Buffy hugged the pillow to her chest as tears rolled down her face. The hotel bed wasn’t like her own bed, but she didn’t care. After the battle, Giles drove them to L.A and Angel let them stay in the hotel. Once they got there, she found a room and didn’t say a word to anyone.
There was a knock on her door. “Go away,” she said, softly.
“Buffy,” Came Andrew’s voice. “OI have something you need to see.”
“Fine,” Buffy grumbled.
Andrew opened the door and came in with Dawn. He handed Buffy tape and a letter.
“What are these?” Buffy asked.
“They’re from Spike,” Andrew said. “You know, if he didn’t make it.”
Fresh tears rolled down Buffy’s cheeks as she took the items from Andrew. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“Buffy do you wanna be alone?” Dawn asked.
“Please,” Buffy said, holding the letter.
Dawn nodded and she left the room with Andrew.
Buffy opened the letter and inside was a small picture of Spike. Buffy smiled and ran her fingers over his face.
Buffy pulled the letter out and opened it. Tears ran down her face as she read it.
Dear Buffy,
If you’re reading this, I didn’t make it. Watch this tape and please don’t think I abandoned you. I’ll always love you and even if you don’t love me, I thought you might want a small memory.
Spike
Buffy closed the letter and picked up the tape. After a moment, she put it in the VCR and pressed play.
Spike came up on the screen and he was in the basement, smoking a cigarette.
“Hey pet, please don’t cry, since I know you probably are.” He stubbed his cigarette out. “I don’t know how upset you are, but don’t worry too much. I knew the consequences. We both did. It’s better me then the poof. One day, you’ll be able to be with him and be happy. I know you didn’t love me and you probably never will, but I’ll never stop. Don’t give up on life and take a break from slaying. You need it. I know last year was really bad, but in a way, it did us some good. I wouldn’t have given me another chance. I’ll love you for eternity and I hope you’re happy.” Then he smiled and the tape cut off.
Buffy sniffled as tears flooded down her face. “Spike, I’m not happy. I love you and I need you,” she wailed.
Angel knocked on the door and opened it. “Buffy?”
“Please go away,” Buffy whimpered.
“No. I know you love him. You cant be alone,” Angel said, going toward her.
He climbed on the bed and pulled her into his lap. “Just let it all out,” he whispered.
Buffy buried herself in Angel’s chest and bawled.
