Without even knowing that it was killing me.

Buffy is sitting over the hole that was once Sunnydale, and is thinking about her dead lover.
'Without a soul
my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home.'
"You didn't have a soul, but back then, it felt like you did.
And I was the one without a soul."
Buffy is crying, looking down to the bottom of the hole.
A tear falls down, to the bottom of the hole.
"Then you finally got a soul, for me.
And I blew it, I let you go, I let you die."
A bright white light shines before Buffy's eyes,
blinding her for a moment.
'(Wake me up.)
Wake me up inside.
(I can't wake up.)

(Save me.)
Call my name and save me from the dark.

Before I come undone.

Save me from the nothing I've become.'
Buffy still tears in her eyes, still blinded from the light.
She rubs her eyes and looks up.
In front of her there is an image of Spike.
It looks like he's floating in the air, like he's a ghost, a spirit.
She rubs her eyes again.
"I must be dreaming." she says.
The image of Spike comes closer to her and with his hands he goes through her.
Like he's touching her.
"You're not dreaming.
I'm real, well, as real as I can be.
You're pain awoke me."
Buffy is terrified of what's happening.
She stares at Spike and more tears roll down from her eyes.
'Now that I know what I'm without
you can't just leave me.
Breathe into me and make me real
Bring me to life.'
Spike smiles at Buffy, she looks desperate.
"Why can't you come back to me ?
I know you didn't believe me when I said I loved you, but I did.
I do."
Spike moves his hand around Buffy face, without being able to touch her.
Buffy shivers.
"I know you loved me. But you have to let me go.
You have to stop beating yourself up over my death.
You have to stop bringing me to life.
I'm dead."
Tears cover Buffy's face, she can't believe that he's saying this.
'(Wake me up.)

(I can't wake up.)

Buffy stands up, she's having trouble breathing, letting him go.
"Why is it such a bad thing that you're still alive to me ?
Isn't this what you always wanted ?
For me to love you, need you.
I can't stand not having you around anymore!"
She falls down, faints, Spike just looks at her and then he reaches out his hand and touches her heart.
'Bring me to life.
I've been living a lie
There's nothing inside.
Bring me to life.'
With his hand he forms some sort of red glow, a glow filled with love and tenderness.
Buffy opens her eyes and stares Spike's spirit in the eyes.
'Frozen inside without your touch,
without your love, darling.
Only you are the life among the dead.'
"Kiss me, take me with you.
Please, why wont you save me ?"
Buffy tries to touch Spike, but her hand goes right through his body, his spirit.
"I will kiss you every night in your dreams.
I will always save you, it's what I do.
But I would never take you with me, you deserve to live, grow old.
To have a life without the dead."
He smiles at Buffy, she looks away.
'All of this sight
I can't believe I couldn't see
Kept in the dark
but you were there in front of me
I've been sleeping a 1000 years it seems.
I've got to open my eyes to everything.
Without a thought
Without a voice
Without a soul
Don't let me die here
There must be something wrong.
Bring me to life.'
Spike enters Buffy's body, given her a feeling of true content, pure joy.
She's happy, even if it is only for a second.
She can feel him again, have him with her, inside her.
"You make me feel alive."
She whispers.
"Always, I will do that forever."
He whispers to her heart, her mind, body and soul.
'(Wake me up.)
Wake me up inside.
(I can't wake up.)
Wake me up inside.
(Save me.)
Call my name and save me from the dark.
(Wake me up.)
Bid my blood to run.
(I can't wake up.)
Before I come undone.

Save me from the nothing I've become.'
Buffy opens her eyes and he is gone.
His spirit will live on forever, but still, he is gone.
"You shouldn't leave me, you've saved me so many times.
Saved my soul from dying, and I'll never forget that I couldn't do the same for you.
You're the only thing that can wake me up inside,
and I failed you.
I'm sorry."
Buffy stands up, looks to the hole and closes her eyes.
She thinks of him, he is in her memory.
'Bring me to life.
I've been living a lie
There's nothing inside.'
She throws a rose into the hole and turns around.
"Forever and ever."
It whispers in her heart, and she knows, that he will always be with her.
'Bring me to life '
This is dedicated to all the Spuffy fans and everyone who has ever lost somebody and has felt guilty about it.
You should never blame yourself for another ones death, cause you have to know, that whoever you have lost, doesn't blame you either...
