“It’s her, I’m sure it is!” she stepped off the pavement to walk across the street, opening her mouth to shout.
Buffy grabbed her by the arm and hauled her back.
“It’s not her”
She looked at the Kendalls who stared at her in shock. “Here we go” she thought.
“I know that looked like Harmony. I know you loved her, she was your daughter. But Harmony’s dead. She died when the Mayor went crazy and blew up the school, her body burnt up and was never found”
“But I’m sure it was her” Mrs Kendall looked bewildered. Mr Kendall stood silent, vaguely recognising Buffy from the parent/teacher meetings. .
Buffy shook her head. “Look you’re both Sunnydale folks, you know the score. If you ever think you see her in the street, you just keep walking. If she calls to you never look back. And if she comes to the house, you don’t let her in, whatever you do, you don’t let her in. You call me, Buffy Summers, I’m in the book., OK? I’m sorry”
She turned and walked away into the night, leaving them standing on the high street, the shoppers flitting around them.

Buffy looked at the bodies with a mixture of sadness and anger.
“Just couldn’t resist letting her in, could you? After all

I told you!” she scolded the corpses angrily.
She looked up at the picture on the mantelpiece. Little Harmony, about six years old, smiling in her bright pink dress as she sat on the knees of her proud parents. She had one just like it at home, little Buffy posed with Hank and Joyce.
“No” she remarked, her tone softening “I couldn’t have turned her away either”
She picked up the phone to call the police.
