Xander walked into the Bronze and headed over to the Gang's usual table. On the way, he was bumped into by some girl. They apologized to each other and went their separate ways. He hadn't noticed that he dropped his wallet. He went over to the table and joined in Willow and Buffy's conversation.
Meanwhile, Cordelia walked in, noticing a fine college guy. She whipped out her compact to check her flawless face. Some clumsy guy bumped into her and she dropped her mirror. After telling the guy off on how that compact had perfectly matched her new dress, she bent down to get it. She noticed a wallet, so she picked it up too.
Wondering who's it was, she opened it. A white slip of paper caught her eye. On the top it read the dress store she was working in. She pulled the receipt out and read it. It was for HER prom dress. She leafed through the wallet and saw a Sunnydale High ID card. She had thought Wesley bought her the dress, but as she looked at the card, she found out she was wrong. The wallet belonged to Xander Harris. She went over to her old friend's table as a Goo Goo Dolls song came on.
"Xander?" she asked him. He looked up at her. "Hey, I saw you drop the mirror from over here. Wasn't me, so go pick on the person who ACTUALLY did it, " he told her defensively. She smiled, "Duh. I was wondering if you wanted to dance." Buffy, Willow, and Xander all stared at her. "What? Fine, don't dance with me!" she said. but he stood up and took her to the dance floor, leaving Buffy and Willow to pick their jaws up from the table.

They started dancing silently at first. Then she whispered, "Xander?" "Yeah?" "Why'd you buy me the dress?" He looked at her, shocked that she knew. "How'd you know?" he asked. "I have my ways," she smiled at him, "but why?" "'Cause I knew you'd look the a princess in it," he whispered to her as he drew her closer to find. She smiled, tears in her eyes.

"Xander?" she said softly. "Hmm?" She breathed the words, "I'm so sorry." He looked at her, "For what?" She smiled, "For being a bitch. I know you don't, but I still...I still love you, Xander Harris." he smiled at her words , but remained silent.
