~~ There’s More to Me Than You~~

< I am so bored. > Willow thought to herself in the quiet dorm room that she shared with Buffy. The red head hadn’t touched a spell book since the night she had Buffy kissing Spike with her “will be done” spell. She had baked countless amounts of cookies for her friends in order to get them to forgive her. They had forgiven her but made a stipulation that she wasn’t to practice any magic alone. She reluctantly agreed and it had been weeks and she was starting to go into withdraw. She was growing tiresome and bored since Buffy and Giles went to Florida on a much needed Watcher/Slayer vacation since the Hellmouth activity was low.

Slowly she moved away from her computer and kneeled down in front of her bed and pulled out the trunk that she ordered from one of Giles’ catalogs. She flipped the latch and opened the trunk. She moved some pictures that she had taken with Buffy and Xander and dug clear to the bottom of the trunk. Willow began to smile as her fingertips touched the edges of the book she was looking for.

Meanwhile at the Magic Box…

“Oh, come on Junior!” Xander said pleading with Spike as they both stood in the Magic Box. Spike shrugged and went to take a seat at the table and placed his boots on top of the flat surface.

“I’ll think about it.”

“Puh-lease. Don’t make me beg.” Xander said looking at Spike.

“You are begging.” Spike said with a smirk. Xander sighed heavily. “Now…Xapper, give me one good reason why I should stay here and watch the bloody Magic Box? And for an hour at that?” Spike asked as he folded his arms over his chest as he faintly smelled the old leather.

“Because I’m your roommate and I promised Anya that we would go out to dinner tonight. I just need you to watch it for the hour right before closing.” Xander said as he walked over to where Spike had taken his seat. Spike was going to do it he just wanted to make the boy nervous. He had been staying with him for a little over six months in his parents’ basement and they had become friends and making him nervous was his favorite pastime.

“Okay, I’ll do it. But, you do know that you bloody well owe me for this one Harris?” Spike added as Xander nodded his head.

“Thanks, Blood Breath.” Xander said as he ran to the back of the shop where Anya was storing things away. “Anya he said yes!”

Willow laid across her bed and reread the spell several times, memorizing it, before deciding that she was indeed going to try it out. All she needed to do was go get the ingredients and someone to supervise over her. She stood up and grabbed a pad of paper and wrote down to pick up some red candles, some incense, and some salt for her circle. She picked up the phone to call the Magic Box in hope of Anya letting her get these things. After a few rings Willow almost hung up before she heard a familiar voice answer the phone.

“Hello, Magic Box. How can I help you?” A British voice said into the other end of the phone.

“Spike, is that you?” Willow said in a shocked voice.

“What the bloody hell do you want Red? I’m working here ya know?” Spike said annoyed.

“Well, I wanted to buy some things. Let me talk to Anya.” She said as she tried to get Spike off the phone.

“No can do Luv. Demon Girl and Xapper went out for dinner about an hour ago and I said I would watch over the store since it was near closing time.” Spike said as he opened up the cash register to count the money like Anya had told him.

“Well, Spike, I need some things so I’ll be over in a little while. Okay?” Willow added.

“Alright, Pet. But when the sign says closed your out of luck so you better hurry.” Spike said as he hung up the receiver. Willow looked at the phone and hung up. She placed some shoes on her small feet and armed herself with a stake and some holy water as she made her way over to the Magic Box.

Spike looked up when he heard the chimes of the door to the Magic Box go off as Willow ran through the door, slamming it behind her. Willow had run all the way over so that Spike wouldn’t close the store without her getting the ingredients for the spell that she was doing. She was leaning on the closed door as she tried to get her heart rate to slow down. Slowly she slid down to the floor into a heap of exhaustion.

“Bloody hell, Luv. Did you run a marathon on your way?” Spike asked humorously. Willow stood up as her breathing had labored some and looked at Spike like he had lost his mind.

“You said I had to get here before you closed. So I ran over before you flicked on the closed sign.” Willow said as her once reddened face started to return to its normal color. Spike started to laugh a bit as Willow looked at him in confusion.

“Red, I would have waited for you. I didn’t think that you’d sprint all the way over here like it was the Olympics.” Spike said as he pulled out a chair for her to sit. Willow walked over to the vacant chair and sat down with a ‘Humph’.

“Well, since you’re here you can help me get these few things and help me with a spell.” Willow spit out while Spike was walking towards the backroom to put away the rest of Anya’s inventory.

“No!” Spike yelled from the backroom. Willow stood as Spike was in the backroom and began gathering the ingredients she needed. After putting the things she needed in a bag and leaving a note and her credit card in the register for Anya, she went to talk Spike into helping her.

“No, you won’t come over and help me? Or no, I can’t get the ingredients?” Willow asked. Spike turned and saw how small she looked in the doorway but she still had that fire dancing in her eyes.

“No, I won’t come over and help. No way in hell Red. You do remember what happened last time don’t you? Me…Slayer…lip locked?” Spike asked sarcastically. Willow frowned at the comment.

“Yes, Spike. I do remember. Everyone keeps reminding me over and over. I told you all I was sorry. And-and I made everyone tons of cookies to which you all ate.” Willow started to get all fidgety as she started to get upset.

“But why today?” Spike asked. “Can’t you just do it another day when Harris or Demon Girl are here to help you do all of witchy stuff?” Willow sighed in defeat. She gathered all the control in her not cry and plastered a fake smile across her face.

“Thank you, Spike. That sounds like a good idea.” Willow said as she turned around and walked back out into the lobby. Spike shrugged his shoulders and finished stocking the shelves for Anya. Spike’s ears perked up when he heard the chimes of the front door.

“We’re bloody closed!” Spike yelled from the backroom. Spike stood quietly before actually going out into the lobby. Spike opened his senses and couldn’t feel a thing. He then noticed that on the shelf closet to the door, some red candles were missing.

“Oh, bloody hell.” Spike said as he turned off the lights and locked the front door before taking off to find the novice witch.

Willow opted not to go back to the dorms for the night. She would just do her spell in the comfort of her own bedroom at her parents’ house. They were away in Pars for a conference so she had the house to herself. < I will do this by myself. I will not screw up. > Willow said to herself as she walked into her house. She took her ingredients and went up to her room. She placed everything on the bed and went to take a bath to calm her senses before the spell.

Spike had gone to the dorms in hope of finding Willow and was unsuccessful. He was getting very impatient at this point. He didn’t know whether to be scared or pissed that Willow may have him kissing Xander or Anya next. He would just go supervise her and make sure she didn’t conjure up some vamp eating demon. He extended his senses and reached out and found Willow’s lingering smell of vanilla and lavender in the air. He followed all the way to her parents’ house. He knocked on the door and received no answer. Slowly he turned the knob and found that it was unlocked. He made a mental note to reprimand her for leaving her door unlocked. Spike thought that he was free and clear to go into her house until he ran smack dab into the invisible barrier. It caused him to stagger back. Spike rubbed his head and started to mumble obscenities.

Willow felt the magical barrier go up and stood up from the bath she was taking. Dripping wet, she opened the door and peered into the hallway and saw nothing. She closed the door to get the towel that was hanging on it and wrapped it around her body and went to find out what was going on. Willow then took the stairs slowly and peered into the living room and noticed that the front door was open. She took one step out into the living room and realized that Spike was leaning on the invisible barrier.

“Spike, what the hell are you doing?” Willow asked as she placed her hands on her hips to wait for an answer.

“Well, Luv, it’s like this. You asked me to help with a spell and here I am. Now all you have to do is let me in to help.” Spike said stepping back from the barrier that Willow had erected around the house.

“I thought that I should wait for Xander or Anya like you suggested.” Willow said sarcastically. Spike nodded at her even though she was throwing his words back at him but then added his own rebuttal.

“I thought that was a good idea too but you took the ingredients anyway. And seein’ how either Xapper or Demon Girl won’t be back for a couple of hours, I’ll be the one to help.” Willow shrugged and waved him in and he stepped through the front door and closed it behind him. He watched her go upstairs as the towel barely covered her bottom. He shook his head to free his thoughts and followed behind her.

Spike watched Willow from her doorway as she grabbed some clothes and clutched her towel to her chest.

“So Pet, tell me about this spell.” Spike said leaning into the door frame. Willow just looked at Spike. She wasn’t sure what he wanted to her say so she just went with whatever came to her. She was feeling a little agitated that everyone was questioning her and was starting to become defensive.

“Why can’t you just trust me?” Willow asked as she started to squeeze past Spike. Spike looked at the back of her head. < Trust her?! She must be bloody losing it. > Spike just shook his head and went and sat on Willow’s bed and opened up the bag from the Magic Box. He pulled out the candles, incense and salt and placed them on the bed. Willow came back into her room in a black tank top and a pair of red shorts and plopped down on the bed beside Spike.

“So are you ready Spike?” Willow asked as she grabbed a few of the candles and stood up.

“As soon as you let me see the spell, I might be ready.” Spike said looking around for a book of spells. Willow put the candles she had on the floor and looked at Spike.

“Spike, it’s not here.” Willow said as Spike looked at her understanding what she had meant. “I memorized it. The spell I mean.”

Spike’s mouth hung open like a fish and closed shut quickly. He ran his hands through his short blonde locks. Willow saw the tension in his jaw and watched the muscles in his face clench. Quietly Spike grabbed the rest of the ingredients and mimicked her movements of placing them on the floor.

“Now, Pet. Are you sure you want to do this?” Spike asked barely able to control what he was feeling. He wasn’t sure what she was doing was safe and it unnerved him and was starting to piss him off because here he was going into this without any clue. Willow sighed again. She had been doing that a lot today.

“Yes, Spike. I’m sure I want to do this.” Willow answered as she started to push her bed over for a little more room. Spike went to help her, moving the bed with ease.

“I’m just making sure because…” Spike started to say before Willow cut him off. Not only did she cut him off, but it was a pet peeve that he had always carried with him.

“Spike, please.” Willow pleaded. “I need someone to be here just in case something goes wrong.” She finished before her resolve started to slip away from her and tears began to fill her eyes. Spike watched her face as the smell of tears filled the air. < She better not cry. I should be the one about to cry. Stupid chit dragging me into some soddin’ spell.>

“Fine! But, Luv, if I end up kissing the Slayer or anyone of the Scooby Gang, I will kill you slowly with or without this bloody chip in my head. Understood?” Spike said as he pulled the cigarettes from his duster pocket and sat down in her desk chair. Willow was more than relieved and nodded her understanding.

About fifteen minutes later Willow had all of the candles set up perfectly and placed the incense into their burners. Spike had eventually gone out onto her balcony and had smoked almost all of his cigarettes while waiting for Willow to finish her set up. Willow opened up one of her French doors and slid out onto the balcony and stood by Spike. She could almost feel the anger radiating off of him if she tried hard enough.

“Spike everything is ready. I just need you to come into the circle so I can seal it.” Willow said quietly.

“Let’s just get this over with.” Spike said as he flicked his last cigarette into the night and brushed past Willow causing her to stagger back. Willow watched him go into her room and sit inside of the circle she had made. Willow said a quick prayer to the goddess before going back inside.

“Red, will you hurry up already?!” Spike yelled from inside breaking Willow’s concentration. Spike was getting antsy and wasn’t going to admit to Willow or anyone that he was scared and that pissed him off. Willow closed the door behind her and walked into the circle. She lit her incense and candles and grabbed a handful of salt and closed the circle. After closing the circle, she took her place across from Spike. Willow looked more centered and calm compared to how Spike was feeling. He was about to tell her to forget everything before she had spoken up.

“Spike I need you to place your hands into mine.” Willow said as she extended her arms out and opened up her hands palms up. Spike shrugged and placed his hands into hers.

“I meant what I said Witch. I will kill you.” Spike said leaving that last threat with her.

“I know Spike.” Willow responded calmly looking into his eyes. Slowly her eyes closed and she opened her senses. She could feel the magic in the air and opened up her eyes again. Spike had slipped into his game face as he felt the magic crackle in the air. He looked at Willow and realized that she had been waiting for him. He nodded at her signaling that he was ready. Willow’s voice dropped an octave lower than her normal tone as she began to recite the memorized lines to the spell.

Show me what’s behind my secret door,
Show me my love, my heart, and more.

Red smoke started to swirl around Willow and Spike. Some mystical wind started to whip around them as well. Willow saw Spike begin to panic and heard his demon growling. With the smoke growing thick around them she held tight onto his hands and kept on with the remainder of the spell.

Guide me down the path of time,
Show me what’s supposed to be mine.

Willow felt Spike’s hands slack up and instantly knew that he had blacked out. Before she panicked, she screamed the last line of her spell before blacking out beside him.

Show me how to breathe.

Willow woke up feeling a little groggy but dismissed it because of the spell. Slowly she sat up and realized she was no longer on her carpeted floor in her room but in a large bed that was neither hers nor familiar. < Oh goddess where am I? Where the hell is Spike? > Willow decided to look around briefly before she started to panic. What she did realize while looking around was that she was indeed alone in a lavish apartment with great views of the city. She just didn’t know which city she was in. < Oh man, Giles is going to be so pissed. Oh goddess, Spike is going to kill me on top of that. > Dread began to pass over her as a phone began to ring in another room. Willow walked out into the kitchen and answered the ringing phone.

“Hello.” She said softly.

“Willow. What the hell are you doing? Are you ready yet?” the familiar voice asked.

“Cordy? Is that you?” Willow asked.

“Who else would it be? Jesus did you and Spike have too much to drink last night?” Cordelia asked laughing.

“Spike. Do you know where he is?” Willow asked worried.

Calm down Willow. He crashed at Angel’s. What is going on with you today?” Cordelia asked starting to get serious.

“I don’t know. I just need you to come over. I think I screwed something up.” Willow said as tears began to fill her eyes.

“Okay. No problem. I’ll be over in ten minutes.” Cordelia said as she heard her friend getting upset.

“Alright. See you soon.” Willow said before hanging up. She groaned and went and sat out on the couch in the living room.

Spike sat up with a start. Wherever he was had been completely dark and he was thankful for that. Spike let his eyes adjust and realized he was in a bedroom and in a bed. He wasn’t sure why, but it was all familiar to him. A door opened up across the room and Spike’s face shifted as the artificial light filled the room along with a figure wearing a towel.

“Spike you’re awake.” The voice said. Spike groaned.

“Oh bloody hell.” < The Poof! I’m gonna kill her. > “What the hell am I going here, Sire?” Spike asked. Angel laughed as he dried his hair with another towel.
