One more day, another death
The world breaks under its own weight.
Sacrament promises what life fails to give
Sin, death and courage,
No reason to live.
Mission does what mission must
The clash of steel and bond of trust
Is all that can make a doomed life seem just.
Yet through the smoke that chokes the world
And the depths of sin that lie within
A question lies unanswered
Next to a reward no one can give.
The blackest death paints walls and hearts,
That even the purest white turns grey.
Luminescent suffering shines on blank faces,
Charred souls pouring out
Through empty eyes.
A job that cannot end
Till death do them part.
A job worth doing,
A life worth living,
From mornings first light
Till his worn out soul’s depart.
