Buffy looked away from Spike, not able to handle his gaze.
Spike sighed and stalked off.
Buffy flinched when she felt him leave. She stood up and ran after him. “Spike,” she said, pulling his arm.
Spike looked down at her. “What?” He asked, softly.
“Don’t leave me,” she whispered.
Spike looked down at her with a softness in his eyes. He slid his hand into hers and pulled her out of the club. “Are you okay?” He asked, once they were outside.
“I don’t know,” Buffy said, walking beside him. “Why does everyone keep leaving me?”
“I don’t know, Pet. I haven’t left so I can’t tell you why,” Spike said.
“Why haven’t you left?” She asked. “ I’ve been so horrible to you.”
“So? I still have a job to do,” Spike said.
“Job?” Buffy asked, as they came to her front porch.
Spike sniffed the air and smelled Dawn’s tears. “Nibblet?” He asked, himself.
Buffy followed Spike upstairs with a confused expression.
Spike knocked on Dawn’s door.
“Go away,” came her voice.
Spike could hear the tears in her voice. “Lil Bit?”
“Spike?” Dawn asked.
“Can I come in?”
“Yeah,” she said.
Spike looked at Buffy and went in, leaving the door open a little.
He noticed the tear tracks on Dawn’s face as he sat next to her. “What happened?” He asked.
“Tara left,” Dawn said, her voice raw form crying.
Spike frowned and pushed her hair out of her face. “She tell you why?”
“Willow did the spell. She wanted Tara to forget they fought and she wanted Buffy to forget she was in heaven,” Dawn whispered.
Spike growled. “I’ll kill her,” he said.
Dawn sniffled. “You okay?”
“Buffy and I got out memories back just in time, but I was kind of a shock for her I guess,” Spike said.
Dawn sat up and leaned into his arms. “I’ve missed you. Ever since Buffy came back, you never come around anymore,” she said.
Spike wrapped his arms around her. “I’ll come around more,” he said.
“Good, cuz you used to be around all the time and now you’re only around when bad stuffy happens,” she said, yawning.
Spike smiled. “Okay, its bedtime for you,” he said, laying her down. He brought the comforter up to her chin and kissed her forehead. “Nite, n Nibblet,” he said.
“Goodnight Spike,” Dawn said, closing her eyes. “Love you.”
Spike smiled. “Love you too,” he said, going to the hall.
Buffy was there with tears in her eyes. “I didn’t know you were that close to her,” she whispered.
Spike followed Buffy to her room. “Pet, you told me to protect her and I have. I didn’t think I had to anymore,” he said.
“You do. You’re all we have left,” she whispered.
Spike frowned deeper. “I’m not leaving if that’s what you mean.”
Buffy sat on her bed and looked at the floor.
Spike sat next to her and wrapped and arm around her shoulders. “I’m never leaving. Now get some sleep,” he said. “I know for a fact you haven’t slept in days.”
“Will you stay?” She asked, looking up at him with big eyes.
Spike kissed her forehead. “Yeah. I can do that,” he said.
They crawled into bed and Buffy snuggled up against Spike. Soon they were both asleep.
