One Moment by Jenifer

Standard diclaimer applies- I don't own any of the characters I am just borrowing them for fun. This is a Buffy/Angel Fanfic. I am a strong beleiver that the should be together. It takes place after the Halloween ep. Rating- PG-13 due to some minor gropping towards the end. This is my first fanfic and any imput on it would be great. Enjoy.

The room is dark, except for a small reading light on a nightstand, Night had fallen outside. The figure of a man lay on the bed, restlessness upon him. How can his life suddenly be so complicated. So many years alone, no one to care for, no one to love. Love something he thought he would never feel again in his life. Now he wasn't sure he could actually find a way to make it work. Memories of her face invaded his mind. The few short moments of passions they had shared in the past were enough for a lifetime. Afraid to love her, afraid that he may not be able to control the evil that lies inside. Fate had brought them together. The memory of their first meeting was still fresh in his mind, as if it had taken place only yesterday. The moment he saw her he knew that she was the chosen one, the slayer. At that point he thought of her as nothing more then another killing tool, but that had changed the moment he looked into her eyes. That was his first mistake. From that moment on he wanted more. To hold her in his arms, to touch her soft skin, the kiss her beautiful lips. She had almost become like an obsession to him. He would find himself following her in the shadows, watching her every move. He had even been drawn to her window at night to watch her sleep. To watch her as she dreamed. His heart wishing he could touch her, love her the way a human could. Angel's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a noise outside the window. He felt her near.

Buffy, Xander, and Willow walked towards the Bronze. Their spirits were high and their focus for the night was fun. The Halloween horror they had experienced several nights before had past, and as things go it was pretty slow in Sunnydale.

Buffy slowed as she passed the building two blocks from the Bronze. She felt an evil presence there, even though it was only a faint feeling, she still slowed her pace and focused on her surrounding. She knew Angel lived near, and her heart soared thinking that it might be him that she was feeling. Buffy had hoped that she would see him tonight, He always had a way of appearing when she needed him, and tonight she needed him. She needed to feel his arms around her as they danced, to feel his kiss once again. Halloween had been such a break through in their relationship. He had kept her safe when she was not her self, and then the time they had spent at her house in each other's arms. She felt herself smile as she thought of it. His kiss had a very special affect on her, it was like nothing she had felt before.

"I think we lost her Will.", Xander said looking at Buffy who had a smile on her face and a far off look in her eye.

"What?", Buffy replied snapping back into reality.

"Where were you just then?" Willow asked as they walked closer to the Bronze.

"Lost in thought I guess.", Buffy said with a sly smile.

The three friends walk on, and soon they came to the Bronze. They went in and found a table close to the dance floor. Xander and Willow went to get drinks, leaving Buffy alone with her thoughts once again

Angel decided he could not deny his feelings again tonight, he had to see her, even if it was only for a moment. He put on his jacket and headed out the door, towards the Bronze.

Buffy heard a slow song start in the background, it was "Angel" by Sarah Mclachlan. She listened to the words. As it played Buffy thought of how perfect the song was for her and Angel, her thoughts were interrupted by a light touch on her shoulder. She turned. There he stood, beautiful Angel.

Angel took her hand and led her to the dance floor as the song played on. They danced so close. He could feel her heat beat quicken as he pulled her closer to him. She slowly looked into his eyes. She saw love within the darkness of them. A feeling that made her feel safe. He lightly kissed her nose and then her lips. The energy between them was strong. Neither had even said a word, and yet everything had already been said through their eyes. Buffy stared at Angel longingly as they pulled their lips apart. She realized she never wanted this moment to end. As they danced the whole world and all it's problems disappeared around them. To Buffy it was as if it were only her and Angel in the world. She passionately kissed him again.

It took everything in Angel not to pick her up and take her out of the Bronze and back to his house, where they could be alone. He wanted her more every time she touched him and yet he realized what could happen if things were to go further.

The song slowly ended and they gently pulled their lips apart. Buffy's heart was on fire. She loved Angel with every inch of her body and mind. They walked off the dance floor hand in hand and back to the table where Willow and Xander were sitting,

Xander and Willow had watched them dancing. Xander had finally come to grips with the fact that Buffy was in love with Angel and that she would only ever see him as a friend. And then there was poor Willow who could only dream that Xander would some day take her in his arms the way Angel did Buffy.

Angel said his hellos to Willow and Xander and then looked to Buffy, "Would you like to go for a walk?" he asked.

"Sure", she said happy that he wasn't planning on disappearing anytime soon.

Angel's heart soared as she answered. He wanted to show her his apartment but also wanted to wait for the right time. He didn't want to seem that he was pushing for something more.

They said their good byes, and Willow and Xander watched as they walked out of the Bronze hand in hand.

Outside the air was cool and Buffy suddenly wish she had the jacket that Angel had given her. Angel noticed her shiver and quickly took off his jacket and gave it to her.

"Thanks", she said feeling the heat from his body as she put it on. "You know when I was walking to the Bronze early I thought I could feel you a couple of blocks from here." Buffy said questioning. She had said it mainly to see if her feelings were right, but in the back of her mind she knew that she had hoped he would take her there.

"That's were I live. I felt you as you walked by too.", he said as he looked in her eyes, "Would you like to see it.?" Angel couldn't believe he had just asked her back to his house. Buffy just smiled and started walking in the direction of his apartment. He took her hand and they walked the two blocks together.

Buffy knew that she was in no hurry to leave him and with her mom in New York for the weekend, she also knew that she didn't have to hurry home. Angel's apartment was dark but cozy. As they walked in Buffy noticed he didn't have much stuff. She walked in and took of his jacket. Buffy looked around, she saw mostly books stacked on a bookcase, most of which look like something that Giles would have loved to own. She finally decided to sit on his bed. "Maybe this is being to forward', Buffy thought to herself with a smile.

"What's the smile for", Angel asked turning on the small light by his bed.

"Nothing. Your apartment is very cozy." Buffy replied making herself comfortable.

"Not much, but it serves it's purpose." Angel said. He felt nervous with her there. He didn't know what to say next. He really didn't want to say anything, There she was in his house, sitting on his bed. How many times had he dreamed of that same situation, and yet now he had no idea how to act. It had been a very long time since he had a girlfriend and now he didn't know what to do next. He had to think of something to say, and quick.

Buffy noticed Angel getting restless. He almost looked like he didn't know what to do next. She decided that if she wanted something to happen she was going to have to start it.

Angel quickly blurted out the first thing that came to mind, "It's getting late. Is your mom going to be worried?"

"She's in New York for the weekend, but if you trying to get rid of me already, I can leave", Buffy replied with a grin. "Too perfect', Angel thought to himself. Here she was at his house and in no hurry to go home. But why was he so nervous. This was Buffy, and he knew she loved him for what he was. "I don't want you to go, I just don't want to get you in trouble either." Angel finally answered and he got up and walked over to where she sat. He sat down and gave her a sexy smile. "I don't have a TV or anything so we have to entertain ourselves."

"And that would be bad, how?" Buffy questioned as she leaned in towards his lips.

Angel slowly slid his hand behind her neck and drew her to him. They kissed deeply. He slowly laid her back on the bed as they kissed. Buffy ran her fingers through his hair and then down his chest to the top if his jeans.

Angel was the first to pull away from their kiss and said "Buffy, this doesn't have to go any further then you want." She smiled sweetly at him, with love in her eyes, " I know. If you thinks are getting out of control, we can stop." She gently kissed his lips. Her hand now slightly pulling on his shirt, untucking it from his jeans. She slid her hand under his shirt and ran it up his bare chest, while doing this she stared deeply in his eyes. She wanted him more then anything, but she also reminded herself that things could get out of control. She trusted Angel with her life and she knew he would never hurt her.

Angel sat up and pulled off his white T-shirt, reveling his beautiful bare chest and arms. He scoped Buffy in his arms and kissed her again. As they kissed Angel slowly removed her shirt, He could feel the desire rise in him. He wanted her, but in order to stay in control he had to move slowly. They continued to kiss deeply. Buffy slowly kissed lightly down Angel's neck and along his chest and then back to his lips. The desire was becoming almost too much for Angel. He needed to pull away, yet he still wanted her so badly. He slowly released from their kiss and looked loving at her,

"Buffy", he said in a whisper, " I need to stop. I want you more then I should and I need to regain control of the desire I feel for you."

"I understand", she replied lightly kissing his nose. "We can just lay here and hold each other." Buffy did understand, even though it was hard for her to stop. A big part of her wanted more then anything to take it further, much further. She knew the risk of taking it here, but at that moment it was almost worth the risk.

Angel was suddenly saddened. Someday she would want to go further and what if he couldn't. Would Buffy leave him for some one who could give her all the things she needed. His worry showed on his face. "Angel I'm happy just being in your arms, I don't need anything more then that. Just you", Buffy said lovingly as she laid her head against his chest.

They held each other for what seemed like forever. Buffy soon drifted off to sleep in his arms, and Angel couldn't remember a happier moment in his life. Soon he to drifted off to sleep, with his arms wrapped around the girl he was deeply in love with.
