As Wood was ready to stake Spike, Spike’s human features appeared. Wood was thrown away from Spike abruptly, just before the stake reached his chest.
Standing over Spike, protectively was a very pissed off slayer. “What are you doing?” She asked, Robin.
“Your job! Now move!” Robin yelled, as Spike climbed to his feet.
“This stops now. She’s dead,” Buffy said.
“Because he killed her,” Robin said, angrily.
“He’s different know. None of us deserve this.” She turned to Spike who was putting his coat on. “Lets go home.”
“Gladly,” he said, following her out.
When they reached home, they sat on the porch. “Spike, I didn’t know.”
“I didn’t think you did. I didn’t wanna kill him or hurt him, but he used the trigger and I couldn’t help it,” he said, avoiding her eyes.
“Spike,” Buffy said, pulling his gaze to hers. “I’ve seen the man in you and I’ve seen the demon. You wouldn’t be Spike without both. Besides, I like you the way you are and I like having you around. You’re still the only one I can talk to. I feel a little empty with out you.”
“How did you find out I was in trouble?” Spike asked.
“I had a feeling. And Giles kept stalling. Kinda like the feeling you get when I’m in trouble,” she said, smiling a little.
“Mine’s just a little stronger though,” he said, smiling back at her.
She laid her head on his shoulder and leaned into his side. Hesitantly, Spike brought his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to him. She put her hand on his thigh, letting him know that it was okay. He pressed his cheek into her hair.
After some time, Spike felt her start to fall asleep. “Come on, Pet. Lets get you to bed.”
“Don’t wanna. I’m comfy,” she pouted, sleepily.
“You’re falling asleep,” Spike said, pulling her to her feet and scooping her up. He took her inside and got her tucked in bed. When he laid her in bed, she wouldn’t let him go.
“Stay,” she whispered.
“Luv, I don’t know if that’s such a good idea,” he said, trying to loosen her grasp on him.
“Please? We’ll just sleep. I promise,” she begged.
He toed off his boots and climbed in behind her. He wrapped himself around her body and nuzzled her neck. Soon she was sound asleep.
When Giles arrived home we went up to Buffy’s room and was not pleased to see the two of them asleep on her bed. He would have to wait until morning.
When Buffy woke, she was surprised when she felt two arms around her. Spike unconsciously tightened his arms around and purred softly.
Buffy rolled over and met his crystal blue gaze. ‘Morning Pet,” he said, softly.
“Morning,” Buffy said, snuggling deeper into his arms. “I have to talk to Giles.”
“Don’t fight with Rupert about me,” Spike said, inhaling the scent of her hair. “We can’t split up right now. What time is it?’
“9. I think this is the latest I’ve ever slept in a few years,” Buffy said.
“You need your sleep. You’re doing too much by yourself and you’re gunna wear yourself out,” Spike said, concerned.
“I have you to help right?” Buffy asked.
“Yeah, you do,” Spike said, kissing her hair. “Do we have to go downstairs?”
“I think we can stay her for a little bit. I’m not in a hurry to go anywhere,” she said, leaning her head back to give him a quick kiss.
They settled down again and just enjoyed each others company.
