| Riley isn't Angel. They're two totally separate entities. You can't compare one to the other. If one was a hard-core Riley fan who didn't like Angel, would it seem right to you for one to justify their dislike for Angel by saying that he isn't Riley? Obviously. That's sort of stating the obvious, isn't it? |

i have to agree with you Teacosy. as much as i don't like Riley, at least he didn't try to attempt to rape Buffy like you said. i completely agree with that and anyways, all tv shows are gonna have some character that people are not gonna like. im not really taking this super seriously, just like to express my opinion and read about people's opinions, which makes this really interesting.

| 1. He came to her dorm room to ask her out on his own. Willow was there moping about Oz, so he asked her a couple of questions. Willow basically decided that she wanted to help Riley/Buffy. He got nervous. Wouldn't you?
2. Hello?! He was sort of grieving. Also going through withdrawl. Not his fault.
3. Not really. He never said outright, "damnit Buffy you drove me to get my blood sucked". He was lonely, and made a huge mistake, granted, but I don't think he ever actually said that he blamed Buffy.
4. Well, yeah, okay. I give you that one.
5. Sam to Buffy: "It took him a year to get over you." Besides, what were the writers just going to do, invite Riley back into the show with him being single? "Oh, Riley... can we get back together?" "Oh... no. No... no, just no." Okay, kind of assholey for him not to tell her, but would that be the first thing you say if you just asked your ex to risk their life for your little project? |

Riley was Buffy's worst relationship? I'd have to go for Buffy's season 6 relationship with Spike, which was pretty much unhealthy from the start. Even if you choose to call Riley irritating, at least their relationship didn't conclude with attempted rape.

I don't really care. Riley was just Buffy's guy. And I don't really see how any of this answers my perpetual question on "why" everyone hates Riley. I'm not hearing a lot of justification.
Again with the not caring. I'm not offended or anything, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but in my view "because he's annoying" isn't a reason to hate someone.
Author's Response: I can understand that, I just didn't really go on because I didn't want people to think that I spend all my free time thinking of reasons to hate a fictional character. I guess I don't hate him, I just really really don't like him. |
