*A/N: Sorry for the slow update. No reviews and a lot of school both do their part in creating this huge author's block. I get that you can't do anything to help with the school bit, but if you like the story and want to see it continue, then please at least help with the reviews. Thanks.

Chapter 11 - Friends & Lovers

“Buffy!” Wesley couldn’t believe his eyes, blinked and almost dropped his files in the process of staring. She looked older, but that was expected. Her hair was lighter in color and her features had more distinct lines, those of a girl long gone. “What are you doing here?”

Buffy shrugged, “Ask Psycho Bitch from Hell.”

It was then he saw Eve standing a few feet away with her arms crossed over her chest and a pouty expression looking like a disappointed child.

“What did you do this time, Eve?” Wesley sighed.
“Geez, why do I always get the blame for everything bad happening in this place?” She sounded amused.

“Because you’re always the one who it rightfully belongs to” Wesley muttered, “So, what in the name of God have you done, getting Buffy Summers over here?”

“Wait, hang on! Rewind and freeze!” Buffy shouted, raising her arms in the air, “You know her?”

“Well, yes. She works here.”

Buffy was so suing this law firm. Angel’s or not, there was some serious whack with W&H. That Angel, who’d always been so righteous, had even considered taking a job here was beyond her. She didn’t know him anymore. Strange thing she did still have warm, fuzzy feelings whenever she saw him.
No! Stop thinking like that.
David, David, David, David, David, David, David, David, David, David ….

“Um, Buffy?”

Buffy shook her head to clear her thoughts before looking back at Wesley. When he didn’t say anything else, she raised her eyebrows. “What?”

“Didn’t you hear what Eve just said?”

“Um, sorry, no. Disappearing into a glow while sitting in my car kind of does that to my head, you know.” Buffy pointed to her head. “A bit clouded.”

“Right,” Wesley nodded in acknowledgement, “So you didn’t hear what she said?”

“Nope, I think we got that fact established…Talking about Psycho, where did she go?” Buffy looked around but the other woman had already disappeared.

Wesley shrugged, “Only the devil may know.”

“So what did she say?” Buffy raised her eyebrows.

“That the spell can’t be reversed. You’re stuck in L.A.” Wesley sighed, anticipating a rather violent action based on his past experiences with Buffy Summers.

“Excuse me, I thought you said I could never leave. What was that?”

“Not never, just…it’s complicated. The basic theory though, you can’t leave until you want to.”

“But I do want to!”

Wesley let out an experated sigh, “Obviously not as you came back here. And before you ask, you came back here because the Senior Partners preformed the spell here.” He laughed a little, “You really can miss a lot daydreaming.” Eve had - quickly but still in the same nonchalant way she always said things in - said that Buffy had come here and the partners had simply seized the opportunity.

“I was not daydreaming.” If life had taught her something it was that no matter how weird things may seem, it was best to handle them a.s.a.p. Step one; clear out the situation; She was stuck in the office belonging to her both exes, in the city where her father - whom she hadn’t seen for about 2 years - lived with his stupid new family. She was far away from her friends; Dawn was probably waiting for her right now. Will and Xander didn’t even know. Neither did Giles, as he would have a major freakout if he heard about this. Oh, and she had that old Hemery thing here, bet those people still hold a grudge. Gyms were way expensive.
Stop being such a baby, Buffy. Think how to get out of this.

Then it hit her. She would need Angel’s help, but they could talk like adults to each other right? She needed his resources to get to the bottom of this. She needed Wesley‘s research skills. She needed brains. In theory, she needed Giles, but he wasn’t really available anymore… So basically, Wesley? She needed his help. Felt like something had got stuck in her throat.

“Um..”

Wesley looked back at her.

“Can you help me?” She looked down and then back up. “Please?”

Wesley sighed. And nodded.

Liz sat in the waiting area, ready to board the plane and a cell phone glued to her ear.

“Yeah, I saw it happening. All very glowy, wasn’t really ready for that. Man, you did say you were gonna do something, but I did not expect her to disappear into a glowing light.”

“Elizabeth, she is not gone forever. Just for now. She is still my fiancée and I care about her.”

“Shut up”, Liz frowned.

“Sorry”

“Well, I have to call her sister and sound all worried. Talk to you later. Bye.”

Liz hung up and dialled another number.

“Dawn Summers speaking.”

“Hey Dawn, it’s Liz” Liz said, adapting her voice into a sob, “Something terrible has happened…”
