Summary: Wesley discovers a letter written by Lilah on the last day he saw her. Just a short little fic.
*******Please review. Even if it’s just to say I should never write again.*******

The last couple of months had been a strain to say the least. The old Angel Investigations team was gone and they were all settling into their new lives. Wesley had been used to the six of them being within shouting distance. Now they were a phone call away. Just pick up the phone, dial a number, and you were connected instantly. For some reason, that didn’t make Wesley feel any less lonely and isolated.

He sat at his brand new desk filing away various documents when the came across a long white envelope with his name on it. He was, of course, suspicious as the desk had just been delivered that morning. Leaning over to pick it up, he caught a familiar smell. He couldn’t place the sent.

Wesley opened the envelope and pulled out the letter. He unfolded it and out dropped a one dollar bill. The scent was Chanel. The letter was from Lilah.

My dearest Wesley,
Part of me never expected you to actually stick to this deal, but there you are. I’m writing this on the last day that I’ll ever see you. Who knows where I’ll be after my last job is done. I arranged for you to find this as you were settling into your new digs. Even dead I’ve still got kick-ass connections. There are a few reasons why I’m writing to you now. 1)I won’t be there to see your face when you find out that, yes Lilah Morgan had real human emotions. And 2.) I love you. I never thought I would ever or could ever love anyone or anything once I went to that place. I denied it to my colleagues and even to myself. You probably don’t believe me, but it’s true. No man has ever made me feel like you did. And I’m not talking about the mind blowing sex. I mean the jealousy I felt when I could feel you wishing I was her. The worrying about you when it actually rained fire. And t top it all off, you saved me when I was stuck inside Wolfram and Hart. My knight in shining blah, blah, blah. I brushed those off as lapses in my senses.

That Freudian slip when you called it a relationship mean more to me than I though it would. I told you to sign that dollar you’re holding as proof of the moment. In reality, it was proof to me that for a split second we belonged to each other. Or, at least, I belonged to you. You, my darling, are the only man on the face of the Earth who can say that.

Finally, about Wolfram and Hart, I want to tell you to be careful, but I’m afraid that’s not possible. The only advice I can give you is to stick together. Angel was right “divide and conquer”. Remember that. Remember me.

Love you. Miss you.
L.

Wesley never knew what to call their relationship. They barely had a conversation out of the bed, but they had something deeper than sex. . He knew it was more when he was gutted at the sight of her lifeless body. There was something strong between them. Lilah certainly believed so. And now she was gone. Maybe missing her like he did and thinking about her all the time meant love. Wesley would never know.
