Stand at the window, watching the rain fall. Trace one raindrop's path down the glass. This whole thing could've been avoided. Slayers and vampires aren't meant to do this sort of thing. But we couldn't stop it.

We were doing our usual thing of insults and fighting - each other, the other vampires, didn't matter. One night we were in the middle of fighting when we realised that we didn't really want to fight. Fighting was just something to disguise the fact that we wanted each other.

It was just supposed to be casual fucking. We weren't supposed to fall in love.

We were curled up in bed together, my head resting on his chest, his hand stroking my hair. Dropped a kiss on my forehead, then murmured three little words. They were never on the agenda, forbidden. I looked up at him, startled. He closed his eyes and shook his head in self-recrimination. Gathered our clothes and left, unable to say anything more. And his absence is slowly killing me.

Honest lies
He appears out of the darkness and rain. Stands there getting soaked, waiting for me to let him in. He doesn't need to. He knows there's no spell cast to keep him out, but he's unsure. We both are. I take a deep breath, open the window. Let him in.
The lines are drawn
So choose your sides
Rain from outside soaks us as we stand there, staring at each other. He lifts a hand, touches my lips, then moves it to wipe some of the moisture off my cheek. Salty's mixed with the water from outside. Lowers his head, touches his lips to mine. I move my hands to his chest, put my soul into it. We forget about the rain coming in.
