Children skipped along Sunnydale’s paths, the sun was beginning to set and soon the town will fall into the hands of the undead. Those who did not stay in. Those that killed instead. Everyone was in danger and there was only one girl who could combat it.
“You’re an elf?”
Buffy looked down at her green costume, her hair was tied back in bunches and she wore a jolly hat on her head. “It doesn’t look so bad” Buffy protested looking at Willow and Xander who were dressed relatively normal, “I mean you couldn’t pull a date on Halloween when your only expecting vampires to see you, they couldn’t possibly make fun of me anyway, they’re mostly all dressed twenty years out of fashion.”
“You’re an elf?” Xander said again.
“Okay I kinda forget I didn’t have anything to wear. I’ve been busy you know, saving the world from demons it’s not like I have the time…”
Cordiela strode up to the group; she looked down at Buffy’s costume then laughed as she showed of hers. She was dressed as a Greek Goddess and was attracting nearly every pair of eyes belonging to the male population. Cordiela wasn’t going to stop them from kissing her shoes.
“Obviously there was an explosion in the gew factory” the fake goddess smiled again, “Please stay away from the Bronze tonight, I’m trying to keep it strictly cool people there” a guy grabbed onto Cordy’s arm, “Like my new boyfriend, Kevin, isn’t he cool?”
“Yeah, new for us all. Do you go to Sunnydale High?” Willow questioned as she pulled a strand of loose hair behind her ear.
“I just transferred” Kevin was trying to ignore the fact that his girlfriend was practically drooling on him, “What can I say, I just couldn’t stay away.”
“It rhymes!” Cordy clapped then kissed Kevin on the cheek, “I just love poetry, it’s so poetic.” Cordiela led Kevin away from the Scooby Gang and continued to talk about the things she loved most about him.
A group of seven demons stood in a circle around an ancient alter. Crackling torches dimly lighted the cave. From what remained of the creature’s faces it wasn’t a pretty site. They wouldn’t be entering any beauty competitions and that was for sure.
The demons began to chant, “From the Power of Hallo we walk in this holy hour, breath in this dimension.”
The leader of the tribe stepped forward, “We will represent Halloween not as a human holiday but as the day we were set free. Set free from Hell to ruin and destruct the earth. Make it like it was.” The monster shoved his hands into the alter and looked up at the cave ceiling, the cave started to shake softly at first but began to become more violent quickly. The demons were creating an earthquake on the surface to let the humans know that they were coming, it didn’t matter how much their race had changed the people would still be able to read the basic demon signs.
One of the creatures snarled and revealed sharp teeth, “Let us go to a club filled with young souls, and let us gather our strength”
The Bronze was the main attraction in Sunnydale, to be quite honest it didn’t much to compete with or anything for that matter.
Cordilea Chase stepped onto the dance floor and into the green light, the band was great, her boyfriend was hot and not Buffy or any of her loser friends could be seen anywhere. Perfect.
“I like this song.” Cordy whispered in Kevin’s ear as he held her.
“Me too.” He agreed, Kevin brushed a hand through his brown hair; he could feel the connection between them even if it was slightly false.
Suddenly the ground started to shake, lamps and other items dropped to the ground. Cordy looked around, the music had stopped and innocent people’s screams could be heard easily. The Dingoes jumped of the stage abandoning their instruments and joining the sea of people running to the exits.
Cordiela barley had time to react as Kevin hit her hard around the face, “It’s been fun, I’ll call you” she fell onto the floor unconscious and Kevin stepped onto the stage. “Human children, do not panic. The holy hour is among us you all are locked in. I made sure of that,” his face changed, Kevin morphed into a Hallo demon and smiled wickedly, “Play Time”
Buffy sighed, the sun had gone down and now she was in major slayer mode. If only there was something to slay…
About seven teenagers walked in a line in the middle of the road. The slayer brushed shoulders with one and instantly felt a cold feeling down the back of her spine.
“Hey!” Xander shouted after them, “Watch where you’re going” the teenagers did not turn back and Xander was slightly relieved that they didn’t.
“Those guys were creepy” Willow stated
“There’s something up with them, I can feel it,” Xander and Willow looked at Buffy knowing exactly what she was thinking.
“Slay time?”
Buffy nodded, “You stay here, I’m going to follow them. See what nasty plan they have for us tonight.”
The slayer waited for a moment then began to follow the outlines of the teens, “Vampires. They never learn”
Buffy followed the Vampires to the Bronze, her suspicions were right they were in the mood for some killing. Unluckily for them so was she.
The slayer climbed up a gutter pipe and slid in through a small open window, she was on the balcony looking over the stage, Buffy crept up to the edge and caught a clear view of a demon standing on the stage laughing as he tore some kids head of his body and started to suck his brain out from his mouth. Gross.
The group of demons morphed back into their true form and stepped into the Bronze, they too had come to feed on the humans before the Apocalypse.
“Welcome brothers” Kevin greeted the Demons with a blood moustache, “It is good of you to come before the end. We are old friends.
“We are no friends of yours” the leader snarled, “You left our group to live among these…animals,” the other demons nodded, “expect no kind hostility”
Cordelia opened her eyes and saw blurred faces standing around her; she came into focus and then saw the horror that was Kevin on the stage. She remembered his face.
Oh god his face, horrible sharp teeth and yellow eyes, evil eyes staring strait into hers. Cordy thought in fear.
Buffy needed a weapon; she was out numbered big time. The slayer could barley kill three demons on a good night, but eight!
Buffy snapped a chair leg off and crept back up to the edge, she saw Cordiela lying on the floor just about conscious. Buffy met Cordy’s gaze, she saw her standing on the balcony looking at the monsters that had taken them all hostage.
“Buffy!” Cordelia screamed, “Help!”
The demons looked up at Buffy who had backed away into the shadows but not soon enough. The demons had seen her and the slayer knew it.
Buffy flipped off the balcony and onto a snooker table ignoring the awes from scared Bronze members.
“Do you think you can hide from the Hallos, are you that foolish?” the demons circled their prey, “We are Halloween, this day will be your last weak human.”
The demon leader grabbed Buffy’s neck and picked he up, “Any last words” he said hoping that she didn’t.
“Just one,” Buffy chocked, “Angel”
The creature was confused; Angel stabbed it with his sword and smiled as it slid off it and onto the ground.
Buffy smiled back and punched a demon in its stomach, she stabbed it with her stake that was once used to support a chair.
“Thanks” Buffy said as Angel saved her by chopping of a demon’s head that was creeping up behind her armed with a metal pole.
Buffy snapped the last neck of the Hallo tribe, the Slayer stood back and looked at the creature’s corpses.
“That’s it, I think we’re done” Buffy said
“Yeah we prevented the Apocalypse, I don’t think we’ll see another for a while” Angel led Buffy out of the Bronze behind the Bronzers.
“How long is a while?” Buffy asked.
“Oh a couple of weeks”
“Very funny”
Below the surface the Master stood, looking around at his home. His prison.
“Soon child,” he whispered, “soon”
