Spike tore out of the garage with such speed, the door splintered. He narrowed his eyes out of the tinted window to avoid the sun. He held Drusilla close to him as he sped up. Meanwhile, Buffy and Angel were continuing their sword fight. Buffy sent Angel flying through the doorway towards Acathla. She continued to kick him down, until he was at a heap on the floor. The blood from Buffy's cut dripped down on his silk shirt. As Buffy was about to bring the sword down on Angel's head, his eyes glowed a bright red. He screamed in anger. With one move, he grabbed the sword from Buffy's hand and shoved it into her abdomine. Buffy's cry of pain was ear-shattering. She fell to the ground, watered eyes staring up at Angel. "Good-bye, lover." Angel sneered. With that, Buffy the Vampire SLayer died.
In the hospital room, Willow finished the spell. The Orb glowed a bright yellow, and Willow suddenly went back to normal. Angel's laugh of triumph over his kill suddenly changed to that of shock. His eyes glowed a bright yellow. Angel looked around, uncertain of where he was. Suddenly, he knew what had happened. "Oh no! Ms. Calander! And . . .and . . . BUFFY!!!!!" Angel turned around to see his true love lying in a pool of her own blood. "Oh Buffy! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" Angel collapsed beside the dead slayer. He held her head to his chest. "No! How could I . . .?! NO!" Angel began to cry, harsh tears streaming down his perfect face. Then Acathla's mouth opened up to reveal hell. Angel's eyes went wide with fear. The only way to stop this was to sacrifice himself. Angel gently picked up Buffy, caressing his face with her limp hair. Before stepping into the vortex, he kissed Buffy's cold lips. Then he entered the vortex with his lover in his trembling arms. The vortex swallowed him up.
Xander watched from the shadows, horrified at what had just happened. "Buffy . . ." Xander's eyes exploded in tears. "Oh, Buffy . . . NO!" Xander looked up at Acathla. "I loved you, Buffy." he whispered into nothingness. Suddenly, a loose piece of the ceiling fell on Xander, squishing his head like a melon.
