Spike sighed as Buffy argued with the general. He went over and grabbed her hand. “We need to talk,” he said, pulling her over near Dawn. “Why do you keep going through this?”
“Spike…” Buffy said.
“Buffy I can get out of her and I can take Dawn,” he said.
Buffy looked at Dawn who looked hopeful. “You can?”
“Yes,” Spike said. “I can take her some place safe.”
“Buffy, let Spike take me and we’ll find a way to stop her,” Dawn said.
Buffy looked at Spike. “Okay,” she whispered,” she whispered. “How will we find you?”
“When you’re free go to the mansion,” Spike whispered. “Even if we’re not there, stay there and one of us, if not both, will show up.”
Buffy nodded and hugged Dawn tightly. “I love you,” she said.
“I know,” Dawn said. “I love you too.”
Dawn released Buffy and went to Spike’s side. “I’m ready.”
Buffy locked gazes with Spike and hugged him tightly. “I’m counting on you,” she said.
“I know and I’ll die before I fail you,” Spike said, softly.
Buffy pulled back and kissed his forehead tenderly. “Thank you.”
“I love you,” Spike whispered, before disappearing with Dawn.
By the time Dawn and Spike got back to Sunnydale, Spike was carrying her as she slept.
He found his car and gently laid her in the back seat. He climbed into the driver seat and sped
off.
2 hours later, they were in L.A. Spike stopped at the hotel and gently lifted Dawn out of the backseat. He walked through the door and a green demon looked up. “May I help you?”
“I need to speak to Angel. It’s an emergency,” Spike said. “Tell him its about Buffy.”
The demon ran upstairs and Spike laid Dawn on the couch. He shrugged off his duster and gently draped it over her.
Angel came running down the stairs. “Spike?”
Spike stood up. “Hi peaches,” he said.
“What are you doing her with Dawn?” Angel asked. “What did you do to her?”
“Nothing,” Spike said. “Buffy’s in trouble and I need to know how to stop a hell god.”
Angel crossed his arms. “A hell god?”
Spike grabbed Angel by his shirt collar. “Buffy could die if you don’t help me,” he
growled.
“Spike?” Came Dawn’s sleepy voice.
Spike released Angel and went over to Dawn. “Yeah, Nibblet?” He asked, sitting next to her.
Dawn curled up against him. “I’m scared,” she whispered.
Spike wrapped his arms around her and looked at Angel. “Do you have a first aid kit?” He asked.
“Yeah,” Angel said, pulling one out from behind the counter. “Here.”
Spike took it from him and gently cleaned the wound on Dawn’s forehead. She whimpered from the sting. “Sorry Nibblet,” Spike said, putting a band aid over the cut. “Do you hurt anywhere else?”
Dawn shook her head. “Lemme look at you hands,” she said, gently peeling off the bandages.
Angel watched as Dawn carefully cleaned Spike hands which looked to be cut pretty
badly. “Spike, you need to eat,” he said.
“I will,” Spike said, as Dawn wrapped a bandaged around each of his hands.
“You’ll have to take it easy until we get home.”
Spike smiled and ran his fingers through her hair. “We wont be here long. I don’t know how long Buffy can last,” he said.
“Well, lets clue me in here and we’ll figure something out,” Angel said.
Several hours later, they were headed back to Sunnydale. Spike was fidgety in the driver seat, keeping an eye on Dawn in the pack with anticipation.
He drove to Glory’s apartment and parked a little ways away. “If I’m not back in 20 minutes, I didn’t make it,” Spike said, looking at Dawn. “Don’t try and find Buffy just go to the mansion.”
Angel nodded and Spike got out.
“Spike?” Dawn asked, quietly.
“Yeah, Lil Bit?” Spike asked, looking back in the car.
“I love you,” Dawn said, softly.
“I love you too,” Spike answered with a smile before going toward the apartment.
20 minutes went by for slowly for Dawn. “Angel?”
“Dawn I have to,” Angel said.
Just as he was about to push off, Spike stumbled from the apartment with Glory’s head in his hands.
Dawn smiled. “He’s okay,” she said, happily.
Spike made his way to the car and got in. “Drive. We need to get to Buffy,” he said.
Angel got to the area easily with Spike and Dawn’s directions.
The knights left when the say the beasts’ head in Spike’s hand.
Buffy ran out to her sister. “You’re okay,” she whispered.
“Did you think otherwise?” Dawn asked, hugging her sister.
“No, I didn’t,” Buffy said, looking at Spike.
Spike collapsed to the ground as pain lanced through his body. “Dawn’s safe now,” he said, wiping blood from his mouth.
Buffy gently helped him up. “We need to get you home,” she said, sliding her arm around his waist. “Angel, can you help me?”
“Buffy, I’m fine,” Spike said, softly, limping next to her.
Dawn rolled her eyes and came up on to the other side of him. “Just let someone else help you for once,” she said, looking up at him.
Spike looked down at her and his heart melted at her eyes. “You know I did all this for you right?”
Dawn smiled. “I know,” she said, with soft eyes.
Slowly the gang head for Buffy’s house and collapsed in every available seat.
Painfully Spike made his way upstairs with Buffy at his side and Dawn behind him.
Buffy gently laid Spike on her bed and looked at him closely. “Dawn go get a first aid kit,” she said, taking off her jacket and long sleep shirt.
A minute later, Dawn came back in with a first aid kit. “How bad is it?” She asked.
“I don’t know but go downstairs while I clean him up,.” Buffy said, looking her sister.
“I wanna help,” Dawn protested.
“Nibblet,” Spike said, firmly. “You can make me something to eat.”
Dawn seemed to accept that and went downstairs.
Buffy looked at him. “I’m gunna have to get your shirt off,” she said, helping him sit up. Carefully she got his shirt off and gasped. “Oh god Spike.”
“It’s not that bad,” Spike said, laying down.
Buffy looked at his face. “Spike. You killed Glory,” she said, softly. “I cant believe your still here.”
Spike smiled softly. “I had a little help,” he whispered.
Buffy began to clean his wounds. “Tell me what happened,” she said.
“Tomorrow,” Spike said, softly. “I’m tired, Pet.”
Buffy smiled. “Get some sleep,” she said, taping his ribs.
Spike closed his eyes and let sleep take him.
About an hour later, Buffy finished patching him up and Dawn came up. “Buffy?”
“Yeah?” She asked, putting the first aid supplies away.
“Is he alright?” Dawn asked, sitting next to him.
Buffy sat next to her. “He’s gunna be fine,” she said. “He just need rest.”
“He saved my life you know,” she said.
“I know,” Buffy said, looking at Spike’s peaceful face.
Dawn looked at Spike then at Buffy. “Are you gunna stop treating him like crap?” She asked.
“I haven’t been to him since he was tortured by Glory,” she said, looking at Dawn.
“He really loves you,” Dawn said, softy. “He wouldn’t have gone through all this if he didn’t.”
“I know,” Buffy said, standing up.
Dawn smiled and laid next to Spike. After a few moments she fell asleep.
Buffy went downstairs and looked at the gang. “Dawn and Spike are sleeping,” she said, rubbing her arms.
“How are they?” Tara asked.
“Spike in pretty bad shape,” Buffy said. “I cant believe he made it.”
“He told me if he wasn’t out in 20 minutes to get Dawn to safety,” Angel said. “He came kinda close.”
“She wasn’t gunna let him without hurting him,” Buffy muttered. “Angel, can you stay for a little while?”
“I cant,” Angel said, softly. “Sorry, but I put some of my blood in the fridge for him. He’s gunna need it.”
“Thanks for helping” she said, with a smile.
“I cant believe I’m gunna say this but he really loves you,” Angel said. “And he loves Dawn so don’t take advantage of that.”
Buffy smiled as he left and Tara came forward. “You okay?”
Buffy nodded. “How ‘bout you?” She asked.
“Better with my brain un-mushy,” she said. “Go get some sleep.”
Buffy smiled. “You guys don’t need anything?” She asked.
“I think we can handle it,” she said.
Buffy smiled again before going upstairs. She changed her clothes before climbing in beside Spike. She was soon fast asleep.
When Buffy woke, Spike was snuggled up against her, purring softly.
Buffy reached her hand out and stroked his hair.
Spike murmured softly and his eyes fluttered open. “Hey,” he groaned.
“You okay?” Buffy asked, checking him over.
“I don’t know,” he said. “Hurts.”
Buffy gently pushed herself away from him, trying not to move him. “Do you want some to eat?” She asked, softly.
“I don’t think I can keep it down,” he said, as Dawn came in.
“You’re awake,” she said, going toward him.
“Hey Nibblet. You alright?” Spike asked, his focus totally on Dawn.
Dawn nodded and climbed in next to him. “You saved my life,” she said, fondly.
Spike smiled and pulled her into his arms. “I try,” he said.
Buffy rolled her eyes and laid next to him again. “Well, you impressed me,” she said, softly.
Spike looked down at her with awe. “Thanks Pet,” he said, lifting his arm in invitation.
Buffy smiled and snuggled up against him. “You’re welcome,” she said, kissing his chest.
