It's amazing how so much can be changed by one event. Damn that
idiot Warren. He's the sort of person who would set off fireworks
next to gasoline. If he somehow manages to survive the next few
hours, I'll be perfectly happy to show him what real suffering is.
The worst thing is that I blew it. I've been concentrating so much on
figuring out how to win over Willow that I wasn't paying enough
attention to what else was happening. But I never expected Warren to
make that sort of attack.
I may even have outsmarted myself. Maybe I should have approached
Willow openly. She'd have refused, of course, but at least she might
have come to me when she wanted Dark Magic. I could have steered her
to something safer. Safer, at least, than what's she's using now. I
wanted her unleashed, not crazy.
Tara. She might be the only one who can get through to Willow. And
she had power of her own, even if it was masked by her caution. I
came here for Willow, but I quickly decided I wanted both of them.
There are spells that I could use to bring her back. Dangerous
spells, even for someone like me. And using them would be like
announcing "Morningstar is here!" to the entire world, or at least to
anyone who is paying close enough attention. I'm not yet ready to do
that. But there are others who might be able to do something. Maybe
there's some way one of them could be manuevered into acting.
I usually have several plans going through my head. But I can't seem
to think of anything right now. At least not anything that isn't
horribly risky. I came here because I wanted Willow at my side, with
her power unleashed. Power that will be badly needed if any of us are
to survive the next few years. Even so, I may have to settle for her
being alive and sane. But I don't have any good ideas for
accomplishing even that.
