This is our first ever Fanfic so I guess should say something: This will probably end up being a 2 or 3 part story and it being are first, not all that great and there's probably be some grammar screw ups but here goes!

~Prologue
She sat there, waiting for it to come, yet wondering what it was. Then a haze appeared and several people stepped out of it. Shadows of the dead. A few she could pick out, a pretty brunette that she remembered to be Cordelia from a long time ago. Another was Tara. A few more stood out, Joyce Summers and so on. Cordelia smiled, “Welcome, sorry for the wait” Tara stepped up as well “You have been chosen” Chosen? She wondered, “ Joyce answered as though she had read her mind “you have been chosen to save many lives” She stared “Many Lives? Why? What? Who?” “You made a sacrifice you never had to make that made little affect whatsoever, for this you have a chance to save lives and send a message with a short time given to you on earth” replied a short man with a slight Irish accent. A fifth figure joined the front, a pretty girl with brown curly hair “You know what to do”. “WAIT!” she shouted “What message?” The girl smiled “When the time comes, and you are faced with the one person you trust completely, you will know what to do.” Then before she could say another word, all of the people looked right into her eyes. A flash erupted and Anya opened her eyes to complete darkness, and for some reason needed to go to L.A.
~Sunnydale~
Anya sat up and seemed to go strait through the 3 feet of rubble she woke up in.
She looked around and saw that she was sitting in what seemed to be a giant crater of some kind.
Something green caught her eye so she pulled her legs out of the rubble to see that they slide through leaving the ground untouched. I must be some sort of ghost she thought and stood up to walk over to the green thing. “Welcome to Sunnydale”
“So this is what happened to Sunnydale” she said aloud this time.
But L.A. was calling so she started to climb, but instead of continuing, she found herself at the top of what was Sunnydale.
Anya wasn’t sure what was going on, why did she have the impulse to go to L.A? Why was she needed in L.A.? And why was she not feeling like herself?
Suddenly it happened again, she wasn’t there anymore, she was standing on a rooftop looking at a huge demon army emerging from the ground.
~L.A.~
For all of those wondering, this is happening around the same time as when the last member of the black thorn got killed. And you probably know the rest from there. But, what is Anya going to do about all of this? She had no idea, how are you supposed to contact anyone without being able to use a phone. Verbal is the only option in this situation; so, Anya goes to find help of any sort, but who? Of course she was franticly trying to figure this out. And as if on queue, she got whooshed away again.
Thanks powers that be! She thought, and then she thought who are the powers that be? But a person turning the corner interrupted her train of thought.
Events are going by way too fast! But of course she knew that she had to figure out a reason for the powers to send her to this guy, no not a guy, a green guy!
Lorne trudged along an alleyway wondering why he had listened to Angel and shot Lindsey; He may have been evil, but still human. He was just about to turn around to find Angel and punch him when he remembered what the others were meeting in the other alley for and decided to keep on going. He turned a corner and ended up face to face with a girl who seemed very surprised and was staring at him.
“Can I help you sweetcakes?” he asked a bit hesitantly and with obviously fake cheer.
“You’re a demon?” asked the girl, who strangely enough seemed not at all scared.
“Um no, this is…um…make up?” The Pylean replied.
“You can’t fool me, I’m from Sunnydale, I mean, was from, I mean, I am demon, no, I was? Hold on, I’m dead.”
“SUNNYDALE!” Lorne exclaimed “DEAD? WHAT! Oh sorry, no I mean…whoa!” He stumbled and fell right through her. “You really are dead. What’s that noise” For a large roar erupted and he could just hear a voice saying, something, was it Angel?
“What’s your name?” She asked “Lorne” “Anya”
Anya saw that it was a demon and asked to make sure. He was a really bad liar. But then she found herself stuttering and he was just as weird in reply. He fell through her.
That feels weird, kind of like being submerged in jello, she thought. A noise erupted suddenly as the demon was saying something and for some reason she asked for his name. “Lorne” he said “Anya” was her reply.
“Well, we should probably go help stop the demons, hold on, why is there a demon army in an alley?” Lorne was just about to reply when she poofed away again and was standing in the middle of the demons
“Damn!”
A glimmer caught her eye and she looked down to see that her fingers were glowing. Then there was a whoosh of light and all the demons were dust. “That was easy!” she said and turned around to face 4 blood-soaked humans. Wait, 3 blood-soaked human and one very bluish …something who kind of reminded her of the girl in the room before she got whooshed to Sunnydale.
Suddenly she noticed a familiar platinum blonde. “Anya?” he croaked.
Spike fainted
“Um…hi?” mumbled Angel as Anya walked up to Spike and bent over him. “Have we met?” asked the still conscious vampire “I don’t think so” she said, looking up “Are you sure” he looked at her again “I don’t know” “Angel” “Anya” the conversation was uncomfortable seeing as she had just blown up an army of demons. Angel was feeling even more uncomfortable with the silence and said “So…you two know each other?”
“Well, we did have sex in grief, had to live with a house full of teenagers and help stop the end of the world, so ya, we know each other, and who’s that?” she said pointing at the bleeding Gunn
“OH MY GOD! GUNN!” exclaimed Angel and rushed to catch him for he was now keeling over. “We need to get him to a hospital!” Anya was about to reply, but Angel was already hurrying off carrying the unconscious Gunn, leaving Anya, Illyria and fainted Spike behind.
“You have no heat” said Illyria spontaneously. “Um, Ya, I’m kind of, you know, dead. What’s your name?”
“You are not worthy to know, worship needs no name”
“I kind of think I am worthy seeing as I just killed a demon army in a matter seconds” but Illyria just stared at her.
“ Well now that you two have gotten acquainted, lets get the hell over to the hospital so that we can see if Gunn is still kikin’.” Spike said getting off the ground and dusting himself off. “Nice to see you by the way pet. Didn’t you die or something?”
“Wanna see what happens if you punch me?”
Angel sat in the waiting room rocking back and forth in his chair. Would Gunn survive? Every once and awhile a nurse would stick her head out and call in a doctor or ask for some sort of medication that wasn’t in the room’s supply.
He looked up at the sound of a door opening, but it was just Spike, Illyria and Anya. They sat beside him, all except Anya who tried then remembered she wasn’t corporeal just as she fell through the chair.
“So” Spike said looking across at Illyria, but directing it at Angel “Is he still kicking?” “They wouldn’t say” answered Angel. Anya interrupted “Should anyone else know about this?” Angel was about to answer when Anya poofed again.
“Hey, she did that handy poofing thing like you used to do!”
“OH GOD!” yelled Spike, remembering where he went when he disappeared he was a ghost “ANYA’S IN HELL!”
~Stanford University~
Anya swore as she appeared on the Stanford Campus. Why did she always poof away at the worst moments?! She would of continued fuming in this manner if a brown haired student hadn’t been staring at her. “Um…” said the boy. Anya wasn’t sure how to explain why she had appeared out of thin air. So she said the only sensible reply: “Um…” They stared at each other for several moments until they realized why they were staring at each other.
“Hello, um… what’s your name?” stuttered the boy.
Anya didn’t say anything. “I’m Conner” he said, determined to break the uncomfortable silence.
Anya still didn’t say anything so he said “I have to get to class so if you wouldn’t mind…”
Anya didn’t move, just stood there staring at him. I just know I need him to help me with something. She thought, almost oblivious to what he was saying. The boy now known as Conner was getting frustrated and reached out to push her out of the way, then his hand wet right through and he stumbled.
“If you’re a ghost” he said, not seeming shocked at all. “How did you get here? To earth I mean” She spoke finally and explained the hour’s events, only half realizing that they were complete strangers.
There was more staring.
“One of the four wouldn’t happen to be called Angel” He said hesitantly “Ya” answered Anya. ”You’re kidding!" Exclaimed Conner “Who was in the Hospital?” “I think his name was Gunn” “Oh” he said seeming relieved.
Anya was curious about this boy, he seemed to know a lot more about the goings on than she did “How do you know Angel?” Conner panicked “He um… saved me once” The answer wasn’t very convincing but she’d have to go along with it anyways
“Ya, I guess that’s what he does now”
“So you served in an apocalypse” asked Conner, desperately trying to change the subject “Ya, just one, I died fighting off Uber Vampire things and bringers with a dweeb” Conner suddenly felt a jolt “Sucky way to die” Anya could tell something was up “Well, what can you do?”
Oh my god! I think I like this Chick! Wait, what am I thinking! I have a girlfriend not to mention the fact that she’s dead! Thought Conner but his train of thought was interrupted by her voice “I should probably go check on the group down at the hospital. Coming?” he gave her a sheepish smile “Sure, astronomy class isn’t all that necessary” she smiled back, less sheepish
“By the way, I’m Anya” They had only walked just beyond the campus when Anya disappeared again. Leaving Conner a bit stunned, but he kept on walking, though worries crept through his mind.
~The Hospital~
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god” repeated Spike. “What do you mean hell?” asked Angel “That’s where I went when I disappeared, didn’t I tell you?” “Might have, I don’t know” “Anyways, I’m guessing that’s where Anya went”
Illyria wasn’t too sure what was going on but just stood there trying to look like she did, odd behavior for her.
“Spike, you were different, more than just non corporeal and not an actual ghost” “Didn’t you see what she did to the demons! If that’s what a normal ghost does then I bloody well wish I still was one!” If Spike could breath, he would hyperventilate. Sure he had dealt with hell okay, but Anya was… hold on… was he actually caring about the whole thing?
They just sat there looking at their shoes for a while, until two things happened. The door to the hospital room opened and Anya appeared.
“THANK GOD! Are you okay!” “um… ya, I just went to this college and ran into this guy with hair like a girl’s” .
“Excuse me” interrupted the nurse in one of those too sweet ways that told you something was wrong. “Mr. Gunn’s heartbeat is very weak” she said walking over to them, half looking at the floor. Her name tag read “Candy”
Angel was looking even paler then usual so the nurse took a big breath and continued. “He has minutes to live, so if you would like…” Angel was already opening the door. The rest followed suit.
“Hey… It’s my gang.” Gasped Gunn “Hi” mumbled Spike and Angel. The girls said nothing. “Is it bad?” he asked. “Do you really want the truth?” “It’s bad, isn’t it” “You have minutes to live” “yup, It’s bad” “Want me to call anybody for you?” “Nah, call them afterwards, you know who should know” seeing you for the last time is hard enough” “Is this where we say goodbye?” “Shoot” “Goodbye” the two Vampires said in unison.
“It’s time” whispered Illyria. Then the slow beeping turned into a steady whine.
Gunn was dead.
The three remaining warriors and Anya turned and left. The main doors opened, and Conner came in. He wasn’t alone. A pretty girl, slightly taller then him with neon green streaks in her hair was holding his hand and walking beside him.
“What’s up?” He said, but afraid of the answer, everyone was looking at their feet and slouching, all except Illyria, as usual.
“He’s dead” mumbled Angel. “Oh” “And who’s this?” Angel added abruptly, waving his hand in the general direction of the girl. “Oh, this is…um Emma, my girlfriend.” He choked, not sure where to look. “You lust for this creature?” Illyria said eyeing Emma closely. “She wasn’t there when I left” commented Anya, feeling sad only because someone had just died in front of her. “Ya, I ran into her on the way off campus and she decided to join me”. Then he noticed that Emma was paying no attention to anybody, but was just staring dumbfounded at Anya “Something wrong?” “Um… no, I think I should um go…” She ran out of the building leaving suspicion behind her.
Angel followed her with his eyes ‘till even he could not see any movement in the dark, then he turned to call Gunn’s old gang at the receptions desk.
“Well, I don’t know about you blokes but I’m going to my apartment, this scene is getting more uncomfortable by the second” Spike turned, and after a few minutes in which Angel finished his phone calls, they followed suit.
~Spike’s apartment ~
Spike was reluctant to let them in to interrupt his beer guzzling sulky time but he eventually let them in.
“Well…it’s better then your last place” shrugged Anya as she stumbled into the small apartment.
“Hey Conner” Angel said, turning on his son “Why was your girlfriend so interested in our ghost here?” “I donno, she’s weird sometimes”
Angel was curious. There was nothing strange about the look of Anya, if she had had to stare at someone, she would have stared at someone who actually looked strange, like Illyria. Something was up, he could tell. He decided to ponder on it further later, more important things had to be dealt with.
“So… Anya, what do you remember from where you were before you got all ghosty back here.”
“Well…” she tried to chose her words carefully. I was sitting on a chair, in a room… no… I was sitting in some sort of nothingness place, as though I was in some sort of afterlife waiting room. I didn’t know why, but I seemed to be waiting for something that wasn't the afterlife, after what seemed like a year, a whole bunch of figures came out of this haze thing, they were all dead, there was Buffy’s mom, Tara, Cordelia, some short guy with an Irish accent, a pretty brunette and some others that didn’t talk to me, they all told me I had to save the world…”
“Which you already did I think” interrupted Spike who was still trying to figure things out
“ Yes, I suppose. They also told me to send a message... or something, they said the message was for someone I trust completely. Then I woke up in the Sunnydale crater.”
“You saw, the brunette, Fred? How could she be there, her soul got destroyed”
“They seemed more like shadows”
“Wow, Doyle, Fred, Cordelia, all there” he breathed, starting to miss his deceased friends all the more. “Was there a guy with glasses and kind of looked like he hadn’t shaved in a while?”
“I…I think so” Angel just blinked “So…” interrupted Spike again “What was this message?” “No idea, and all this is kind of freaking me out, so I think I’ll…” She disappeared again.
“She is finding the receiver” said Illyria.
~Somewhere underneath L.A.~
Emma appeared panting in the doorway to Amalhin’s (The shape shift demon leader) lair. “What is it child?” he boomed, turning from the small group of teens with similer hair and look as Emma that he had been talking to.
“It has happened, what the great ones said, it has come to destroy what we have built up to for so long, it has come to ruin our apocalypse!”
“Who will it pass the gift onto ?”
“I sensed her next appearance was to be far away, in one of the distant colonies, what they call Europe”
“Hurry child, you have little time”
“You wish me to stop this sickening spirit from stopping the apocalypse master?”
“Yes child, hurry now!”
Emma turned and ran to the stairway door, unlocked it with a few unknown phrases and sprinted up the stairs, slowly changing shape as she ran. At last she reached the top of the building, fully changed into a hawk and jumped of the ledge, soaring with unnatural speed towards the east, and in barely a few minutes, with the help of her powers and the hawks, she reached Greece and touched down, slowly changing back to her human form as she did.
~Spike’s Apartment ~
“Where did she go?!” Spike exclaimed,
“Where would she have gone?”
“Blue here said she was finding the bloke Anya is supposed to give this message to”
“Where and who would this receiver be?” Conner spoke up finally
“Anya said it was to someone she trusts completely”
“Spike, you knew Anya right? Who would she trust completely?”
“I donno mate, Xander maybe?”
“Right, Xander. Where is he?”
“Last I heard he was in a some fancy condo in Greece”
“You got the number?”
“Ya Andrew gave ‘em all to me last we saw him, well, I stole his wallet and found all the numbers but hey.”
Conner rolled his eyes “Well where is it?”
“In my box”
“Box of what?”
“Stuff I’ve stolen”
“Well get it idiot”
“Fine”
He reached under the couch and pulled out a cardboard box.
“Nice security” laughed Conner. Spike ignored him
“ Money, money, jewels, statue, money Ah, here it is! Andrew’s wallet. Credit card, Starbucks card, a phone book! Willow, Giles, Watcher’s council. …Buffy,” he said making a coughing noise “ah, um, there it is, Xander!” He threw the book at Angel and he dialed the number.
~Greece~
Anya appeared beside the Mediterranean, waves lapping smoothly next to her, a row of houses and condos stretched out by the beach on her other side. She approached them, stepping gracefully across the sand until she reached the road. Few cars were there so she J-walked over to the complex in front of her.
She checked the list of names beside the buzzer: 100-Frazer Alexis, 101-Melanie Giovanna 102-Alexander Harris.
Bingo she thought, it was too much of a coincidence that her love just happened to be staying in the complex she had appeared in front of.
She reached out for the buzzer, but instead of pushing it she just stumbled through. She would have continued to walk down the hallway to Xander’s room if she hadn’t sensed a presence and turned to see what looked like Conner’s girlfriend Emma crossing the road a few houses down.
“Oh crap” she breathed and sprinted to room 102.
She disguised her voice and called “HEY XANDER” in kind of a rushed way through the door.
In a few seconds she heard an “Oh my god” as Xander looked through the peephole. The door swung inwards and there stood one-eyed Xander Harris still clutching the door and his jaw hanging open limply.
He reached to hug her but fell through. Something crashed a floor below, the glass doors of the apartment as Emma broke through them.
“Listen, Xander, I don’t have time to explain, but I need to give you something” she said hurriedly
“Anya, hold on… Anya… you’re dead”
“Xander it’s me, and yes I’m dead, I just saved the world and now I have to give you a message”
“Okay… I’ll save the disbelief for later cause you seem to be in a rush”
“Yes, now anyways,” she stuck out her right hand in a fist and opened it to reveal a diamond shaped stone pendant with a hole in the center. He took it and put it on. It dissolved into his chest. She turned her head seeing Emma running down the hall, a ball of energy covering one fist.
She quickly grabbed Xander out of instinct, surprised to find that she could, and kissed him. She had to let go quickly because Emma had furiously launched the ball of energy creating the portal to the afterlife.
The carpet was rippling with howling wind being created by the swirling tunnel.
She gave him one last look and said in her last moment on earth said “I will always love you, be well” She smiled and disappeared through the portal.
“ANYA!” he cried as the portal disappeared and all that was left was Emma’s evil laughter.
He turned on Emma and was about to say some sort of threat when he realized something that shocked him so much that he was distracted even from her. Something weird was happening to his eye! He yanked off the patch. The sight that met him when he did it almost knocked him off his feet.
Emma now appeared as a strange grey humanoid creature that looked as if it was waiting to be finished, with only two toes and three fingers, and the only thing on it’s head were two blank lidless eyes.
He looked at the space where the portal had been again “Anya…” her laughter was louder now, filling the hall
“You…you are so dead!!!!”
The phone rang.
