starting to fade. Suddenly, he saw a golden light appear by the window. The light faded to reveal a beautiful girl in all white, with long blonde hair. “Buffy?” Angel asked. “No, sir. My name is Cori,” the teenager said, and continued to read. “Angel, it’s me. That girl can’t hear me or see me; only you can. I’m here because it’s time. Time for you to finally be at peace. All you need to do is let go,” Buffy said. Angel smiled and began to breathe deeply. One. Two. Three. On his third breath, Angel felt his heart finally stop. “Now, just take my hand,” Buffy said softly. Angel reached out his hand, and found himself standing next to Buffy, bathed in the same white light. He saw his body sitting in the chair, the teenager still reading. “She doesn’t even realize I’m dead,” Angel said, and realized that he sounded different. He looked down to see that he was young again, not the old tired man he had become.

“Now, just keep holding on to my hand,” Buffy said. Angel held tighter to Buffy’s hand, and suddenly they were transported to a beautiful meadow. To the right was a beautiful forest, and to the left was a beautiful river. Right in the middle of the meadow was a very large mansion. “Come on,” Buffy said, and they began to run towards the mansion. As they got closer to the mansion, the front door swung open, and a large group of people came pouring out. Angel recognized Joyce, Giles, Dawn, Tara, Willow, Xander, Anya, Jenny, Faith, Wesley, Cordelia, Gunn, and Fred. Suddenly, Angel felt himself bombarded with hugs. “Guys, let Angel have some room, and let me get him up to our room,” Buffy said, and led Angel through the many rooms until Buffy found the room she was looking for. The room in question was done in blue and white, with a bed that was much larger than King-size. Angel went to the closet, and found it full of all his old clothes.

“Wait, what is this place? Is there anyone else here?” Angel asked. “The only people here are the people who just attacked you. I was the first of all of us to die. When I got up here, The Powers that Be told me that because of my good service, I deserved a gift. I told them that I wanted a place for me; and that whenever someone from our group died, they would come here. They would tell me when someone had passed so that I could add a room to the house, with the power of my mind, of course. Eventually, people from Angel Investigations started to be added to the mix. You’re the last one. Now that you’re here, it’s complete,” Buffy said with a grin. Angel smiled. He was with everyone he loved, especially Buffy. “You mean that we will be here forever?” Angel asked. “Yep,” Buffy said with a smile. “Well, before I go and get reacquainted with everyone, there is something that I have been wanting to do for a very long time,” Angel said, and immediately picked Buffy up, and threw her onto the bed. Everyone down in the living room of the mansion smiled, because they knew exactly what Buffy and Angel were doing.

They all lived together, happily, forever, in Paradise.
