Spike’s heart broke as Buffy yelled at Giles. “Tell me to kill my sister,” Buffy said.
Spike got off the ladder and went toward the door.
“Spike, where are you going?” Buffy asked, a little fearfully.
“I’m going to find Dawn,” Spike said, looking at her.
“Spike, we cant fight Glory,” Buffy said. “I don’t know where to begin looking for her.”
“I do!” Spike flared. “Everything that she is feeling, I can feel it too. I know where she is and I’m not gunna leave her there,” Spike said, turning his back again.
“And what are you gunna do when you find her?” Buffy asked.
“Keep her safe,” Spike said.
Buffy’s eyes softened. “I’m coming with you,” she said.
“No,” Spike said.
“Whaddaya mean no?” Buffy asked.
“I cant worry about the two of you,” Spike said.
“Spike,” Buffy said.
Spike smiled. “Give me an hour. If I’m not back here, then I didn’t make it,” he said, opening the door.
Buffy ran up to him and pulled him around to her. She kissed him softly. “For good luck,” she whispered.
Spike squeezed her hand gently. “I love you,” he said, before leaving.
Buffy stood for a minute before Giles came up to her. “You gunna be okay?”
“Yeah, lets come up with a plan incase he doesn’t come back,” she whispered. “There is a small chance that he wont make it.”
Spike followed Dawn’s scent to an old construction site. He ducked into a nearby manhole cover and went through the sewers.
He found his way into the house and went towards Dawn’s quiet sobs. He ended up underneath a vent and saw her sitting to the side of it. “Dawn?” He whispered.
Dawn peeked through the vent. “Spike?”
“Where’s the hell bitch?” Spike asked.
“I’m alone but there is a guard outside,” she whispered.
Spike pushed the vent up. “Come on,” he whispered.
Dawn jumped down and Spike closed the vent.
“Come on. We gotta get outta here,” he said, running through the sewers.
Spike lifted the man hole cover outside the magic box and lifted her out. “Come on, Nibblet,” he said.
Dawn collapsed on the ground. “Spike, I’m so tired,” she whimpered.
Spike closed the man hole and lifted her up. “Don’t worry about it,” he said.
Spike walked through the door of the shop with Dawn in his arms. “Buffy!”
Buffy shot up and ran over to them. “Dawn?”
“She’s just tired,” Spike said, with a small smile.
Buffy smiled at him. “We still have an hour before the ritual so its not safe here,” she said.
Spike nodded. “Come on. I’ve got an idea,” he said, taking Dawn to the basement.
The gang followed Spike back into the sewers and they wound up at Glory’s apartment.
“Spike?” Buffy asked.
“When they realize she’s gone, she wont thing to even look for her at her own house,” Spike said.
The gang entered the house but Spike had unpleasant memories here. He laid Dawn on the couch. “Red, get a spell up and everyone keep watch,” he ordered.
No one argued and within 10 minutes, a protection spell was up and Spike was sitting on the couch with Dawn in his lap.
Buffy came up behind him and put her hands on his shoulders. “You okay?”
Spike tilted his head back. “How much time?” He asked, stroking Dawn’s hair.
“A ½ hour,” Buffy said, smiling fondly at Dawn. She leaned forward. “Thanks for saving her for me,” she whispered in his ear.
Spike smiled. “Always,” he said.
Buffy leaned toward him and was about to kiss him when Anya’s voice interrupted them. “Glory’s here,” she said in a panic.
Spike snapped and picked up Dawn.
“Spike, you get Dawn out of here,” Buffy said.
Spike nodded just as Glory’s minions came in.
Glory pranced in just as Buffy’s hammer hit her in the face.
Spike out the door and downstairs with Dawn. He was about to leave the building when someone hit him over the head. The last thing he saw was Dawn being dragged before passing out.
Spike woke to someone shaking him. “Spike!” Xander screamed.
Spike groaned. “Dawn,” he murmured.
“Glory got her again. Buffy…”
Spike shook off his grogginess and was back in business. “Where is she?”
“She’s right here,” Willow said. “She’s not there any more. Again.”
Spike went over and kneeled in front of her. “Buffy, Pet?”
Her eyes stared blankly.
“How much time?” Spike asked.
“About 20 minutes,” Xander said. “You weren’t out that long.”
Spike looked back at Buffy and squeezed her hands before kissing her.
After a few seconds, Buffy snapped out of it and kissed him back.
Spike pulled away. “Later, Pet. We have to go get Dawn,” he said, pulling her to her feet.
“Dawn,” Buffy said, as they ran out of the apartment.
At the construction site, Buffy fought Glory and Spike ran up the tower. Doc was up there, holding a knife. Spike didn’t even slow as he knocked Doc off the tower.
“Spike!” Dawn whimpered.
Spike untied her and she secured herself in his arms.
“Come on, Nibblet,” he said, scooping her up.
Down below, just as Buffy stepped onto the stairs, she smiled as Spike carried her sister to safety.
“Dawnie,” she said, softly.
“Can we go home?” Dawn asked.
“God yes,” Buffy said, as she looked up at her vampire then down at her sister.
