“’Cause I’m not ready for you to not be here,” Buffy said, looking at Spike.
Spike looked at her lovingly. “Buffy, I don’t want anyone getting hurt.”
Buffy moved over next to him. “I know. Spike, I don’t want you to leave. And I know you don’t wanna leave either,” she said, softly.
Spike looked at her, peering into her eyes. He sighed, with defeat. “You win. I’ll stay.”
Buffy smiled. “I didn’t mean for you to try the dating thing. I don’t think I could handle you going out with some girl,” she said.
Spike smiled and stood. “You really don’t want me to go?” He asked.
“No. I really don’t,” Buffy said, standing up and pushing him against the wall.
Spike was really shocked and looked down at her, thinking he was gunna get a punch or a kick. “Buffy?”
“Promise you won’t leave in the middle of the night,” she said, loosening a little as a lone tear slid down her cheek.
“I promise,” Spike said, removing her hand from his throat and wiped away her tear. As more flowed he frowned. “What’s wrong?”
Buffy didn’t know what to say. She wanted a hug but didn’t know how to ask him for one.
Spike seem to have read her thoughts because he tentatively put his arms around her. Buffy sighed in relief and slid her arms around his waist. Spike rocked her back and forth. “This feels nice,” she said, once her tears had died down.
“Buffy, nothing is gunna change what I did. You know that right?” Spike asked.
Buffy raised her head and leaned her forehead against his. “Leave it in the past. We started over. We trust each other. We’re friends now, and we’re making it work. I wont hurt you and I know you won’t hurt me. Just be here with me and make sure I get through this. We don’t have time now to fix everything but we will if you stay,” she said.
Spike nodded and kissed her forehead.
Buffy smiled and kissed his lips gently. It was brief but that was probably all they could handle right now.
“Lets go upstairs,” Buffy said, taking him toward the stairs.
“Buffy, I’m not gunna stay with you, if you’re gunna reject me in the morning,” he said, softly.
“You don’t’ have to worry about that,” Buffy said, taking off his coat. “Not gunna happen.”
Spike smiled and climbed into bed with her. “Okay.”
Soon they were both asleep.
