“Yeah, well some people cant see a good thing when they’ve got it,” he said, as a group of vampires approached.
Buffy looked over at them. “Great,” she said.
Spike set his stuff to the side and put his cigarette out.
The blonde fought the vampires, but Buffy began to become unfocused.
She collapsed to the ground and put her hands to her head. “Ugh,” she whimpered.
“Buffy!” Spike yelled, staking the last of the vampires. He went over and crouch next to her. “Buffy?”
He turned her over and her eyes were glazed over. He scooped her up and took her back to the Summer’s house. “Willow!”
Willow came running from the kitchen. “What happened?”
Spike took her upstairs and laid Buffy in bed. “I don’t know. Something’s wrong.”
Willow went over and sat next to her. “Buffy?”
Buffy looked at her. “Willow?” She looked at Spike who had a worried gaze. “What happened?”
“You collapsed in the graveyard,” Spike said, going to the other side. “Do you remember what happened?”
“I think the demon I fought last night did something. He poked me with something,” she said.
“I know the demon you’re talking about,” Spike said, looking at Willow. “There’s an antidote that you’ll need to make.”
Spike proceeded to give Willow the instructions to make the cure and she disappeared downstairs.
“Slayer?” Spike asked.
Buffy raised her frightened gaze to his. “I’m sorry,” she said.
“Everything,” Buffy whispered. “I saw what happened to Anya and Xander and I couldn’t stop thinking about how I had hurt you,” she said. “But we need a break. Things were so out of control with us. I like being with you because things are easier and I’m happier. I…..still wanna be with you but I think we need to go back a few steps.”
Spike smiled and pushed her hair out of her face. “Lets fix this first and get you better. Then we’ll talk,” he said, as Willow came up.
“I think I got it. She has to drink all of it for it to work,” Willow said.
Buffy sipped the liquid but decided it would go better if she drank it fast.
She finished it with a grimace. “Eww.”
Spike smiled a little and took the mug from her. “How do we tell if it works?”
Willow smiled a little. “Buffy will feel it leave her body,” she said. “She might be a little drowsy after ward. All her energy went into keeping the demon in there.”
“Thanks,” Spike said, looking at Buffy. “Pet?”
“I’m okay,” Buffy said. “Now, what I meant before was, we need to go back to the kissing phase and go to the dating phase.”
Spike smiled. “You sure?” He asked.
Buffy nodded. “Yeah and I’m feeling tired now,” she said.
“You should get some rest,” Spike said.
“You should too,” Buffy said, reaching for him.
Spike took off his boots and jacket before sliding in next to her. He pulled her close to him and the slept peacefully.
