Reviews for Walking in Fear

I'm sort of partial to novelist Robert Musil's definition: "The soul is that which runs away and hides when someone starts talking about algebra."

I love how this interweaves with "Man with a thousand faces". It's funny; for all the fics of yours I've read, I don't think I've ever read the tiniest detail that didn't seem completely and deeply thought through. This is profound and funny ("a gaggle of quacks", indeed) at the same time.

Greta finale! I loved the action sequences, especially Anya's. I also loved Dawn's reverie about why she wanted the soul. I'd always assumed it was just a natural desire. But this last chapter harkened back to the philosophical nature of the earlier chapters to ask a meaningful question. We wonder not just what a soul is and how one earns one, but why do people want it? What makes it necessary. If Dawn was "good" so to speak, what was the value of having a soul? Was it just to ensure some existence after death, or would having a soul in some way connect her to other people in the world? The ending- wow. What a cliffhanger. What the hell is Charlie doing there and what did Dawn decide? If Dawn decides to do what Logan says, what happens? Is he lying or does Buffy have it wrong? This has been a great story and a great ride

My name is William the Bloody. I am a bounty hunt-ah. Sorry. If you see that ad for Domino enough times, it just sticks with you. Spike was like a bloodhound tracking down Dawn. In retrospect, I should have guessed who was following Dawn, but I didn’t. It was an awesome surprise. It makes total sense, considering the similarities between the two.

Sorry for the delay in reviewing. I’m in the middle of an interstate move. I love the limitation to Willow’s tracking spell. I also love that Logan is such a worthy adversary. So many villains on Buffy were hyped to be major baddies, then turned out to be pretty wimpy. (*cough* spike *cough*). The spiders were awesome, as was Giles plan to deal with them. Poor Dawn; again with the ceremonial dress, etc. I’m anxious as hall hell about what’s behind that wooden door.

Author's Response: Hey, thanks for picking it up again - I know how hard coming back to literature. Hope the move went well. As always, Thanks for reviewing!

The story was great, plot, characters, ofcoarse it would have been nice to find out what HAPPENED! but other than that, it was great.

Author's Response: To find out what happened, you'll have to read The Man With a Thousand Faces, which is pretty much the chronicles of Loki, leading up to and beyond the events of Walking in Fear from different perspectives than those explored there. Glad you liked it (most of it). If you don't want to read the whole (admittedly long) other fic, then contact me and I'll email you the ending as taken from the appropriate chapters of The Man With a Thousand Faces. Thanks for the review!

Okay, you have my attention. Great start. The descriptions are absolutely poetic. It's also very mysterious, so I'm definitely hooked.

Another hot scene with Dawn. I was a little sad she didn't go for it. I am so into the sucking thing.

loki is dawn father, didn't see that coming. And again, credit for making people think about the spiritla, even if it make you uncomfrotabal.

Great story. I hope I'm not sick for saying this, but Dawn's scene in the club was actually kind of sensual. I suppose you were going for that, but I still worry I'm a bad man. So far, this is really, really good and I can't wait to read the rest.

Author's Response: Everyone thinks they're sick for liking that scene. I'm just glad everyone gets it. It's my substitue for a sex scene, as that might make a few more people sick, lol. Thanks for the review!

Another cool chapter. I really like this story and Dawn's quest. Each event is so mysterious, yet not so off the wall it makes me lose interest. I was kind of sad Dawn didn't let the vmap suck on her for a little bit. The scene you wrote in the bar was so sensual. Or maybe I'm just a sicko.

Author's Response: You're not a sicko... well, no more than I am. She gets another chance to feel the sweet bloody kiss later on, when withdrawl catches up to her. Thanks for the review!

Damn, this is good stuff. I'm completely jealous. For as much time the show spent dealing with souls, you think they would have addresses Dawn's. But their missed oppertunity is awesomely picked up by you. I always loved how on Buffy and Angel, stuff always stood for other stuff. There was this subtext and analogies for stuff everybody deals with. And this is definitely right there with that. Most normal ppl wonder about the concept of a soul and the hereafter. This is GREAT!!!

Author's Response: Thanks, man. It's all about the need / desire of every human being, all wrapped up in a metaphysical package. Glad you like it!

I was glad the priest was helping her, then he just seemed to be crazy, by the end I just didn't know anymore. I liked this chapter, but what the Hell just happened?

Author's Response: Wethrin's a tricky guy. He only made a cameo here, but look for him also in Man With a Thousand Faces. As for what the Hell happened??-- Use your imagination.

This story is very intresting. while most fanfics are for fun (and, I'm not saying this ones not fun) this one is very philosophical, and, even Spiritual. I give you cretit for takeing the chance, and just for the record, the guy that said kids go to hell was a quake.

Author's Response: I'm glad someone finally commented on the quack. It certainly seems to me that with all those dusty old volumes in the Magic Box, some of them would end up being written by nutty guys with depressing viewpoints. Thanks for the reviews!! I always appreciate them!

The Nightmare begining work really good, and I'm hooked in for the rest, Good job.
