Once upon a time, there was an angel of the night,
He lived in the darkness, his whole life was a fight.
And then she came along, and changed his life,
They started a relationship, full of pain and strife.
They were careful, but during their first kiss his soul was jeopardized,
But they kept going, knowing the end would have them surprised.
But everything changed during that one fateful night,
They were together, but in the morning he was no where in site.
He made her life miserable, taunting her knowing it hurt her,
But she kept loving him, everything in her life was a blur.
Then finally she was ready, she took the fight to him,
She entered the mansion, the air was thick the lights were dim.
They fought and fought, knowing only one would survive,
He was down on his knees and she knew she would come out alive.
But then something happened, she couldn't believe her eyes,
She still had to do it, the sword, the pain, the angel dies.
She walked out crying and left for the summer, not wanting to come back,
But she was the slayer had to return, knowing always something her life would lack.
She lived with her secret, fearing the truth and what she would go through,
So she found a new love, a new attitude, she started anew.
But the angel came back, not quite the same,
She saw him she cried, full of shock and shame.
They tried to stay away, knowing they could never be,
But they gave it another shot, they wanted to see.
This time nothing will ever tear them apart,
Together forever, she lives in his heart.
Now it's the present, and they are so in love,
It seems what they have was sent from above.
But neither knows what the future will bring,
There will be no Sunday picnics, watching the birds sing.
Still, they hope for a time better than this,
For now they share their hopes with a kiss.
