No Pushing Away by Spikes Queen
[Reviews - 0]

Spike came upstairs from the basement, ready to go patrolling with Buffy. He found her curled in a ball, with her head resting on her arms. He crouched in front of her. “Pet?” He asked, softly.

“Buffy lifted her head. “Hey,” she said, weakly.

“You okay? You don’t look too good,” he said.

“My head is splitting. My eyes are blurry and I feel like I got run over by a train. I’ve had it since this morning and it wont go away,” she whimpered.

“Maybe you should go up to bed,” Spike said.

“I can barely stand, Spike,” she said, tears in her eyes.

Spike frowned and stood. “Close you eyes,” he said.

Buffy did and let a few tears slid down her cheeks.

Spike gently took her hands. “Keep them closed,” he said, pulling her to her feet.

Buffy tightened her grasp on his hands and a light smile came to her lips. “What are you
doing, Spike?”

“Taking you upstairs,” Spike said, bringing her arms around his neck. “If you’re eyes are closed it will ease the pain.”

Buffy latched her arms around him. “You’re a god,” she whispered.

Spike scooped her up in his arms. “You okay?”

Buffy nodded and laid her head on his shoulder. “Yeah,” she said, sleepily.

Spike carefully walked upstairs, careful not to move her too much. Gently, he laid her in bed but her arms stayed around his neck. “Pet, lemme go get you some aspirin.”

Buffy reluctantly let him go and relaxed against her bed.

Spike went to the bathroom and flinched slightly before opening the medicine cabinet. He grabbed the bottle of pills and a glass of water. He went back into her room set them on the end table. He shrugged off his duster and threw it over the foot of the bed. Gently, he pulled Buffy to sitting position and helped her swallow a couple pills. She swallowed them and he laid her back down.

“Spike,” she mumbled.

“Yeah, Buffy?”

“Can you stay with me?” She asked, not opening her eyes. “Please?”

Spike sighed and toed off his boots before climbing in on the other side of her.

Buffy moved a little closer to him wanting to respect the distance he put between them. She
rested her hand on his and smiled. “Thank you,” she whispered.

“Get some sleep,” Spike said, gently. “It will help the pain.”

Spike closed his eyes and allowed himself to sleep once Buffy’s heart slowed to that of sleep.

When Spike woke, Buffy was still sleeping and he resisted the urge to pull her into his arms. Buffy murmured and moved closer to him. Spike stiffened but didn’t move. He closed his eyes and dozed a little, trying to relax.

Dawn went upstairs and walked into Buffy’s room. She froze when she saw Spike curled up with her sister on her bed. A small smile appeared and she left them alone.

Buffy’s eyes finally fluttered open and Spike was purring.

“Hey Pet,” he said.

Buffy smiled. “What time is it?” She asked.

“12:00. I guess we were both really tired,” he said.

Buffy leaned her head back so she could see him. She smiled warmly and squeezed his hand.

Spike smiled back. “How’s your head?”

“Not pounding. Thank God,” she said. “It was really bad.”

“Do you usually get headaches like that?” Spike asked.

Buffy shook her head. “Never had one that bad before,” she leaning back up against him. She felt Spike tense and couldn’t help but smile. “Spike, its okay.”

Slowly Spike relaxed and hugged her closer to him.

Someone knocked on the door. “Buffy?” Came Dawn’s voice.

“Come in,” Buffy said.

Dawn opened the door and raised an eyebrow. “Am I interrupting?” She asked.

Buffy shook her head. “No, just relaxing,” she said.

Dawn smiled. “You guys feel okay? It’s really late,” she said.

“I had a really bad headache last night and Spike was taking care of me,” she said.

Dawn smiled again. “Uh huh,” she said. “Need anything?”:

“No we’re okay. We’ll be up in a minute,” Buffy said.

“The SIT’s are at Xander’s so things are gunna be quiet for once,” Dawn said, before going downstairs.

“Thank god,” Buffy said, laying against Spike. “Never get quiet time anymore.”

Spike smiled. “You should take advantage of it like a long hot shower,” Spike said.

Buffy smiled. “Are you trying to get rid of me?” She asked, playfully.

“Not at all,” Spike whispered.

Buffy rolled her eyes good naturally and got of bed only to be pulled back on to the bed. “You know if you don’t let me out bed, I’m never gunna get in the shower.”

Spike buried his nose in her hair and inhaled. “Sorry,” he mumbled.

Buffy turned and kissed him softly.

Spike pulled away. “Buffy?”

“Hm?” Buffy murmured, her sparkling eyes meeting his. Her fingers tenderly ran over his face.

“What are you doing?” Spike asked, with wonder.

“Letting you know that it’s okay to touch me,” she said. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to do that.

“Do what?” He whispered.

“Touch you,” Buffy said.

“You really shouldn’t,” Spike said.

“Why?” Buffy asked.

Spike climbed out of bed. “Lets not talk about it,” he said.

Buffy flew out of bed and stood in front of him. “Oh no. We’ve avoided this long enough. Lets talk about it and forget it,” she said, blocking the door.

Spike backed away from her. “Buffy, please don’t…” he whispered.

Buffy walked toward him. “Spike, I cant keep acting like nothings wrong. I cant keep pretending that I’m okay because all I want to do is curl up into your arms and hide from the world. But I cant because you wont let me. You flinch every time I come into the room. I cant just sleep in your arms cuz then I’m never moving.”

Spike looked at her with wonder. “Well we cant,” he whispered.

“Why? What’s gunna happen?” Buffy asked, crossing her arms.

“I might hurt you again,” Spike said, very softly.

Buffy walked closer to him and put her hands on his face. “No, you wont,” she whispered.

Spike began to trembled at her touch. “Buffy, please don’t,” he whimpered.

“Don’t what? Don’t care for you? Don’t love you? Why?” Buffy asked.

“Because, it’s too much for me. We cant do that again,” he whispered, trembling violently.

“Spike, you have no idea how much it hurts to be like this,” she said, pulling him to her bed.

She sat him down and climbed behind him. But he was still trembling. “Lean back,” she said, softly. Hesitantly, he leaned back into her arms. “Now, listen to me. Stop pushing me away.” She kissed the side of his neck.

“Buffy,” Spike whimpered. Tears were in his eyes and he was trying very hard not to let them fall.

“No,” she said, kissing his neck. “Just
relax."
Spike turned his head slightly and met her lips with his own.

Buffy shifted and straddled his lap. Gently she pushed him back onto the bed.

Reluctantly, she pulled away. “See? No big deal,” she said, resting her forehead against his.

Spike leaned up and kissed her softly.

Later on patrol, they only staked two fledglings. “I guess we should go home, since it’s a slow night,” Buffy said.

“Yeah. The girls coming home?” Spike asked, walking next to her.

“Sometime tomorrow which is good cuz I never got my shower because of you,” she said, smiling.

Spike smiled. “You didn’t seem to mind,” he said, entwining her fingers.

“Yeah, I know,” she said, as they continued home.

At the house, they went up stairs and crawled into bed.

Buffy settled herself in his arms and sighed happily. “Goodnight Spike.”

“Goodnight Luv,” he whispered, kissing her hair.

Soon both vampire and slayer were sound asleep.
