In the dark of the day
I awake to the moonlight in my face.
A slave. I act on my thoughts.
Knowing not where they'll take me.
I feel the hurt from the hole in my chest
But dare not admit that this last shred
Of my humanity still lingers.
I'll deal until the coals of my soul grow cold
And this fire of passion burns no more.
My actions will contradict my memories,
For now.
I wear her old lover's face.
I remember her old lover's thoughts.
There is just a tiny thread we share
But not enough of him remains.
The Angel she knew is long gone.
The black dog won.
