The Library
Buffy stormed into the library, angirly throwing her bag down
on the table. She didn't notice when a small box fell to the floor.
Impatiently throwing her blonde head back, she screamed, "GILES!!!!!!" The middle aged man all of two feet away from her mouth, and fully absorbed in a book, jumped at the now echoing sound of his name.
"Oh," Giles said meekly, "hello Buffy." He glanced sideways as
he realized something had fallen out of her purse when she came in. At first all he offered it was a mere glance, and then he quickly did a
double take. Laying on the floor was a box of Midol. Giles closed his
eyes as repressed memories from last month began to flood back into his mind. Dropping the book and emitting a small squeal, he dove behind the stacks. At first Buffy was a bit bewildered by his behavior, until she looked in the direction he'd been looking before. Noticing her forgotten Midol, she stomped over to where it had fallen, picked it up, and withdrew a stake from her bag.
"Giles!" Buffy yelled angrily, "I don't have time for this! Is
anything going on tonight I need to know about?!" She started tapping her foot impatiently as she tossed the stake from hand to hand trying to keep amused as she waited for her Watcher to come out of hiding.
From somewhere in the stacks, and small, frightened, British
voice began speaking to her. "Um...yes...," the voice stammered,
"vampires...stake them...good-bye!" Rolling her eyes, Buffy opened her mouth to say more, when the library doors swung open.
Xander Harris and Willow Rosenburg walked through the door,
laughing about something Cordelia has said. "Hey Buff..." Xander
started to say, until his eyes fell upon the medicine sitting on the
library table. Although he said nothing, the complete and total terror
in his eyes was evident. "I'd rather actually attend class than deal
with this!" He tossed over his shoulder as he ran out the door.
Throwing the stake down on the ground, Buffy let out an
exasperated sigh. "Why does everbybody always run?! Baby!" she screamed after Xander, "I'm going to hurt you just for that!" She started to walk towards the library doors, when she bent over a little and placed a hand over her stomach, "Later...." she said as she sat down in one of the library chairs.
Willow, eyes wide and still standing in the doorway took a
hesitant step forward, "B-B-Buffy?" she stammered out, "are you
a-alright?" Buffy nodded her head up and down, and Willow took another, more reasurred step.
Seeing the progress Willow was making toward Buffy, Giles jumped
out of his secured location and began flailing his arms around yelling,
"Willow NO!!! It's a trap! Back away...slowly and no sudden movements or shiny objects!" Willow hesitated. "NOW!!!" Giles screamed, jumping up and down. Looking at the seemingly insane Watcher, Willow nodded and ran out of the library, dragging the newly entered and extremley confused Oz with her.
Very slowly Buffy turned to face Giles. "Now Buffy..." he
began, "let's talk about this...." As Buffy bent down to pick up her
bag and her (Giles gulped) stake, she shot him a very confused look.
"Talk about what?" She asked, seeming to be normal. Giles was
about to suspect another trap when he realized one of the most dangerous things of all had just occured. A mood swing. "Oh!" she said, smacking herself on the forhead. "About where we're gonna meet tonight to go slaying?"
Giles was momentarily relived, until he realized what that ment.
Buffy, with sharp pointy weapons, and free reign to use them. He gulped again, and a light sweat broke out on his now rapidly greying forehead. he thought. "In front of the Bronze?" he offered. "Nine'o'clock?" Buffy smiled and walked out of the library. As soon as the door closed behind her, he sank into the nearest chair. "God help me." he said as he placed his head between his hands.

The Bronze

Pacing nervously, Giles couldn't belive he had decided to go
slaying tonight. There he was, actually hoping vampires would come,
either keeping Buffy busy, or if things became desperarte, kill him.
Sighing the himself, Giles shook his head to clear out the morbid thoughts. Giles tried convincing himself. But no matter how hard he tried, images of a screaming Xander and Willow, an out of control slayer, and bookcases tipping over left and right kept coming back to him. And that had just been half an hour into the morning. Buffy seemed to get worse, at that certain time of the month, as the day wore on. A cold shiver ran down his back as he waited for what seemed like an eternity for Buffy to show up. Finally she did, with her two friends trailing very far behind.
"You're late Buffy," Giles found himself saying before his
Watcher instincts could be stopped. He immediatly closed his mouth
and closed it hard. His words seemed to hang in the silence, the
only other sounds heard were the gasps of Willow and Xander to his
careless words.
A low growl sounded next to him, and again the Watcher in him
took over as he checked the sky for a full moon. Then the growl
changed into a very low voice, "I got a little carried away. I know
20 seconds is a big deal to you Watcher people," she added, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Now, can we please get to slaying?" Her patience was wearing thin, and the other three could tell, so they just nodded and followed her silently.
Soon, in total silence, they reached the cemetary. Buffy
wandered around searching for vampires, and the others maintaned
their distance. Finally, in pure annoyance, Buffy threw herself on a
nearby tombstone. "I cannot belive there are NO vampires anywhere! What right do they have to take away my fun?!" As Buffy pouted on the tombstone, a snicker began to fill the suffacating silence. A slight smile crossed Buffy's face as she picked herself up off the stone. "It's about time." she said, and walked over to the shadowy figure moving along the trees.

The Cemetary

As she neared the figure, she was happy to see who she hoped
would be there. Realizing it was spotted the intruder began to back up a little bit. "Angel," Buffy called out sweetly, "I have a nice, juicy
stake for you." Knowing that this was a challange, Angel had no chocie but to respond to her tauntings and remove himself from the woods.
"Hello Slayer," he said, finally emerging from the treeline,
opposite of Buffy and the trio. "I've been waiting for you." And with
that he attakced. Buffy easily fended him off, a block there, a
sidestep here, after 5 minutes of fighting, neither she nor Angel had
touched each other. Eventually, out of pure boredom, she struck him in the face. Hard. He staggered backwards, surprised by the blow. Then, he smiled. "So Buffy," he smirked, "wanna play?"
"More than you know." She replied, matching his smirk perfectly,
maybe even a little more evil than the original. Xander heard this,
and found himself moving behind Angel for cover. Although Angel was unnerved by that, he didn't show it.
Xander received a look of mocking from Angel as he said,
"Okay, after I kill the slayer, you'll be next." He dove at Buffy again,
this time catching he by surprise as he knocked her down. He landed on top of her as the hit the ground. "Hmmm," he said, as sly grin coming to his face, "this position just keeps getting better and
better." Buffys face turned to one of a mixture of disgust and rage,
and with a sudden adreniline rush, she flipped so that she was on top
of him.
Acting quickly, she punched him hard a little below the belt,
and them kicked him in the head, immediatly sending him into a daze.
Using those few precoius moments of his confusion, she reached into
her bag and pulled out a stake, and held it over his heart, hesitating.
"You can't do it Slayer," he said weakly. "Don't even try."
Although his pride was hurt, and he himself was damaged, he did his
best to sneer at her.
She leaned very close to his face and with her evilest smile
yet she whispered, "I was so hoping you'd say that." Then, with every
last bit of strenght she had in her, she brought the stake down into
his chest. The look of shock on his face was what made all the hours of pain and sadness worth it.
She jumped back, and watched Angel explode into a smile of dust.
Then she bent down and collected the ashes. she thought happily. Holding the ashes in her hands, she
skipped home, leaving the other three to gape after her.
"You know," Xander began pointing after her, "I'm beginning to
think this may not be such a bad thing." Willow shot him a look.
"What?" he asked.
Willow rolled her eyes. "Well, at least it's over."
"For this month." Giles added cynically. The three looked at
each other warily, sighed, and then down-heartedly trudged towards home.
The End!
