Feeling Better by Spikes Queen
[Reviews - 0]

“I’m… What did you do?” Spike asked, looking at Dawn.

“Me? Nothing. I found her,” Dawn said.

“Spike,” Buffy whispered, coming down the stairs and stopping in front of him. She wrapped her arms around Spike’s waist when he couldn’t think of anything to say. On impulse, Spike wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. Buffy stared sobbing in his arms and then Spike broke down too.

By the time they were finished crying, Buffy and Spike were on the floor and Dawn was asleep in the middle

“Buffy, what happened, Pet?” Spike finally asked, stroking her arm.

“I don’t know,” she said, her voice raspy. “I woke up in my coffin and dug my way out. I fought a few demons and Dawn found me on the tower. I don’t really wanna talk about it.”

“It’s okay. Your friends are gunna be really happy to see you,” Spike said, stroking her hair.

“I know. I’ll talk to everyone tomorrow. Right now, I’m sleep,” she yawned, falling asleep.

Spike smiled and settled down to sleep as well.

Dawn woke to the back door being slammed open. She looked at Spike and Buffy asleep in front of the front door.

Xander and everyone came in the foyer. “Dawn?” Xander began loudly.

Willow elbowed him. “Xander.”

Dawn slipped from Buffy and Spike’s grasps and they closed the space between them.

“Guys, be quiet. They’ve had a rough night and they’re exhausted,” Dawn whispered, shooing everyone into the kitchen

Willow spoke first. “So Dawn, wadded think?” She asked.

“I don’t know. We have to figure out how she got back,” Dawn said.

“We brought her back,” Willow said, happily.

“You… you did this?”

“Yeah. It’s great. We saw her before but didn’t get a good look at her,” Willow said.

“I was scared,” Buffy said, standing in the doorway with Spike at her side. “I woke up in my coffin. I couldn’t breathe and had to did my way out. I had no idea what happened. First, I was… Then I was here.” Tears slid from her eyes.

Spike gently placed his hands on her
shoulders so he didn’t startle her. “Pet?”

Buffy turned and buried her face in Spike’s chest as she cried.

Everyone watched with shocked expressions, except for Dawn. They watched as Buffy clung to Spike and sobbed.

Finally she pulled away, but let Spike keep a loose hold on her. She smiled a little up at him and turned to her friends. “I’m back but I’m tired, so can we talk about this tomorrow?” She asked, softly.

“Of course,” Dawn said. “You’ve got to be tired.”

“Well, we’ll leave you be. Tara and I can stay at her apartment. You and Dawn probably want some space,” Willow said.

“Actually, I think Buffy might want some time with Spike,” Dawn said.

Willow looked at Buffy. “It’s alright with us if it’s alright with you guys,” she said.

“Its fine. Just be careful, okay Dawn?’ Buffy said.

Dawn smiled and gave her sister a hug before going to get her stuff.

About 15 minutes later, everyone had left and Buffy looked at Spike. “You kept your promise,” She said, softly.

Spike looked down at her. “I made a promise didn’t I? She was all I had left. Now, she’s gunna think she can slack off,” he said, shaking his head.

“Don’t let me stop form playing the role of dad,” she said, smiling. “I wanna talk.” She took his hand and took him upstairs to her room.

She sat on the bed and Spike sat next to her.

“I wasn’t in hell,” she said, looking at the comforter.

“Where were you?” Spike asked, afraid of the answer.

Buffy raised her eyes to his and they were filled with tears. He squeezed her hands and she relaxed slightly. “I was in heaven.”

Spike’s eyes softened. “Oh, Pet.”

Buffy cried softly. “I don’t know if I can live in this world again after…”

Spike frowned at her pain and his heart began to break. “I’m sorry, Pet. That doesn’t help but I’m not gunna tell you that it’s gunna be okay.”

“Don’t tell anyone,” she whispered, crawling into his lap. “Just help me.”

Spike held her tightly. “I’ll do whatever I can.”

“Thank you,” she whispered. “Hold me while I sleep?”

Buffy rested her tired body on his and Spike held the pain with her. He wasn’t gunna let her do this alone. He failed her once, he wasn’t gunna do it again.

He felt her slip into sleep and he laid her down. He took off his jacket and boots and removed her shoes as well. He settled the two of them under the comforter and held her all night.

In the morning, when Buffy woke, Spike’s strong arms were still holding her. Buffy tightened her grip on him sighed raggedly.

Spike was awake and kissed her hair when she squeezed him. “You okay, Pet?” He murmured.

“Better. Not great, but better,” Buffy said.

“Go take a shower and I’ll make you something to eat,” Spike said.

“I will, but not right now,” Buffy said.

Spike smiled and picked up the phone next to her bed.

“Who are you calling?” Buffy asked, looking up at him.

“Willow,” Spike answered.

Buffy raised an eyebrow was he checked to make sure Dawn got enough sleep and went to school. When he hung up, he looked down at her. “What? it’s a habit.”

“I’m gunna take a shower. You’ve really changed, Spike,” she said, getting out of bed.

Spike got up too. “Is that a bad thing?” He asked.

Buffy smiled. “Not at all.” And she disappeared in to the bathroom.

Spike smiled and headed downstairs to make breakfast.

By the time Buffy went downstairs, there were eggs and toast waiting for her. She sat down and smiled. “Thank you, Spike.”

“No problem, Luv.” He gave her a cup of coffee which she graciously excepted. “You should be hungry since you haven’t eaten in a while.”

Buffy looked up from her food. “I’m not withering away to nothing.”

“Pet, not to put any pressure on you, but you might have to call peaches,” Spike said.

“I…. Not yet. It’s too soon,” Buffy said.

“Just, don’t make it too late,” Spike said, picking up the kitchen.

Buffy looked at him. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” he growled.

Buffy sighed. “Spike, don’t lie to me.”

“He never came to your funeral or after to see how everyone was. He never said goodbye to you, but Willow told him,” he said, softly.

“Oh.” Buffy could see that Spike was upset. She stood up and walked over to him. “I’ll take care of it,” she said. Buffy reached out and stroked his cheek.

“Buffy, it’s not gunna make it okay,” Spike said, bringing his hand to rest on hers.

“I’ll call him in a few days after I’ve adjusted to everything,” Buffy said, bringing her arms around his neck.

“Whatever makes you happy, Pet,” Spike said, cocking his head and bringing his hands to her hips.

“What would make me happy, is if you could take me upstairs,” she said.

Spike smiled and scooped her up. He carried her upstairs and her laughter could be heard through out the whole house.
