Buffy The Vampire Slayer > BTVS - Season Seven
You need to know how much by Spikes Queen
[Reviews - 1]

“Well, at least you could tell me you’re glad to see me,” Angel said.

“I am,” she said, leaning in for a kiss as Spike came down the stairs. She pulled back and looked at him. “Spike….it’s not what it looks like.”

Really?” Spike asked, softly. “Cuz it looked like you were gunna kiss him. Don’t let me interrupt.”

Angel looked back and forth between them. “What’s going on?”

“I was just leaving,” Spike said, turning
around.

“Spike,” Buffy said, softly.

“Leave me alone, Buffy,” Spike said, leaving.

Buffy heard the tone of his voice and knew he was crying. “Oh no,” she whispered.

“Buffy?” Angel asked. Buffy raised her tear filled eyes to his. “Why are you crying?”

“Because I did it again,” Buffy said, getting the scythe and leaving the tomb.

“Did what?” Angel asked, following her.

“Hurt Spike,” Buffy said, going home.

“So what?” Angel growled. “He’s hurt his share of people.”

“Not me,” Buffy said, softly. “We gotta get back.”

At the house, when Buffy and Angel came through the door, Dawn kicked Buffy in the shin.

“Ow,” Buffy whined.

“Dumbass,” Dawn said.

“Is Spike here?” Buffy asked.

“No,” Giles said from the dining room.

Buffy went in. “I chopped Caleb in half and Angel has some information. I’m gunna go find Spike but I’ll be back,” she said, leaving.

Buffy searched for hours before she found Spike at her mother’s grave. “Spike?”

Spike stood up and walked away from her.

Buffy grabbed his arm. “Spike, please don’t walk away from me,” she pleaded softly.

Spike snatched his arm free. “You are not gunna hurt me again,” he growled, walking away.

“No, Spike, please,” she said, grabbing his arm again. “It’s not what you thought.”

Spike yanked his arm free again. “Yes it is. We spent the night together, I wake up alone, and you go running to your ex. It’s exactly what I thought and I can’t believe I thought things were different,” he said.

“They are,” Buffy said, desperately. “Just let me explain.”

“Buffy there’s nothing to explain,” he said, walking away from her.

“No, Spike. I’m sorry,” she said, moving in front of him.

Spike sighed and bowed his head. “You’re gunna kill me, Buffy,” he said.

Buffy slid her hand into his. “I’m sorry,” she said. “Please, lets go home.”

Spike her hand. “Okay,” he said, softly.

Buffy snuggled up against him and they walked home.

Angel looked up as the front door opened and Buffy and Spike came in hand-in-hand. Spike stopped short when he saw Angel.

Buffy squeezed his hand gently. “What did you find out?” She asked the gang, pulling Spike into the dining room.

Angel picked up the amulet.

“I can already tell you I have nothing that goes with that,” Buffy said, wrapping Spike’s arms around her waist.

“It’s not for you,” Angel said.

“Splainy?” Buffy asked.

“It’s for an ensouled champion,” Angel said. “Stronger then human, like me.”

Buffy felt Spike tense and stroked his arm. “What’s it for?”

“I just know it’s supposed to help you,” he said.

“So, you’re gunna be with me in this?”
Buffy asked, softly.

“Every step,” Angel said, smiling at her.

Buffy could feel Spike’s anger. “No. You
cant stay and help. I need a second front in LA. Incase we lose,” she said.

Spike visibly relaxed a little.

Angel raised an eyebrow. “Okay, I think somebody forgot to tell me something.”

Buffy scowled at him. “What are you talking about?”

“You were all upset when Spike left the tomb, now you guys are all snuggly,” he said.

Spike growled a little.

Buffy turned her head. “Spike it’s okay,” she said, softly. Spike looked at her and nodded. Buffy kissed his cheek. “I’m talk to Angel and fix this. I’ll meet you downstairs,” she said, pulling Angel to the back porch.

Spike did as he was told and went to the basement to wait for her.

Buffy crossed her arms. “Angel, Spike is part of my team. He’s my friend, probably more. He has a soul now and I care about him, a lot,” she said.

“Do you love him?” Angel asked, softly.

“I don’t know,” Buffy said, ducking her gaze.

“Well you better find out,” Angel said, giving the amulet to her. “I’ll to LA so be careful.”

“I will,” Buffy said, as Angel disappeared into the shadows.

She looked at the amulet and went inside. She descended the stairs to the basement where Spike was sitting on his cot.

She took off her coat and sat next to him. She snuggled into his arms and held out to the amulet to him.

Spike took the amulet from her. “I’ve been called a lot of things in my time. Never a champion,” he said.

“You’re a champion to me,” she whispered. “Always have been.”

Spike kissed her hair. “It means a lot, Buffy,” he said.

“Spike,” she said, lifting her head. She
kissed him softly then more forcefully. “I love you.”

Spike pushed her away gently. “Buffy, please don’t say that just because the world is ending,” he said.

Buffy met his gaze. “I’m saying it because I mean it,” she said.

“You do?” Spike asked.

“I do, Spike,” she said, pushing him onto his back. “And it’s time you knew how much,” she said, kissing him again.
