“So, where’s tall, dark, and forehead?” Spike asked, as Buffy came down the stairs.
“Lemme guess, you can smell him?” Buffy asked.
“Yeah, that and I also used my enhanced vampire eyeballs to watch you kissing him,” Spike said.
Buffy looked down with guilt. “Spike.”
Spike went over and sat on his bed. “Let’s not talk about it Slayer,” he said.
“Spike, I know you’re mad at me,” she said.
“Why would I be mad at you? It’s not like you’ve never done it before. I was stupid enough to think that things have changed,” he said.
“They have changed,” Buffy said, crossing her arms.
“Doesn’t look like it,” Spike said, looking up at her. “We spent the night together. You left and went to your ex. Its’ exactly the same and you know it.”
“No its not. And if you had an ounce of common sense you’d listen to me. And you’re still a dope and a bonehead,” she said.
Spike raised and eyebrow. “Why am I a dope and a bonehead?” He asked.
“Because you know that I’m scared and I hate doing this over and over and over. Last night, I was gunna give up and you convinced me not to. I’m scared because I know that you love me and that is what is going to get you killed,” Buffy said, softly.
Spike crossed his arms and looked at her closely. “What are you scared of Buffy?”
“That I’m gunna fall in love with you an then I’m gunna lose you,” she whispered.
Spike stood up, with a softness in his eyes. “Buffy, you’re not gunna lose me,” he whispered.
“You can’t promise me that,” Buffy said, tears in her eyes.
“No, I cant. The only thing I cant promise is that I’m never going to stop loving you,” he said.
Buffy sniffled and tried to swallow the lump in her throat. “Spike, I don’t wanna end up living with out you again. Dawn’s taking to you again. Things are getting better. When this battle is over, I want things to be okay with us,” she whispered.
“I thought things were okay,” Spike mumbled, going back over to the cot.
Buffy went over and knelt in front of him. “Spike I’m not gunna as you to forgive me, because I don’t deserve it, but how long are you going to be mad at me?” She asked.
“I don’t know,” Spike said.
Buffy smiled and stood up. “That’s okay. I
can wait. You know where to find me,” she said, walking towards the stairs.
“Buffy?” Spike asked, as she put her foot on the first stair.
Buffy turned and looked at him. “Yeah?”
“Where are you sleeping?” Spike asked.
“I’m not,” Buffy said.
Spike raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
“’Cause I usually don’t sleep,” she said.
“You slept last night,” Spike said, softly.
“It was different,” Buffy said, looking him in the eye. “Last night, it was just us. Got 40 other people in the house now. If we’re gunna having night as special as last night. We have to get rid of the teenagers,” she said.
Spike stood up and walked over to her. “You know, I’m still mad at you, but you can stay here,” he said.
Buffy looked up into his eyes. “You don’t mind?” She asked.
Spike shook his head. “No. I don’t actually,” he said.
Buffy smiled. There’s a reason I like you so much,” she said, going toward the drier.
Spike stood frozen for a minute before turning around. “You like me?” He asked.
“Yeah, why?” Buffy asked, picking her head up from the drier.
“Just making sure I’m not hearing things,” Spike said.
Buffy put her clothes on the drier. “Can you turn around for a minute?” She asked.
Spike did as he was told and waited as Buffy changed.
“Okay, I’m done,” she said, going, over to stand behind him.
Spike turned around. “I’m still mad at you,” he said.
“I know but I can probably change your mind,” Buffy said, leaning up and kissing him lightly.
Spike wrapped his arms around her and kissed her hungrily.
Buffy pushed herself up against him and moaned. “Spike.”
Spike looked down at her with hungry eyes. “Yeah?” He asked, panting.
“Are you still mad at me?” Buffy asked.
“I don’t know,” Spike said.
Buffy leaned up and kissed him again. This time more softly and lovingly.
Spike scooped her up and carried her over to the cot. Gently he laid her down and laid on top of her. “No, I’m not mad at you anymore,” he whispered.
Buffy smiled. “Are you comfy?” She asked.
“Yeah, why?” Spike asked.
“Cause I don’t wanna move,” she said.
“Me either,” Spike said.
Soon both were sound asleep.
