Buffy closed the door of Woods garage and sighed. She headed home, hoping to find Spike.
She saw him walking toward the house. “Spike!”
Spike stopped and bowed his head. “Buffy, please not now,” he said.
Buffy caught up with him. “You okay?”
“Fine,” Spike said, going to the door. “You know, if you wanted me gone, all you had to do was ask,” he said.
“Spike,” Buffy said, but he ignored her and went.
For the first time in months, tears flowed down Buffy’s face as she sat on the back porch.
Giles came home and found Buffy still on the porch. “Buffy, I understand hat you’re upset but..” Buffy cut him off.
“No! No you don’t understand!” Buffy flared, getting up. “Spike’s still alive.”
“Oh,” Giles muttered.
“He thinks I had something to do with it. Do you see what you’ve done? Spike is furious with me. Giles I just found him again and I could lose him again because of you. How could you?!” She flared.
After she calmed a little she continued. “You were right though. I rely on him and he relies on me. I can’t seem to count on anyone else but him. When he says ‘I got your back’ I know he really does,” she said, rubbing her temple.
“Giles, he’s the only one who understands. You and Wood fucked with his mind. He’s confused because he doesn’t understand why I would do his and he wont even look at me so I can explain,” she said, swallowing her tears. “I need to be alone.”
Giles went in and neither of them knew that Spike was listening.
After a few minutes Buffy went in to change her clothes. Knowing she wouldn’t be able to sleep, she went downstairs.
Spike was in the kitchen leaning against the counter deep in thought.
“Spike?” Buffy asked.
Spike looked up at her face which was full of hurt. “Yeah?”
Buffy walked up to him. “I didn’t know.” She put her hands on the counter on either side of him. “Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t believe me,” she said, looking up at him.
“I can’t,” Spike said.
“Why?” Buffy asked.
“I can see it in your eyes and I heard you and Giles on the back porch,” he said.
“Oh,” Buffy said, blushing. “Good. Then I don’t have to repeat all that,” she said, smiling.
Spike smiled back a little. “Sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it,” she said, fingering the burning on his cheek.
“I’m okay,” he said, nuzzling her fingers.
Buffy smiled. “I know. Don’t listen to what Robin and Giles say. You’re hear because I want you here. I don’t want you to leave. Ever. K?”
Spike nodded. “Kay,” he whispered.
Buffy smiled at his expression and kissed him softly.
When he tried to pull away she locked her arms around his neck.
Spike gave up and kissed her back with everything in him.
Buffy moaned softly when his tongue slipped into her mouth. Eventually she had to pull away for air. She smiled at Spike. “I wanted to do that for so long,” she whispered, pulling him towards the stairs.
“Buffy..” he protested.
“We aren’t’ gunna do anything. I just want you to hold me while I sleep,” she said.
Spike followed Buffy upstairs and toed of his boots. He slid in bed with her and held her close to him.
“Is Dawn okay?” He asked.
“Yeah. She’s okay,” she said, kissing his neck lightly.
“Goodnight Pet,” Spike whispered.
“Night Spike,” Buffy said, falling asleep.
